The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 3rd study session on Leanita McClain's posthumously published A Foot In Each World. McClain is another extraordinary illustration of the power and importance of black journalists. She had articles published in the Chicago Tribune and The Washington Post. She frequently used her columns to investigate how Racism impacted black people. She succumbed to suicide in May of 1984 at the age of 32. Her suicide note reveals the degree to which White Supremacy destroyed her mental health. She wrote: "Do not try to pull my back into this world. I will never live long enough to see my people free anyway." A Foot In Each World is a collection of her poetry and essays that was edited by her former husband and journalist Clarence Page. Analyzing her work chronologically offers insight on her evolving thoughts on Racism as well as her mental anguish. It seems that her fear of being rejected or vilified by other black people was a constant source of pain. She also seemed to harbor hopes and heartache over a few "Good Whites." Last week we reviewed her phenomenal essay, "How Chicago Taught Me To Hate Whites" - which remains an exemplary representation of top-notch journalism and a devastatingly accurate commentary on what it means to be White. Karen Branan visits The Context of White Supremacy. A White Woman and author, Ms. Branan submits an lofty 50 year career as a journalists. She's been published in Life, Mother Jones, the Atlanta-Journal-Constitution to name a few. We'll examine her first book, The Family Tree: A Lynching In Georgia, A Legacy of Secrets, and My Search For The Truth. Branan excavates her family history to discover the details about a 1912 lynching in Georgia. In response to the killing of one White man, a White Terrorist mob took one black female and three black males from jail to lynch and mutilate their bodies. It's seems likely all four were innocent of this crime. Branan asserts that White men's proclivity for sexually molesting black females was at the heart of this case and much of the activity surrounding Racism of this period. She provides context for the Georgia massacre by incorporating the tireless work of Ida B Wells-Barnett as well the widely popular fiction of Thomas Dixon Jr. - who authored the Clansman, which was adapted to the blockbuster film Birth Of A Nation. We'll ask if Ms. Branan sees similarities to the climate of the Georgia massacre and the current rise of presidential hopeful Donald J. We'll examine news reports from the past seven days and - hopefully - promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Former First Lady and Suspected Race Soldier Nancy "Just Say No" Reagan died this week at the age of 94. President Obama was pilloried for skipping her funeral. Speaking of resurrections, Senator Bernie Sanders resuscitated his presidential campaign by defeating Hillary Clinton in the Michigan Primary. Once again, non-white people were credited with swaying the the final result - black Michigan voters didn't come through for Clinton. Interestingly, during the Flint, Michigan debate preceding the primary, Sanders was questioned about his "racial blind spots." While responding he said that Whites are ignorant about ghetto life and - more importantly - about being poor. Whites in Appalachia were pissed. Meanwhile, Donald Trump supporters have demonstrated no ignorance about being White or how they feel about black people. Black attendees at Trump rallies continue to be violently assaulted by Whites. It increasingly looks like the refinement era of White Supremacy is concluding. This appears to be exerting an enormous toll on #BlackMentalHealth. She had content published in the Chicago Tribune and The Washington Post. Her columns mostly focused on Racism and the terrorism waged against black people in all areas of people activity. She succumbed to suicide in May of 1984 at the age of 32. Her suicide letter illustrates the degree to which White Supremacy decimated her mental health. She wrote: "Do not try to pull my back into this world. I will never live long enough to see my people free anyway." A Foot In Each World is a compillation of writings that was edited by her former husband Clarence Page. He includes some of McClain's poetry to reveal the greater depths of McClain's brilliance and heartache. It seems that her fear of being spurned or vilified by other black people was a constant source of despair She also seemed to harbor unsatisfied hopes of at least a few "Good Whites." Sabrina Johnson visits The Context of White Supremacy. Ms. Johnson has researched the science of counter-racism for a number of years. She's questioned Admitted Racists like Ferrell Winfree and studied the work of Neely Fuller Jr. and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing for years. She had the opportunity to attend the Cress Welsing Institute for over a decade, and even had the pleasure of traveling with Dr. Welsing for speaking engagements. We'll get her reflections on the third generation physician and author as well as her thoughts on how Dr. Welsing's work changed her understanding of White Supremacy. Ms. Johnson heard Dr. Welsing's speculations on the 2016 Presidential election; we'll get her analysis of how things may look by the time November arrives. Professor Daniel Shaw visits The Context of White Supremacy. A Golden Gloves boxer having twice fought in Madison Square Garden, Shaw teaches Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Race, Ethnicity, Class and Gender at the City University of New York. He's authored five books including: My Son Blazes within Me: Reflections