Your CEO Teacher ® mental health check in

Overwhelm, imposter syndrome, general malaise, depression…we don't talk about mental health in schools nearly enough! My guest today, luckily, is a mental health advocate who is actively changing that fact. Friends, this interview is so inspirational because it will not only debunk the idea that you have to do #allthethings, it will also show you how just one free resource can become an agent for good. Today, you're going to learn how, through a passion to support mental health for students and mental health in schools, my guest was catalyzed both into the spotlight and into an amazing business.

Mental health for students begins with your own mental health

It is with great pleasure that I introduce Erin Castillo. Erin is a high school special education teacher living and teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is passionate about incorporating mental health into the classroom and helping other educators do the same. Erin offers mental health resources and guides on her Instagram along with her mental health check-in poster that has been featured on Good Morning America and the Kelly Clarkson Show. When Erin isn't teaching, Erin can be found outside with her 3 year old son, beagle, and her high school sweetheart. While you listen to today's episode, perhaps it's worth asking: when was the last time you checked in with yourself? Listen here!

In this episode, you will learn:

    • Why mental health for schools begins with mental health for teachers
    • How asking for help indicates maturity and leads to you receiving more support, guidance, and, ultimately, being a better teacher

5 Steps to Overcome Your Limiting Beliefs About Money Sep 29, 2021
    Show notes

How to overcome limiting beliefs about money

As a former limiting beliefs expert, I, too, used to get sucked into the limiting beliefs about money story. Friend, I'm here to tell you – while getting a graduate degree does increase your income (I have a masters AND a specialist degree) and while, yes, a masters degree is one way to increase your income, what if I told you that what's really holding you back, what's really keeping you from making the income you desire, is your limiting beliefs about money? "Okay, Kayse, but what are limiting beliefs?" Well, limiting beliefs might include your limiting thoughts about the world you were born into. Or a limiting belief might be the belief that your past dictates your future. Friend, I have sooooooo been there. And that's why today I'm going to show you how to overcome limiting beliefs one step at a time.

Overcome limiting beliefs about money by starting with your mindset

Have you ever put so much attention on your budget that you've surrounded yourself with lack? For example, I know a lot of popular money gurus sometimes can make you feel that way. In the past, I used to allow my infatuation with my budget to pull me into a place of lack thinking. And then, lo and behold, I would BE in a place of lack being! Can you relate? Today, I want to share 5 steps on how to overcome your limiting beliefs about money once and for all, so that you can start rolling in the dough every single day without fear and live the life you've always imagined. Listen to this episode for a primer on how to change limiting beliefs for good!

In this episode, you will learn:

    • That changing your perspective on "what money is and how you relate to it" will transform your resources
    • How to overcome limiting beliefs about your past relationship to money (hint: your past will no longer dictate your future)
    • Why setting explicit financial goals will put you on the path toward abundance
    • Why one of the most insidious limiting beliefs on money is the belief that you must give EVERYTHING away for free (it's not true and I'll show you why!)
    • How to overcome the limiting belief that you "must have money to make money…"

How to become limitless while selling on TpT and beyond

Sometimes when you set out to have an interview about selling on TpT, you unexpectedly receive a magical experience that sets your soul on fire. Friend, I am so excited for you, because setting your heart ablaze is exactly what today's episode is going to do. Whether you're wondering how to sell on TpT, how to start your TpT store, or how to hear more of those TpT dashboard "cha-chings!," this podcast episode will undoubtedly be an inspiration. For what it's worth, my recommendation would be to bookmark this episode and return to it again and again or anytime you're wondering how to sell on TpT or how to sell more on TpT. Because there's so much more here than just for TpT sellers (or soon-to-be sellers). Rather, today you're going to hear how to move beyond being TpT teachers and, instead, move toward becoming a CEO Teacher®…with the help of these three success stories.

How to sell on TpT with Jocelynn, Sydney, and Keanna

It is my pleasure to introduce three amazing ladies who have been students inside of the CEO Teacher® School. Friend, meet Sydney Lafrenz, Jocelynn Hubbard, and Keanna Funderburk. They are, indeed, going to talk about how they are rocking it in their businesses — what they do, what their trials and tribulations have been, and, most of all, how they found success as TpT sellers. That's right, there's waaaaaay MORE to being a TpT seller than having a TpT store. So get your pen and paper ready, sit back, and listen to this roundtable of ladies share how they did it and what they're doing now.

