Integrative Dermatology: Acne, Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea & Beyond with Dr. Julie Greenberg | Ep 156 May 25, 2021
    Show notes

Ready for a high-level conversation about the connection between our gut microbiome and our skin? Today Erin sits down with Dr. Julie Greenberg, ND to get DEEP into this topic, exploring the effect of western diets, key roles of specific gut bacteria, common skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, and rosacea, the relationship of candida and other fungal problems, and yes - Botox and fillers, too.

If you’re a practitioner or clinician, or even someone who geeks out on nutrition information, you’ll want to bust out a pen and paper for some notes on this one! Dr. Greenberg delivers an outstanding, comprehensive take on this delicate connection that you’ll absolutely want to tune in for.

Dr. Greenberg is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and Registered Herbalist RH(AHG) who specializes in integrative dermatology. She is passionate about natural skin care and believes that many of today’s chronic skin diseases can be healed by using evidence-based alternative treatments.

She uses her naturopathic training to address the root cause of dermatological disease by addressing inflammation due to gut microbiome dysfunction as well as a disrupted skin barrier. She also works with a group of integrative MD Board Certified Dermatologists through LearnSkin.com, a website for continuing dermatology medical education, where she’s the Program Chair of the Naturopathic & Integrative Dermatology Series, a 20 course AMA CE program.

    Unpacking Core Beliefs | Ep 155 May 18, 2021
    Show notes

There’s a universal theme among many of us that says we aren’t good enough unless we’re doing more, being more, creating more. Our society is set up to reward this behavior, too: from pay raises and promotions to likes and comments that say, “You’re crushing it!!” it’s hard to think you’re still worthy or enough if you slow down or take a step back.

Today Erin speaks from the heart and draws from examples in her own life and business to discuss the concept of unpacking core beliefs about ourselves, how they tend to show up in our lives, and how shifting these core beliefs can radically change your life in ways you wouldn’t see otherwise. It touches on a lot of things many of us are experiencing right now (burnout, stress) and things we may be wanting to tap into or bring more into our lives (intuition, boundaries).

If you’ve been waiting for a little more woo on the pod, this episode is definitely for you!

How to Determine the Right Amount of Sugar for You | Ep 151 Apr 20, 2021

Blood sugar regulation is one of the most, if not THE most, important thing to consider when setting out to improve your health. This is often the first thing Erin addresses with clients in her 1:1 practice, and is THE reason she created her 4-week plan to determine your body's unique carbohydrate needs and end the carb confusion - The Carb Compatibility Project™. This episode is part one of a two-parter from Instagram Live all about blood sugar and how you can begin to tap into your own authority to determine your unique carbohydrate and sugar needs.

    Energetics of the Four-Phase Cycle | Ep 149 Apr 06, 2021
    Show notes

This week’s episode takes a dive into the four-phase cycle, a concept introduced in a recent interview with Le’Nise Brothers (linked below). It’s been said that the menstrual cycle mimics the phases of the moon and even our four seasons on Earth. While many discussions tend to focus only on the negative aspects of a menstrual cycle, Erin points out that each phase can be an opportunity to highlight things in our lives that need to change. Whether you’re a menstruating person or not, you can tap into this energy. This episode of the Funk’tional Nutrition Podcast breaks down the processes that occur within each of these phases, what it means energetically, and how you can harness the wisdom contained in each phase so that what once felt like a burden can be wielded as a superpower.

    In this episode:

    Show notes

Menstruation is an inherently inflammatory process, and if you’ve got underlying inflammation going on in your body, this can cause menstruation to feel a lot worse for some folks. On today’s episode of the Funk’tional Nutrition Podcast, Erin sits down with Le’Nise Brothers to answer your questions about intense periods, including hormonal shifts throughout your cycle, PMS vs PMDD, pain symptoms to pay attention to, and strategies to help feel better throughout your cycle. If you have PCOS or endometriosis, suffer from painful periods, or are wondering how you can better support your body throughout your cycle, this will be a helpful episode to tune into!

Le’Nise Brothers is a registered nutritionist, mBANT, mCHNC, specialising in women’s health, hormones and the menstrual cycle, yoga teacher and host of the Period Story podcast. She works with women who want to get control of sugar cravings, mood swings and hormonal acne, bloating and headaches, as well as increase their energy levels.

Le’Nise has helped many women with hormonal issues ranging from PMS, PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, heavy, painful, missing & irregular periods, post-natal depletion, perimenopause and menopause.