on a Poor "white" Family's Survival and 365 Days of Resistance. Professor Shaw provided one of the most tacky illustrations of White Supremacy in the seven year history of The C.O.W.S. We're always excited to converese with Whites who allege to be working against Racism and willing to speak truthfully about The Problem/Racism. We'll get his view on the presidential election and likelihood of Donald Trump occupying the White House. We'll also get his thoughts on the Akai Gurley trial and the protests in support of convicted killer Peter Liang. We'll examine news reports from the past seven days and - hopefully - promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS The torturous labyrinth to the November presidential election continued this week, with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump snaring commanding victories on Super Tuesday - each candidate won seven states. Significantly, black voters were widely and consistently credited with Clinton's victories over Senator Bernie Sanders. Meanwhile, Trump didn't seem to be bruised at the polls by public backing from Dr. David Duke and other overt White Supremacists. Speaking of overt Racism, this first week of March marks the 25 year anniversary of the late Rodney King being bludgeoned on camera by the Los Angeles Police Department. The Los Angeles Times asserts that the recorded mauling significantly reduced incidents of officers using batons - also known as "nigger knockers" - on California citizens. In fact, the relationship between enforcement officials and negro citizens has improved so drastically that it's hard believe an unarmed black male was shot and killed in Alabama. Adding to the shock, a White officer, Aaron Smith, has been arrested and charged with murder. His attorney, Mickey McDermott, contends that this is an example of "political correctness" run amok. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the debut study session on Leanita McClain's posthumously published A Foot In Each World. McClain was a superb journalist who had essays published in the Chicago Tribune and The Washington Post. Her columns examined Racism and the terrorism waged against black people in all areas of people activity. She committed suicide in May of 1984 at the age of 32. Her suicide note reveals the degree to which White Supremacy eviscerated her mental health. She wrote: "Do not try to pull my back into this world. I will never live long enough to see my people free anyway." A Foot In Each World is a collection of her various essays that was edited by her former husband Clarence Page. McClain often focused on the city of Chicago, Illinois. Her writings suggest that she endured a great deal of angst about being placed in a better position that most black people. We'll note the consistency of this conflict and compare this to McClain's commentary on the people who decide which black people will be in the so called middle class... Ross Howell Jr. visits The Context of White Supremacy. A University of Virginia alumnus, prolific writer and a White man, Howell lives in North Carolina with his wife and rescued hounds. We'll examine his freshly printed debut novel, Forsaken. The book centers around an impoprtant piece of authentic Virginia history. Howell describes the tragic life of Virginia Christian. This black teenager was given the death penalty and executed for killing her White female employer in 1912. Christian alleged that the White woman, Ida Belote, falsely accused her and physically assaulted her with an object; Christian defended herself and killed Belote in the process. Christian was expeditiously arrested, convicted and electrocuted. We'll ask why Ross Howell became interested in this case as well as why he chose present this material in the form of fiction. The main character who guides us through Forsaken is a "well-meaning" White journalist (Charlie Mears), who does practice Racism, but is eventually accused of betraying his obligations to the White Race. We'll examine news reports from the past seven days and - hopefully - promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Tragically similar to the 1989 Central Park Five case - that presidential frontrunner Donald Trump continues to rage against - a New York attorney has dropped rape charges against a group of non-white males who were falsely accused of sexually accosting a young White girl. The Washington Post reported that not only did the young victims engage in consensual sex, the young teens interrupted the girl and her drunk father who were engaged in sexual incest in public. Speaking of The Big Apple, thousands of protesters rallied behind convicted killer and former NYDP officer Peter Liang. Many Asians maintain that Liang is only facing prison time because he is not White and that he should not be "scapegoated" for police terrorism against black citizens. Not all "Chinese Americans" endorse this stance. In upstate New York, three black female students at the University of Albany have been charged with filing false reports and assault. Earlier this year, the black students reported being racially brutalized on a bus. Enforcement officers now report that video footage contradicts their claim and shows that they were the aggressors. Across the country, a group of former San Jose State University White thugs were not convicted of hate crimes for their 2013 terrorist assault of a black male freshmen; the young Race soldiers placed a bike lock around the black scholars throat and called him "three fifths" and "fraction." The White hoodlums were convicted of misdemeanor battery charges; the prosecutor chose not to pursue felony charges.
