    Show notes

UnFYB graduate, Julie Beedle, joins us on today's episode to talk about following her gut to take a massive pivot in her business. Julie started her entrepreneurial journey by becoming a Certified Yoga Teacher Therapist, which took her years and cost her thousands. Like many of us business owners, COVID came and changed the rest of Julie's business as she'd known it. After hike with her sister, Julie decided to take a chance and pursue her lifelong passion: photography. In today's episode, Julie talks to us about all the ways she tried to make her yoga business work (and all of her endeavors so far!) and how she knew it was time to take a massive risk and bet on herself in order to pursue her photography business full time. [Biz 49] Your launch flopped, now what? Aug 17, 2021
    Show notes

You just closed to doors on a recent launch. You didn't quite hit the numbers you were hoping to hit. Now what? Do you drop off the face of the planet and hide because everyone must know that your launch didn't go well!? Do you instantly go searching for another job? A big and very common problem I see in the online business space can be summarized by the following: mismanaged expectations. Hear me out. The first few launches of your business will likely not be wildly successful. And guess what? It's OK! But, if you set out to somehow magically nail a massive launch straight out the gate, everything is going to feel so much more impossible than it needs to. YES, business is tough, but it's not impossible. After a "flopped" launch-- take a break. I usually advise to my business clients that they give themselves at least one week after a launch to do.... well, nothing. YES- even if the launch went well. After that, I suggest that they go into launch-audit planning mode. You can listen to the 4 part series I did on auditing your launch here, here, here, and here. And then- take look at your expectations. NOPE- you probably don't need an entirely new offer. YES- you should probably look at your calendar and start prepping for another launch- YES, the same program! NOPE- you don't need to lower your rates. YES- you can always offer a back pocket offer. YES- you should look at your content creation, offer positioning, and copywriting. The biggest take away though is that it certainly won't get any easier or any better if you quit. If you thought business was going to be instantly easy and full of immediate wins-- you may want to look at those expectations ;)

223: You are the solution to your problem(s) Aug 10, 2021
    Show notes

You are your own biggest problem, and you are your own biggest solution. You'll want to tune into this episode if: -you're always looking for the next "magical missing piece." This usually sounds like "I just need _____ & I will finally be ______." But, there's always something else missing. It's never enough. There's always one last "magical missing piece" that you're searching for. -you've hired trainers, coaches, therapists, mentors, etc. and yet still feel stuck exactly where you've always been -you have "grass is greener syndrome" -you're addicted to the honeymoon phases of life This episode is both for coaches and clients alike-- at the end of the day, regardless of your "title", we're all human. And this episode begins to capture the complexities of the human experience as it relates to growth, change, relationships, and everything in between.

[biz 48] business success is more than just revenue Aug 05, 2021
    Show notes

Whether you're trying to make more revenue in your business or if you're happy with what your business is bringing in-- focusing solely on revenue can be a tricky way to plan and build your business. Yes, revenue is one area that we look at when business planning & strategizing, but that is not where we stop. There is so much that you have to consider when you own and operate a business, and this episode will touch on the birds eye view of the other areas that you need to take into consideration when you think about your current and future business success.

222: What is foam rolling actually for? (it's not what you think) Jul 27, 2021
    Show notes

Foam rolling- you've probably done it. The actual term is SMR (self myofascial release) and you can do it with a number of different modalities outside of a foam roller like: tennis ball, lacrosse ball, with your hands, a rolling pin, a theragun, frozen water bottle, etc. If you're a trainer, you probably have your clients performing SMR on a regular basis. If you're a client, you probably think that since it hurts so good (it does!) that it's "working."

But, what does foam rolling ACTUALLY do? It's not what you think. This is a great episode for clients & trainers alike. You see, the thing is that we need more trainers who know what they're doing and more clients who know if their trainer knows what they're doing. We also need more integrity inside the Physical Therapy world (hard sometimes due to insurance!) and especially inside the Chiropractor world. This is a must listen if you've ever foam rolled or prescribed foam rolling to your clients. _____ Sign up for The Barbell Collective waitlist here!

*Trigger Warning: This episode mentions a story regarding drug abuse and eating disorders. Please honor your healing and proceed with caution. **Content warning: Outside of the trigger warning, this entire episode is going to go down hard. We've all heard that your body is not your business card- because it's not. But let's take that one step farther: your body is not your business card AND your clients are not your billboards. *gulp* I know. This one's not going to go down easy. I hope you tune in anyway :)