SELLING ON TPT WITH TODAY'S GUESTS

Jocelynn Hubbard is the founder and managing director of Custom Teaching Solutions, LLC. She is an experienced educator, speaker, professional development creator, and facilitator. Driven by a passion to see the diverse people of our world feel welcomed, affirmed, and celebrated, she provides training on becoming and remaining culturally competent. Jocelynn received a B.S. in Education from Miami University (OH) and an MA in Education from The University of North Carolina – Pembroke. She also has a graduate certificate in Gifted & Talented instruction from The University of North Carolina – Charlotte.

Sydney Lafrenz holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. She taught 4th grade for 7 years but left the classroom a year ago to focus on supporting student teachers in landing their dream job and transitioning from student to teacher. While working from home as a TpT seller and her Teacher For Hire online coaching course, Sydney is also a mom to 2 girls and one little boy on the way!

Keanna Funderburk currently teaches fourth-grade math, science, and social studies in Metro Atlanta. She specializes in making learning engaging for students and making upper elementary math instruction hands-on. She was named her school's 2020 Teacher of the Year. In her seven years as an educator, she has also had experience teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade. She uses social media to share teaching ideas, connect with other educators and The Art of FUNology is her TpT store.

In this episode, you will learn:

    • How to manage being a TpT seller, a CEO Teacher ® student, and a full-time teacher in the classroom

Ah yes…Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket…and by that I mean tips on Search Engine Optimization. Admittedly, I reference SEO a lot throughout this podcast. And the reason I do, of course, is because when I learned the techniques of search engine optimization, it helped me go from zero to hero with my TpT products, my blog posts, my instagram post, and, well, so much more. Moreover, when I talk about how to leverage search engine optimization traffic, I'm talking about how to make sure that your products on TpT — either the ones that you already have or the ones that you intend to make — are the products that people are actually searching for. With this in mind, I'm going to let you in on a little secret (and you may have guessed it already): to make products that people are actually searching for, first, it helps to optimize for them.

In today's episode, I'm going to give you 5 tips on search engine optimization for your TpT products that you should start implementing…well, yesterday. Additionally, to continue to receive tips on search engine optimization, we cover SEO each week in our coaching calls. Why? Because that's how important search engine optimization is. That is, with just a small tweak in your SEO-perspective, you will have the power to change your entire teacher-business game. In fact, if you're ready to take this Golden Ticket to a first-class look behind the magic of exponential business growth, then listen to this episode!

When it comes to your TpT Store Name, your TpT Store Banner Size, and your TpT Store Rank…"Choose Your Hard"

I did it. I ventured to the other side. Thanks to my 17 year old son, this 34 year old mamma of 5 (that's me!) downloaded TikTok. Here's the deal, friend, downloading TikTok is way easier than starting a TpT Store. Downloading TikTok is way easier than coming up with TpT Store ideas. And downloading TikTok is, certainly, waaaaaaaaay easier than learning how to promote your TpT store. Nonetheless, I was thinking of y'all when I discovered a new TikTok trend. After hours in the TikTok universe, I found "choose your hard." Have you seen this? Here's the deal — people share two difficult things and then follow it with "choose your hard." For example, "Being a teacher is hard, starting a Tpt store is hard. Choose your hard."

Starting a TpT store from scratch is hard. NOT starting a TpT store at all is hard. Choose your hard.

You see it, too, right? Okay, let me give you another example: finding a TpT store name that's unique is hard. Not fulfilling your life's calling is hard. Choose your hard. Or how about this one: making your first $1,000 on your TpT store is hard. Struggling financially off of just your teaching salary is hard. Choose your hard. You get my drift. So if you're ready to choose your hard today and if your're ready to start or expand your online teachers business and accelerate your TpT store growth – this is the sign you've been looking for. Tune into today's podcast episode and I'll share how you can begin to start a TpT store. Let's climb this TpT-store mountain together!

