    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    The plaintiff says she bought a pellet stove from the defendant, but it was an old and discontinued model that never worked. She’s suing for a refund. The defendant says the stove worked fine when she sold it, and they tested it before the plaintiff bought it.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant T-boned him while he was driving, and he suffered neck pain and had to go to the hospital by ambulance. He’s suing for the value of his car. The co-defendant says the plaintiff ran a red light and crashed into the co-defendant’s wife. They’re countersuing for the cost of the damages to their car.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he rented a room from the defendant, but he moved out because things were rocky. He’s suing for his security deposit. The defendant says the plaintiff was terrible and used to walk around the house in his underwear and left the bathroom a mess, so she used his deposit to clean it.

    'Having Extra Baggage', 'You Have No Right To Keep My Money' & 'Stealing a Friend's Canine' Jul 11, 2024

    The plaintiff says the defendant is a relative of his ex-girlfriend, and he alleges the defendant owes him luggage charges for extra bags he agreed to bring home from El Salvador. She hasn’t repaid him for the fees, so he’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff brought a few items for her, but he’s only suing because he tried to date her and she turned him down.

    Then, the plaintiff says she was illegally charged fees when she worked for the defendant’s home health care agency. She alleges the defendant wasn’t licensed and shouldn’t have collected the fees, so she’s suing for her money back. The defendant says the plaintiff signed an agreement that allowed the defendant to take a commission. She’s countersuing for unpaid fees.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the defendant is her former friend. She claims she asked her ex-pal to babysit her dog, but now she refuses to return the pet. She’s suing for what she spent to buy the dog. The defendant says the plaintiff’s dog ran away when someone left her door open. She’s countersuing for defamation.

    'Being a Bad Boss' & 'Rough Seas With a Customer' Jul 10, 2024

    The plaintiff says she worked with the defendant at his insurance company, but he’s stiffing her on her wages and commissions. She claims he harassed her, and she suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says he paid the plaintiff and never harassed her. He insists she must have been happy because she gained 25 pounds while she worked there. He’s countersuing for overpayment.

    The plaintiff says he brought his boat to the defendant’s boat yard to have the engine repaired, but the defendant ripped him off and did bad work. He says he refuses to be scammed and is suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says he repaired everything as he was supposed to and insists the plaintiff just has a bad attitude.

    'Getting Under An Ex's Skin', 'Muffing Up a Move' & 'Ticking Off a Tenant' Jul 09, 2024

    The plaintiff says she used to date the defendant. She claims he broke in, knocked her down, and stole her TV and phone. She’s suing him for what she’s owed. The defendant says the TV was his, and he claims she threw her phone at him. He’s countersuing for hardship and wasted time.

    The plaintiff says she hired the defendant’s company to move her, but she claims the guys were drunk and tossed her belongings around like they didn’t care. She also says they stole items. She’s suing for the damaged items. The defendant says the plaintiff was abusive to her movers and even tried to push one of her guys down the stairs.

    The plaintiff says she moved out of the roach-infested apartment she rented from the defendant. She’s suing because she had to throw out all her furniture because of the bugs. The defendant says the plaintiff moved out with no notice, and she denies there were any roaches.

    'Landscaping Mafia', 'Skimming On Security' & 'Being Sticky-Fingered' Jul 08, 2024

    The plaintiff says he was contracted to do landscaping for the defendant and did a great job. The check he was paid with bounced, and he claims the defendant told him he was with the mafia and threatened him when he tried to collect. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff did a lousy job and his nephew wrote the check off a closed account.

    The plaintiff says she rented a four-bedroom home from the defendants and left the place immaculate when she moved out. They’re refusing to return her security deposit, so she’s suing for every penny she’s owed. The defendants say the plaintiff moved out late, broke doors, and damaged the bathroom, so they had to use some of the deposit for repairs.

    The plaintiff says her friend stole her credit card and used it for unauthorized purchases. She’s suing for the money back. The defendant says the plaintiff gave her the card at the veterinarian’s office because her dog was vomiting blood. The plaintiff scammed the credit card company and told them the card was stolen, and they refunded her money.

