    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Being Color Blind Feb 09, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says she went to the defendant’s hair salon for color correction, but they made it worse. She’s suing for a full refund and the cost to have it redone. The defendant says she’s a master colorist, and the plaintiff came in with terrible color. She says the plaintiff returned a few days later for a partial refund, and now they’re in court.

    The plaintiff says the defendant’s vicious dog attacked her little cocker spaniel in the dog park. The defendant won’t pay the vet bills, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff’s little dog was in the big dog section and was snapping at her dog. The defendant is countersuing for a doctor’s bill since she got bitten in the melee.

    The plaintiff says he brought his BMW to the defendant for a custom wrap, but the man dented the roof of his car and misplaced the spoiler. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff is a swindler who’s blaming him for damages he didn’t do. He claims the plaintiff canceled after the defendant spent the whole day prepping.

    Fouling Up the Food Feb 08, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiffs say the hired the defendants to cater their New Orleans-themed wedding party, but they never showed up. Their 150 guests had no food at all, so they’re suing because the wedding was ruined. The defendants say the catering manager’s electric car wasn’t fully charged and they missed the reception.

    The plaintiff says she loaned the defendant money to launch a T-shirt company, but he stopped repaying her when she rebuffed his advances. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says he was repaying the plaintiff in installments, but then she demanded full payment and defamed him. He claims they’re more than even.

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her ex-boyfriend. He borrowed money from her to buy a car, but he never repaid it, so she’s suing. The defendant claims the money was a gift, and she only began calling it a loan once they broke up.

    Un-friending a Friend Feb 07, 2024

    The plaintiff says she and the defendant are longtime friends. She loaned her pal some money, but she hasn’t been repaid, so she’s suing. The defendant says the money was a gift and claims the plaintiff’s son even threatened her.

    The plaintiff says he hired the defendant to install his 65-inch TV on the wall, but the man cracked it. He has it on video, and the defendant still refuses to pay for it. The defendant says he’s being framed, and claims the TV was nine months old. He says it was already damaged.

    The plaintiff says she agreed to rent an apartment from the defendant, but he couldn’t get the previous tenants to move out and it fell through. Still, the man refuses to return her deposit or cover her storage costs, so she’s suing. The defendant says he warned the plaintiff he might have trouble getting the tenants out, and he insists the deposit was non-refundable.

    Robbing a Guy Blind Feb 06, 2024

    The plaintiff says the defendant is his ex-girlfriend. He claims she took his debit card and went on a wild spending spree, so he’s suing for what he’s out. The defendant says her ex told her to buy whatever she needed, but when she got back with her husband, he changed his tune.

    The plaintiff says the defendant is a former employee who attacked her and her truck. She’s suing for the cost of the vehicle damage. The defendant says the plaintiff dragged her out of her day care business and hit her with a chair, so she fought back. She denies damaging anything.

    The plaintiff says he hired the defendant to install nine new windows in his house, and he put down a 50% deposit. A year later, the job still wasn’t done. He’s suing for his money back. The defendant claims the windows were delivered in December, but it was too cold to install them.

    Losing Interest Feb 05, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiff works with the defendant and once loaned her money. The plaintiff said he told the defendant she would have to pay late fees until the loan was paid off, but she hasn’t done that yet, so he’s suing for the interest on a loan. The defendant argues she paid off the loan and doesn’t owe him any more money.

    The plaintiff and the defendant were close friends, and he says he registered his car in the defendant’s name. The plaintiff says the car got towed, impounded, and sold off because the defendant had almost $2,000 in unpaid tickets. He’s suing for the value of the car and fees. The defendant argues he told the about the unpaid tickets. He’s countersuing for the cost of soccer equipment that was in the car when it got towed.

    The plaintiff rented a condo from the defendant. She says the landlord told her the lease was increasing, so she moved out. The plaintiff argues the defendant won’t return her security deposit, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff broke her lease and moved out early, so he needed the security deposit to cover his losses.

    Making a Real Mess of Things Feb 02, 2024

    The plaintiff rented a townhouse to the defendant. He says he ultimately had to evict her because her checks kept bouncing. He says the house was badly damaged and the defendant left large buckets of urine inside. He’s suing for rent and damages. The defendant argues she doesn’t owe him anything. She claims the plaintiff is only suing her because he wants to remodel his house.

    Then, the plaintiff says she was walking her dog one day when the defendant’s pit bull ran out of a house and attacked her puppy. The plaintiff’s dog had to have part of her tail amputated, so she’s suing for vet bills and training classes. The defendant says she offered to pay for the vet bills, but the plaintiff kept refusing.

    Plus, the plaintiff brings her ex-boyfriend to court. She says she loaned him money to help pay for rent and utilities, but he has not paid her back, so she’s suing. The defendant argues he doesn’t owe her any money. He’s countersuing for the price of a couch.

    A Hairy Situation Feb 01, 2024

    The plaintiff ordered hair extensions from the defendant’s shop. When the plaintiff went to pick them up, she claims they were the wrong length, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant says the plaintiff is suing him for no good reason. If she didn’t want the hair extensions, she shouldn’t have left his shop with them.

    Then, the plaintiff rented a house to the defendant. She claims the defendant sold the shed on her property to another person, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff gave her permission to move the shed to make room for a pool. The defendant is countersuing for pain and suffering.

    Plus, the plaintiff sold the defendant a machine to charge car air conditioning systems, but he hasn’t paid her in full, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists he and the plaintiff agreed upon a lower price than the plaintiff says.

    A Dental Disaster Jan 31, 2024

    Leaving a Guy in the Dark Jan 30, 2024

    The defendant hired the plaintiff’s company to do some electrical work on his building. However, the plaintiff claims the defendant refuses to pay what he owes, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant denies owing because he claims the plaintiff only restored electric service to the third floor, leaving him in the dark on the first and second.

    Then, the plaintiff claims his friend, the defendant, borrowed his motorcycle and crashed it into a car, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff’s mother asked her son to move her motorcycle, but the plaintiff was drunk, so the defendant offered to help. When the defendant drove the motorcycle, he claims the plaintiff failed to tell him the brakes weren’t working.

    Sabotage Jan 29, 2024

    The plaintiff ordered hair extensions from the defendant’s shop. When the plaintiff went to pick them up, she claims they were the wrong length, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant says the plaintiff is suing him for no good reason. If she didn’t want the hair extensions, she shouldn’t have left his shop with them.

    Plus, the plaintiff brought his motorcycle into the defendant’s shop for repair, but he claims the defendant’s workers intentionally put grease on his tires so that he’d have to return for more work. The minute he got out of the shop, the plaintiff says the grease caused him to crash into a van, so the plaintiff is suing for damages. The defendant insists his workers would never do such a thing, and the crash was clearly the plaintiff’s fault.

    Then, the plaintiff hired the defendant to custom create balloon centerpieces for her wedding. The plaintiff was horrified by the result. The balloons didn’t have enough helium in them and some even deflated during the party, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant claims when she set up the balloons, everything looked great. It wasn’t until a week after the wedding that the plaintiff complained because five balloons didn’t float right. The defendant would have adjusted them if the plaintiff had said something in the first place.