In this episode, you will learn:

    • That starting a TpT Store begins by improving your daily routines
    • Why making systems around your business logistics will accelerate your TpT Store growth and TpT store ideas
    • How to Promote Your TpT Store by focusing on the finish line
    • That getting your mindset right has to start before you start a TpT store

Where fairytales come true: a story on how to live your best life

I have secretly been planning this podcast episode — all about how to live your best life — in my mind for more than two years. Bringing this story to you, friend, is…well, a dream come true. As you'll soon hear, it all started once upon a time, many, many years ago. There I was, presenting at a conference, when Stephanie Osmundson and Loreal Hemenway made themselves known to me. And then…well, you'll just have to listen to this episode to get the rest of the story because their tale is the stuff that living your dreams is made of. (Spoiler alert: Stephanie and Loreal are a case study on what it means to "live your dream" and they'll show you how!)

How to live your best life now

Stephanie and Loreal are not only best friends (and have been for many years), they are also business partners and the owners of Happily Ever Elementary. Most of all, they are — literally — living their best life now! And on today's podcast episode, they will not only share what it means to live your best life, they will also offer strategies and tools for you to do the same. As Stephanie and Loreal attest, you can become anything that you want to become, friend! The trick, of course, is to get really clear on what you want first. And if you can figure that out, anything (and I mean ANYTHING) is possible. As a teaser, their happily ever after includes being both stay-at-home moms AND teachers in the classroom. Are you ready to begin living your dream? Listen to this episode for all of the inspiration…

ABOUT STEPAHNIE AND LOREAL AND HAPPILY EVER ELEMENTARY

Stephanie and Loreal are two young teachers who are on a mission to make classroom dreams come true! This journey revolves around bringing meaningful engagement to instruction and creating beautiful learning spaces that remind children of Disneyland. They are also both mamas to two boys, with Loreal's first precious daughter on the way. In an effort to spend more time with their growing families, the two will be splitting a teaching contract for the first time at their neighborhood elementary school. It is a dream come true for these two teachers and now they can focus on finding the longed-for work life balance.

In this episode, you will learn:

    • How living your dream begins with turning your back on fear
    • That to succeed you must START
    • Why building trust first is instrumental to live your best life now
    • That when failure befalls, being honest, open, and genuine may allow you to connect more fully with your audience

I've got a question for you, teacher friend — when the end-of-year school bell rings, what do you do with those top-notch worksheets that you poured time, energy, and copious amounts of caffeine into creating? Do you (a) squirrel those precious resources away into one of your 102,000 file folders or do you (b) make a few minor tweaks to your worksheets and then list them on Teachers Pay Teachers? If you opted for option A, maybe that's because you're wondering: how much does it cost to sell on teachers pay teachers? Or maybe you're thinking how do you make products to sell on teacher pay teachers? Show notes

Advice from an expert on online business legal requirements

I constantly tell people to stay in their zone of genius, to keep the main thing the main thing, and when it comes to online business legal requirements or how to start an online business legally, well my friend, that's one thing that I'm NOT an expert in. And yet, as everyone struggles with the legal requirements for their online business at some point in their CEO Teacher journey (I have soooooooooo been there....), that's why today we're consulting an expert. Friend, I can't tell you how happy I am that on today's show, I am interviewing Brittany Ratelle. Brittany is a lawyer who specializes in copyright and trademark law and she's going to break down how to start an online business legally.

The episode you've been waiting for - legal requirements for your online business

Brittany Ratelle is an attorney for creative and online entrepreneurs who helps people become more confident business owners through legal advice for their online businesses. Moreover, she has helped hundreds of business owners protect and grow their brands and has worked with Sharon Says So, Bravery Magazine, Bucket List Family, and many others. With a background in PR, marketing, and law, Brittany helps modern creative businesses navigate the digital landscape without losing their minds (or sense of humor). She believes in the power of cute office supplies AND good contracts and hosts a weekly podcast, Creative Counsel for Entrepreneurs. She also runs an e-commerce shop selling DIY legal resources called Creative Contracts. With this in mind, you're going to love today's show because you're about to learn how to make money with an online business after you've set up your online business legally. So without further ado, please jump in and listen to this episode.

In this episode, you will learn:

    • The online business legal requirements and best practices to implement when it comes to naming your online business, your online products, or your online brand
    • Why your first priority to start an online business legally should be your brand name
    • Which tool is best to protect your framework or curriculum
    • Why making an LLC is the cheapest, most flexible way to put a fence between your business assets and your personal assets