    'Being a Nasty Neighbor', 'Missing It' & 'Take This Car Back' Jul 05, 2024

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her neighbor, and they don’t get along. She says she tried to get an order of protection because the woman and her dog harass her and her dog mercilessly. She’s suing for the harassment. The defendant says the plaintiff was a nightmare who would start confrontations and videotape her through her windows.

    The plaintiffs say they hired the defendant to do a house inspection for a home they were buying and he said it looked fine. Turns out the home’s roof was shot and the oil tank was rotted. They’re suing for what it will cost them to fix the problems. The defendant says he listed all the items, and they’re grasping at straws.

    The plaintiff says he bought a car from the defendant, but he pulled a switcheroo and dumped on old car on him. He says the defendant threatened him, and he wants his money back. The defendant says he sold a perfectly good car with a warranty, and he’s getting nothing.

    'Being Two Payment Shy', 'Failing an Old Friend' & 'Not Scoring With a neighbor' Jul 04, 2024

    The plaintiff says she owned two clothing stores and the defendant bought one. She alleges the defendant stopped making payments, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff promised to mentor her, and she never did a thing to help her. She’s countersuing for breach of contract.

    The plaintiff says he and the defendant have been friends for 25 years. He did some painting and contract work for the defendant but wasn’t paid, so he’s suing her. The defendant says the plaintiff was aggressive with her, even after she let him live in her house, so she cut ties with him. She’s countersuing for damages caused by the plaintiff.

    The plaintiff says her car was parked outside her house and the defendant broke her windshield with a ball. She hasn’t been reimbursed for the damage, so she’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says he was playing ball, but it never hit the windshield. He denies breaking it.

    The plaintiff says he rented an apartment from the defendant, but she got angry and booted him out when he asked if he could move his nephew in after his roommate died. He’s suing for the security deposit. The defendant says the plaintiff up and moved without notice, left the place a mess, and failed to pay the last month’s rent. She says she owes him nothing.

    The plaintiff says she decorated the wedding hall for the plaintiff’s wedding, but the bride complained that her guests didn’t like the reception. The plaintiff says she was just the decorator, not the wedding coordinator, so she needs to be paid and is suing. The defendant says the plaintiff was the coordinator and did a miserable job. She refuses to pay her anything more. She’s countersuing for missing décor.

    The plaintiff says he and his son were hired by the defendant to gather signatures so the defendant could be on the ballot. He claims they worked tirelessly and the defendant stiffed them. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says he’s never even met the plaintiff, only his son. He says he paid the son in full, so he doesn’t know what the father is suing for.

    'Causing a Doggy Dilemma', 'Ruining a Relationship' & 'Slipping Into Gear' Jul 02, 2024

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her ex-boyfriend, and they got a dog named Daisy together. She says he still has the dog, but he’s toxic and aggressive with the poor dog. She fears for her pet, so she’s suing for $500 or the return of her dog. The defendant says he adopted Daisy from the pound and saved her life, and she’s his dog. He’s countersuing for gas, lost wages, and medical bills.

    The plaintiff says the defendant called her crying because he got arrested and couldn’t make bail. As a longtime family friend, she paid for it, and now he’s disappeared. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says he did landscaping work for the plaintiff, so he owes nothing.

    The plaintiff says she bought a clunker of a car from the conniving, unscrupulous defendants, who tried to tell her the car problems were her fault. She’s suing for her money back. The defendants says the transmission tank was overflowing with oil, which ruined the car. They say she’s the one who did it.

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her father, and he owes her money. It’s painful, but she’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff offered to help him out, and it’s ridiculous that she’s suing him because he thought the money was a gift. He’s countersuing for slander.

    The plaintiff says he bought wall-to-wall carpeting from the defendants for his apartment, but the colors started to fade from beige to purple. The defendants won’t do anything, so he’s suing for a refund. The defendants say the plaintiff used a cleaner on it, and he damaged it.

    The plaintiff says the defendant deceived him by selling him a damaged truck that needs to a ton of repairs. He’s suing the used car shark for the state max. The defendant says the plaintiff bought an older car with a lot of miles, and he offered to have his mechanic take a look, but the plaintiff refused.
