    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    'A Wedding Wrecker', 'Suspending an Ex' & 'Taking a Wheeling Long Time' Jun 14, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiffs hired the defendant to photograph their wedding. They said one of their friends brought a nice camera to the wedding to take their own pictures, and the photographer got upset. The plaintiffs argue the defendant shoved the friend, and now he won’t give them their wedding photos. They’re suing for the cost of wedding photography, makeup artists, and emotional distress. The defendant argues the plaintiffs signed a non-compete contract, so no other photographers could be there. He’s countersuing for the cost of over 70 hours of photo editing.

    Then, the plaintiff borrowed her ex-boyfriend’s car and got pulled over one day because she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The plaintiff then got tickets because the car had a cracked windshield and expired tags, but the defendant won’t help her pay for the tickets. Her license ended up getting suspended because she couldn’t pay for the tickets, so she’s suing for the cost of tickets he owes her. The defendant argues he told her about the expired tags and windshield.

    Plus, the plaintiff bought tires and rims from the defendant. He says the defendant delivered them, so he ended up buying tires elsewhere. He’s suing for the cost of the tires and rims, plus interest, and aggravation. The defendant argues he had to special order the rims and he tried contacting the plaintiff to pick them up, but he never showed up. He’s countersuing for storage and harassment.

    'Unhinging An Uncle', 'Lousing Up a Lawn' & 'Wrecking a Recording' Jun 13, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiff rented his apartment to the defendants, who are his niece and her husband. He says they stopped paying rent and he tried to evict them, but they moved out before he could. He claims they made a huge mess and threw a chair through a window. He’s suing for rent and damages. The defendants argue the apartment contained lead paint, and their son ate it. They argue they’ve paid rent and never damaged it. They’re countersuing for losses and emotional distress.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant did tree work on his neighbor’s property, and the defendant drove his large truck on his lawn. He claims the defendant caused damage to his lawn that he was redoing, so he’s suing. The defendant argues he looked at the lawn and didn’t see any damage, so he doesn’t think he owes.

    Plus, the plaintiff brought his car to the defendant for an oil change. He says the defendant’s car shop put the wrong oil filter in the car, and his engine blew. He’s suing for the cost of a new engine. The defendant argues the plaintiff’s car is 16 years old, and he did everything correctly, so he doesn’t owe anything.

    'Being Petty', 'Making The Ink Go Splat' & 'Who Cut The Juice?' Jun 12, 2024

    The plaintiff says she rented a room in the defendant’s house, but the woman would shut off the electricity and gas for days out of spite, and she kicked the plaintiff out with no notice. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says she did the plaintiff a favor by renting the room to her, but she was such a nightmare that the defendant had to call the police. She’s countersuing for rent and damages.

    Then, the plaintiff says she got a tattoo from the defendant, but he pressed too hard and it looks terrible. She’s suing for the cost of removal. The defendant says he’s been in business for 20 years, and he says it looks beautiful. He claims she didn’t take care of it as he had advised.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the crooked defendant took advantage of her. She paid him in advance to do some electrical work and he never did a thing. She’s suing for her money back. The defendant says the plaintiff’s property needed additional work because it’s in a flood zone, and she flipped out when he told her the cost.

    'Double Crossing an Expert', 'Wrong Place Wrong Time' & 'A Hairy Situation' Jun 11, 2024
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says he testified for the defendant in a criminal case, which the defendant won. The plaintiff got fired for testifying, and now the defendant is refusing to pay him their agreed-upon rate, so he’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff’s testimony was vague and unhelpful, and claims he lied on the stand about not being paid. He says he owes nothing.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant’s black Lab attacked her pit bull twice, and the defendant refuses to reimburse her for all the vet bills. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says he shared a yard with the plaintiff’s mother and the plaintiff ignored their unwritten rule about yard usage.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she went to the defendant to get Senegalese braid twists in her hair and spent seven hours at the salon. The twists fell out almost right away, so she wants a refund. The defendant says she told the plaintiff the twists wouldn’t last because she had short hair.

    'You Cheating Loser', 'Wheelie Bad Job' & 'Trying to Phone it With an Ex' Jun 10, 2024

    The plaintiff says he and the defendant dated for a few months until the jealous woman tried to run him over because she thought he was cheating. She then rammed his car, causing extensive damage, so he’s suing for the cost. The defendant says the plaintiff is lying and is suing her because she filed a protection order against him. She’s countersuing for impound fees, a car note, and emotional distress.

