    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Dodging a Doggy Jan 12, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiff sold a puppy to the defendant, her friend’s sister. She says the defendant never paid for the dog, so she took the dog back. The defendant put up fliers around the neighborhood claiming the plaintiff stole her dog. She’s suing for the cost of the dog and defamation of character. The defendant argues the plaintiff stole her dog and keeps moving the pet around so she can’t find it. The defendant is countersuing for the cost of the dog.

    Then, the plaintiff was hired to do marketing for the defendant’s cookie company. He says the defendant refuses to pay him for his services, so he’s suing for two months of salary. The defendant fired him, so he doesn’t owe the plaintiff.

    Plus, the plaintiff brings her ex-boyfriend to court. She argues the defendant never paid rent when they lived together, stole money from her, and even took cash out of her bank account. He hasn’t paid her back, so she’s suing for rent, stolen money, and bank overdraft charges. The defendant says he never even lived with her, and the defendant is just upset because their relationship went bad.

    Kicking Her to the Curb Jan 11, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant, her landlord. She claims the defendant locked her out of her home one day and left all of her belongings outside, including her television and hair kit. She’s suing for damages. The defendant argues the plaintiff never paid rent and doesn’t know what happened to her belongings. She’s countersuing for unpaid rent, slander, and harassment.

    Then, the plaintiffs, a father and daughter, hired the defendant to make the daughter’s prom dress. They say the back seam broke, which caused a huge hole. When she got to the prom, the front seam broke. The plaintiffs are suing for the cost of the dress. The defendant argues the daughter didn’t put on the dress until the day of the prom. He doesn’t understand why the plaintiffs are suing for double the cost of the dress.

    Plus, the plaintiff let her son drive her car to drop off a friend at his house. He says the defendant ran into his car because she was speeding, and both cars got totaled. The plaintiff says the defendant refuses to pay for damages, so she’s suing. The defendant argues her cellphone slid off her dashboard and under her brake pad. She tried to reach for it while driving, then crashed into the plaintiff’s son. She says insurance already covered the damages.

    Taking it Out on a Car Jan 10, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiff brings his ex-girlfriend to court. He argues they got into a big fight at a party, and the defendant started beating his car with a stick. The defendant called the police and claimed he beat her, so he got arrested. He’s suing for bail, wrongful arrest, missing work, and car damages. The defendant says the plaintiff attacked her. She admits she hit the plaintiff’s car with a stick, but the damages aren’t as bad as he claims.

    Then, the plaintiff used to be close friends with the defendant. She says she loaned him money to help pay for child support backpay, but he hasn’t repaid her, so she’s suing. The defendant argues they were actually dating at the time. He says he already paid her back in full, so he isn’t sure why he’s even in court.

    Letting a Friend Down Jan 09, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiff used to be close friends with the defendant. They decided to take a trip to the Dominican Republic together and the plaintiff paid for the whole trip with the agreement that the defendant would repay her share. She claims the defendant refuses to pay because they got into a fight during the vacation, so she’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff insisted on booking everything even though she offered to pay. She says the hotel was horrible and not even close to the beach, so she doesn’t owe.

    Then, the plaintiff was walking her small dog when she claims the defendant’s unleashed dog attached her pet. She’s suing for vet bills. The defendant says the plaintiff was walking her dog on her property and she’s the one who didn’t have her dog on a leash. There wasn’t even any blood or sign of a fight, so she doesn’t owe her anything.

    Plus, the plaintiff purchased a car from the defendant. She claims he sold her a faulty car because the check engine light went on the next day, so she’s suing for her money back. The defendant argues the plaintiff test drove the car and liked it, so he doesn’t owe her.

    Cutting the Manager out of the Deal Jan 08, 2024

    The plaintiff has managed hundreds of rappers and agreed to represent the defendant’s son. He says he hasn’t been paid and is out tens of thousands of dollars, so he’s suing. The defendant says her son is very talented. She says she and the plaintiff agreed on a return on the profit, but she hasn’t received a dime. The defendant argues the plaintiff will get paid once she gets paid. She’s countersuing for jewelry and the cost of a laptop. Case #27153 #PeoplesCourt #RealityTV #Court

    Then, the plaintiff is a professional walker and tripped over the defendant’s sidewalk because it was uneven. He thinks the defendant is responsible for the sidewalk outside of his house. He’s suing for pain and suffering and punitive damages. The defendant argues the plaintiff just tripped and is trying to pin it on him.

