    How to prep your change initiative to take time off at end of year Dec 03, 2021

    This is the last episode of The New Way for 2021! Can you believe it?
    As change leaders, we need to schedule meaningful rest and relaxation. Exhaustion and burn out are very common for change managers so we need to ensure we have adequate time off to rejuvenate and prepare for the next season. But how can you prepare your change initiative for your absence?
    In today’s episode, I’m sharing with you the four steps I follow to prepare for time off at the end of the year. These steps will allow you to have peace of mind when you’re away and stay present with your family and friends.
    If you put in the effort by following these steps now, your stakeholders and team will be very grateful for your commitment to the change program and your relationships will strengthen.

    Directing an organisational change team can be a very difficult and challenging time. There are thousands of decisions to make and effective communication and guidance are absolutely essential. Learning your change leadership style and how it impacts your change team, stakeholders, and strategies are vital to the success of your program.


    In this episode, I’ll discuss the importance of understanding and embracing your unique change leadership style. There are four different styles I’ll run you through, including the sponsor, the collaborator, the role model, and the visionary. I’ll explain each different approach and the techniques you can utilize to achieve success for your change team.

    How I decide what to work on next (prioritisation for change managers) Oct 29, 2021

    This episode is the last one in my productivity series for change leaders. Over the last month, I’ve been sharing the exact strategies and techniques I use to get everything done. My goal for each of these topics is to help you become more intentional with your work and time.


    In this episode, I will be talking about how to prioritise your day and decipher the tasks that require your immediate attention. I know that it can feel overwhelming and confusing staring at everything on your to-do list, so I wanted to give you a very effective tool in your toolkit to help you build clarity.


    I’ll share with you the method I use to be productive and effective throughout my change programs - ABCDE. I know we’re not perfect and you’ll have people interrupting you frequently, but I know from experience that whenever I use this method I can get far more work done than when I don’t have a plan.


    I encourage you to implement this tool along with the 5D framework, time blocking, and setting aside time for thinking to become efficient and work with intention. I’m sharing these tools with you, not so you work harder or longer hours, but so you get far more done in less time.

    Are you running from task to task, in and out of meetings, feel overworked and exhausted at the end of your day, but still haven’t gotten anything done?
    As change makers, we’re dealing with more responsibility and the time crunch is stronger than ever. Not surprisingly, there are increasing numbers of burn outs as we work ourselves into the ground trying to be everywhere and accomplish everything.
    That’s why I find it so important to share what’s working for me so you can implement it into your day.
    I have filled this episode to the brim with practical and useful information you can start to use to become more productive and feel in control of your to do list.
    I’ll introduce you to the concept of ‘time blocking’, explain how to use this method daily in your schedule, list the three fundamental steps involved, describe the two key principles that underpin the method, and give you my own top 4 tips to accomplish more everyday.

    Have you felt absolutely overwhelmed with the size of your to do list and don’t know where to begin in your change program?

    I know first hand the tremendous amount on the plate of busy change managers and how the list can feel like it’s never ending. But don’t worry - I am here to help with the 5Ds!

    The 5Ds are a framework that you can adopt as a structured approach to categorizing, prioritizing and progressing all of your tasks in only 30 minutes. They will bring you the clarity to know what you must do now, what you can delegate, what you can defer, what you can diminish, and what you can get rid of.

    I encourage you to use this approach in all aspects of your work life. You’ll get better at this exercise through practice and over time. Your skills at creative problem solving and setting boundaries will improve and you’ll become very efficient at tackling your tasks each week.

    I know it’s really difficult to condense all of the elements of a really successful change program into tools in an essential toolkit, but I have made it my mission to bring it all together for you today.


    In this episode, we are going to look at the four essential ingredients that you must have if you are serious about organisational change success. These ingredients are a very specific and practical guide to really nailing your change program and ensuring that everyone in your change team can work collaboratively, effectively and efficiently.


    We all know that the unforeseen will always happen within any change journey. By incorporating these four ingredients you are giving your team the tools in their toolkit to make decisions on the fly with the cooperation and support of leadership. Don’t waste any time with office politics!


    I know that this isn’t by any means an exclusive list. However, through my extensive experience in the trenches (more years then I care to say!), I have learnt that without these ingredients you just won’t get anywhere.


    When you rock these four ingredients together, the success of your change program becomes inevitable.