    Then, the plaintiff says she ordered new tires and rims for her son’s BMW. The defendant installed the tires, but her son had two blowouts right away. A mechanic said the tires didn’t fit, so they’re suing for triple damages. The defendant says the co-plaintiff was driving the car aggressively, denting the rims. She denies any issue with them.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she dated the defendant for three years, and she put him on her cell phone bills. After they broke up, he stuck her with the bill to get back at her. She’s not going to put up with this, so she’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says he was blindsided by the breakup, and he insists he was paid up.

    'A real Fish Tale', 'Shoddy Chairmanship' & 'Being All Washed Up' Jun 07, 2024

    The plaintiff says he bought what he thought was a genuine taxidermy fish from the defendant, but it turned out to be a plastic toy. He’s suing for a refund. The defendant says the plaintiff saw the fish and his house and bought it. He claims he never told the plaintiff it was real, so he owes nothing.

    Then, the plaintiff says she brought five chairs to the defendant to be refinished and reupholstered. She claims the woman is a hack who ruined her chairs, so she’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says she did great work at a fair price. She’s countersuing for monies still owed.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he took his Camaro through the defendant’s carwash, and a brush damaged his bumper. The defendant says it came in damaged, but the plaintiff is suing for the repair. The defendant says he has video evidence and insists his brushes don’t cause damage. He says he owes nothing.

    'Cashing In' & 'Letting a Friend Down' Jun 06, 2024

    The plaintiff says she met the defendant online and they soon moved in together. She alleges that a few months later, the cad stole thousands from her and blew it at a strip club, and even snuck all his things out of their apartment. She’s suing for the cash she says he stole. The defendant says he paid for everything when they lived together and claims the plaintiff sold his items on eBay, so he took the money out of her account for repayment. He denies owing her a thing.

    Then, the plaintiff says he paid a friend to fix the defendant’s car, but she still hasn’t repaid him. He says it’s a shame, since he and the defendant’s father were war veterans together. He’s suing for the money he’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff borrowed the car, put 900 miles on it and broke it, so he had his friend fix it. She denies owing a penny.

    'It Just Doesn't Work', 'That's One Sick Pup' & 'Mowing Down a Customer' Jun 05, 2024

    The plaintiff says he brought his SUV to the defendant’s shop to have a DVD player installed, and it’s never worked correctly. He says he’s tired of the runaround, so he’s suing for what he paid. The defendant says he installed the DVD unit under warranty, and it broke two days after it expired. He’s countersuing for slander.

    Then, the plaintiff says he bought a Maltese puppy from the defendant, but the dog was sick with parvo, and also had a hernia and kidney failure. He opted to put the puppy to sleep because he was suffering, so he’s suing for everything he’s owed. The defendant says the puppy was perfectly healthy and accuses the plaintiff’s vet of giving the dog a second parvo inoculation, which made him sick.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he dropped his lawn mower off at the defendant’s shop to sell, but they used it for their own personal tasks. On top of that, they’re trying to charge storage fees. He’s suing for the lawn mower “hostage” fees. The defendant says the plaintiff dropped off the mower for repairs, but the man didn’t come back for a year. They’re countersuing for storage fees and an unpaid repair bill.

    'Beating up a Car', 'Hounding a Tenant' & 'Cutting off a Landscaper' Jun 04, 2024

    The plaintiff says she and her brother got into an altercation and his hot-headed girlfriend — the defendant — got involved. The plaintiff alleges she vandalized her car, so she’s suing for repair costs. The defendant says she and the plaintiff used to be friends, and she denies doing any damage to it.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant is his landlord. He claimed the defendant’s dog would get into their bedroom and sleep on the bed, and the defendant wouldn’t do a thing about it, so they moved out. He’s suing for the return of their security deposit. The defendant says the plaintiffs secretly moved in a tenant with dementia who harassed his family and neighbors. He said they left the place a mess, and he had every right to keep the security money.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the defendant hired him to work on her yard, which she had neglected for eight years. After he did an enormous amount of work, she refused to pay. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff told her he could transform her yard, but all he did was ruin it.

    'Taking a Truck', 'Pinning the Blame on an Innocent Man' & 'Tossing It All Away' Jun 03, 2024

    The plaintiff says he parked his truck at a home improvement store to buy cement, but it got towed while he was in the store for five minutes. He’s suing the towing company. The defendant says the plaintiff illegally double parked in a school’s spot, and the school called him.

    Then, the plaintiff says he owns a condo and there was a leak in the defendant’s home below, and the association billed him for the repairs. He denies causing any issues, so he’s suing for the cost. The defendant says 50 gallons of water leaked and the plaintiff is trying to get out of paying for it.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the defendant is her ex-boyfriend. She says he tossed out some of her belongings because his new girlfriend didn’t want them around. She’s suing for their value. The defendant says the plaintiff is just jealous and is trying to get back at him.