    Plus, the plaintiff, who has a disabled son, agreed to rent an apartment from the defendant. She argues the defendant told her she couldn’t move in due to her son, so she’s suing for a security deposit and bounced check fee. The defendant says the plaintiff was the one who changed her mind, so he doesn’t owe her a thing.

    Horsing Around Jan 05, 2024

    The plaintiff leased her horse to the defendant for free in exchange for feeding and taking care of the horse. The plaintiff claims the defendant took terrible care of the horse and left him malnourished, so she rescued him. She’s suing for vet bills. The defendant argues she and her husband split up, so she wasn’t able to contact the plaintiff. She thinks her ex is behind the whole thing.

    Then, the plaintiff took his car to the defendant’s shop for an oil change, but when he got it back, the engine was messed up. He claims the defendant’s worker broke the gas detection pump, and it was very expensive to fix. He’s suing for car damages. The defendant argues the car has 200,000 miles on it, so obviously it was going to have issues.

    Plus, the plaintiff rented an apartment to the defendant for three years. He claims the defendant up and left in the middle of the night and left the place in a total mess. He’s suing for the cleaning costs. The defendant argues he left the place perfectly clean. He says he was on a month-to-month lease and the apartment was infested with pests, so he doesn’t owe. He’s countersuing for money owed.

    Fouling Out with a Father Jan 04, 2024

    The plaintiff says the defendant is his estranged son. He co-signed on a car for him, but his son isn’t making the payments. Suing his own flesh and blood is tough, but his son needs a lesson in responsibility. The defendant insists his dad is a bully who kept the car himself, and he denies owing him a penny.

    Then, the plaintiff says he hired the defendant, a health care worker, to care for his 95-year-old disabled mother. The defendant failed to show up twice for overnight shifts and he had to miss work and travel to take of his mom. He’s suing for all he’s out. The defendant says the plaintiff had cameras everywhere to spy on health care workers and she didn’t want anything to do with him.

    Holding Out Jan 03, 2024

    The plaintiff says he’s known the defendant for a few years and loaned her money off and on. She hasn’t repaid the most recent loan, and he claims it’s because she has the hots for him and wants to keep him interested. He’s suing to get his money back. The defendant says the plaintiff did a poor job on renovating her bathroom, so she says they’re even financially.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant’s dog attacked her pet at the dog park. She claims the defendant thinks it was no big deal, even though her dog needed surgery. She’s suing him for all the vet bills. The defendant says the dog was only scratched, and her dog was actually injured elsewhere. He insists her dog was off-leash when she entered the park, which is a no-no.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she bought a new TV from the defendant, but his employee carried it to her car upside down and it ended up with a puncture mark. The defendant won’t replace the TV or give her a refund, so she’s suing for his money back. The defendant says he asked the plaintiff to inspect the TV before she bought it, but she refused, so he’s not responsible.

    Not Being Handy Enough Jan 02, 2024

    The plaintiff hired the defendant to remove snow and make home repairs. She says she prepaid him, but he never showed up. She’s suing for the balance on two retainers. The defendant argues he removed the snow and fixed her appliances, so he doesn’t owe her anything.

    Then, the plaintiff brought his car to the defendant’s shop for a paint job, but the workers completely ruined it. He’s suing for the cost of car repairs. The defendant argues the plaintiff paid him and didn’t complain when he picked it up. He thinks the plaintiff is a scammer.

    Plus, the plaintiff rented apartment from the defendant, but it was a total mess and the neighbors were terrible. She gave notice to move out, but now the defendant won’t return her security deposit. The defendant says the plaintiff complained about everything, and he doesn’t owe her.

    Creative Differences Jan 01, 2024

    The plaintiff used to be friends with the defendant. He says the defendant hired him to be a cinematographer for a short comedy special. The plaintiff claims the defendant didn’t pay him for the work he did, so he’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff volunteered to work on the special. She says she agreed to give him food, but not money, so she doesn’t owe him a thing.

    Then, the plaintiff was hired to paint the defendant’s apartment. He says he left his tools in her apartment overnight, and when he returned, his tools were ruined because the defendant’s dogs ate them. He’s suing for the cost of a new paint gun. The defendant argues she told the plaintiff not to leave his tools in her apartment, but he didn’t listen, so it’s not her fault.

    Plus, the plaintiff dated the defendant and loaned him money twice during their relationship. She claims he never paid her back, so she’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff cheated on him all the time. He says the plaintiff never bothered him about the money until now.
