Why women carry the weight of men's issues... Mar 17, 2021
    Show notes

The inner work of becoming a whole & healed individual is a continuous ever-evolving journey. It is a journey that requires folx to face their trauma, limitations, and weakness. When this work doesn't happen, it often reveals itself in our relationships, usually by way of projecting and blame-shifting. More specifically I've noticed men's insecurities, lack of substance, and misogyny rearing its ugly head by suggesting and even advising women to carry these issues. Listen to this week's podcast as Cameo King, The Good Girl Podcast host, and Danielle Moore, licensed mental health therapist of the Refresh Wellness Center, unpack the blatant and subtle ways women carry the weight of men's issues.

Everything I was taught about "what a man should be" was a lie. Mar 10, 2021
    Show notes

The process of unlearning our prescribed identity can be a challenging yet beautiful, painful and glorious, soul-seeking journey. It is a journey of evolution that many of us may take to find the deeper meaning out of life. This week, Emory Law, a burgeoning actor out of Los Angeles, decided to take us on his journey of evolving into a man. He shared that as a 40-year-old man, he is still searching for a path to manhood. He confesses that everything he was taught about "what a man should be" was a lie.

    Confessions of a former F-boy Mar 03, 2021
    Show notes

We have all encountered them. Some of us, have dated, been entangled, and heartbroken by them. Who are they? I am speaking of F-boys.

By definition, a F-boy is a person who manipulates, strings along, gas lights, and can be self-centered with the sole goal of getting what he wants no matters how much proverbial blood is on the floor.

This week, I had the grand opportunity to speak with a former F-boy and unpack his heart, mind, and perspective. I ask, the why, the how, and even the "how can you sleep at night with this type of behavior?"

Listen to the revelatory conversation of former and healed F-boy.

"I grew up in a church that turned into a cult." Feb 24, 2021
Show notes Alesia lives in sunny North Carolina running a full-service podcast management agency. Her journey of faith began at a young with an awe-inspiring story of the power of a church's compassion and grace. But as she grew older, the role of the church in her life shifted from freedom and love to controlling and dictating. In this week's podcast, Alesia's confession of growing up in a church that became a cult only adds to the growing narrative that many Western churches are not what they claim to be. Her story illuminates the fact that some churches are a grab at power and control and not the gospel of Jesus Christ. Listen to the telltale signs that you may be a part of a cult and not a church.

I believed my salvation was in a man Feb 18, 2021
    Show notes

Salvation by definition is the preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss. For some reason, despite the concerted efforts of my mom & aunts, I attached my salvation to a man. I believed my ultimate and highest success and growth both emotionally and spiritually would only come in connection to a man. This is a very dangerous and unfortunate truth for a lot of women and individuals. In this week's podcast, I candidly share how this flawed notion affected my life and what I've done to change it.

An honest conversation about the COVID vaccine with the Ingham County Health Department Feb 10, 2021
    Show notes

The relationship between the Black community and the American health care system is riddled with distrust. The disparities in diagnosis, treatment, and experiences all continue to tell the same story of racism plaguing the lives of Black people even in the doctor's office. As the U.S begins its distribution of the COVID vaccine, it only makes sense that the Black community is hesitant, last in line, and simply deciding not to get vaccinated. Listen as I sit down with the Deputy Health Officer of the Ingham County Health Department, Debbie Edokpolo, and the Medical Director of the Ingham County Health Department, Nike Shoyinka as we have an honest conversation about the COVID vaccine.

How I am living with two opposing truths Feb 03, 2021
    Show notes

One of the most consistently challenging thought processes I have yet to come to terms with is cognitive dissonance or duality. Duality is when there are two competing thoughts or opposing beliefs that are true. And ya'll, that space is rough, especially when faith and reality are very present! The last couple of months highlighted the areas of my life where duality created constant tension. So in my 2021 season opener, I share how I and many of us, have come face to face with duality and how it exists in our faith and relationships and what I've decided to do about it.

The Grind Culture lied... Dec 10, 2020
    Show notes

It's the end of the year and unfortunately, some of us are filled with pensive sadness because we are assessing our progress toward failed goals. Plenty of people, including myself, have been grinding day in and day out, and we still haven’t necessarily hit the bullseye when it comes to success in our lives.

So I'm sharing three principles to guide us as we are forced to face those unmet goals & plans from 2020.

The foundation of those principles is you cannot speed up God’s timing however grind culture will have you thinking differently.

The Truth about Education: past, present, and potential Dec 03, 2020
    Show notes

Education is a vast, deep, and unending topic. It's something that affects every fiber of our being; where we live, what professions we choose, to even the evolution of humankind. So as we are ending the year that has caused, all systems, especially the educational system to pause and (hopefully) assess its weakness, it's only fitting that we have a conversation about the complex structure and those affected. Please listen to three perspectives of an educational entrepreneur with 20 years of experience, a student who's navigated the educational system, and a community organization that's re-engaging opportunity youth into the educational system.

Special Thanksgiving Episode: Changing Our Perspective on 2020 Nov 25, 2020
    Show notes

There's no doubt in my mind that the year 2020 has been an absolute whirlwind filled with anxiety from national tensions to the tiring and revelatory fights for freedom. And because of this, many of us have collectively made the declaration to "Cancel 2020" or shared the sentiments of "I hate it here." While these popular phrases may sum up our disdain for the current state of affairs, I want to challenge us to change our perspective as we enter into the last few weeks of the year. Listen as both Cameo King, the Good Girl Podcast host, and Danielle Moore, regular contributor, and licensed mental health therapist discuss four crucial points that will challenge your perspective of 2020.
