Dr. Sima Yakoby Epstein is a first-generation American whose family always believed in the American dream.

    Show notes

Have you taken some time to think about your other career?

Numerous studies show that millennials, who form the bulk of orthodontists today, are not wired to stick to one career throughout their lifetime.
That means you’ll most likely want to change your career at some point. You may want to transition to being more of a teacher, using your wisdom to collate information and giving in to others.
If you only focus on being a better and better clinician, it might lead to a more miserable end-of-life existence.
No matter what age you are right now, you need to start giving some thought to what else you love doing as it will inform your next career.

Tune in to this 5-Minute Friday to learn more.

    Key Takeaways

    - Fluid intelligence vs. crystallized intelligence (00:34)

    - What else do you love doing (02:06)

    - You may find yourself wanting to get out of orthodontics (03:05)

    Show notes

Having a VA is one of those things you don’t know you need until you get one and realize what you’ve been missing.

Having some tasks taken out of your plate not only saves you time but can improve your quality of life significantly. It allows you to focus on what you love doing and, in the process, even earn more.

Dr. Susan Podray is not only a good orthodontist but also a dyed-in-the-wool entrepreneur. She has a 6-location practice in Georgia besides investing in commercial real estate and also running a side business with her kids.

As you'll be hearing in this episode, Dr. Susan and I have even more things in common. We are both partners at Smile Doctors. We discuss how our practices have become more efficient after joining the OSO. She has even gone ahead and opened a new practice while partnered with Smile Doctors.

You'll definitely find her unique perspectives on many issues helpful, including starting a de novo practice compared with buying an existing practice and creating more income streams into your life as you get older.

Dr. Chris Bonebreak Jackson grew up in an orthodontic family. Her father was the town orthodontist in Clarksville, Maryland. She'd spend a lot of time in the practice helping out with her twin brother, who went to dental school and became an orthodontist straight away.
