The Context of White Supremacy hosts our sixth study session on Gavin de Becker's 1997 bestseller, The Gift of Fear: Survival Signals That Protect Us from Violence. de Becker is a White man, Racist Suspect. A number of C.O.W.S. listeners suggested that we study this book to help non-white people better grasp when they might be violated. The System of White Supremacy is designed to encourage White and non-white people to harm black people. The hope is that by reading this book, listeners will be more alert and responsive to signals that inform of us of possible danger. Interestingly, in some circles this text is regarded as "feminist" literature. de Becker does position (White) Women as the prototypical victims of violence - while completely ignoring the omnipresent brutality against black people. Last week's segment brought the full spotlight on OJ Simpson. de Becker again acknowledged that he worked for the prosecution in the Simpson trial, and he devoted a healthy chunk of the reading to discussing the obviousness of Simpson's guilt. He also presented valuable information on the importance of accepting evidence - previous violent behavior, confrontations with police - that may point to future violence. He also suggested thinking carefully before filing a restraining order. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Convicted sexual terrorist and former Oklahoma City Police officer Daniel Holtzclaw had his appeal denied. He's serving more than 260 years for his 2014 conviction for sexually assaulting black females. Speaking of racial attacks, President Donald J. Trump continued to blast black citizens and elected officials. This week he targeted Congressman Elijah Cummings and his Maryland district before launching into Al Sharpton, who the president called a "racist" and a "conman." After verbally reprimanding these black people, the president addressed the 400 year anniversary of slaves being stolen and brought to Jamestown, Virginia. Speaking of mass violence, we'll address today's El Paso, Texas shooting where 20 people are reported dead and dozens more wounded. This program is uniquely constructed to improve non-white people's problem-solving strategies and revamp how black people think, speak, act and control emotions while on the job. Any listeners who've assembled a code to minimize conflicts with White and/or non-white co-workers, bypass demotions, write-ups, terminations or other forms of violence we experience under Racist work conditions should be first to call in with particulars. We are always excited and grateful to hear the experiences of "black entrepreneurs." Please, let us know how "working for yourself" improves your employment experience. Only this time, the White marksmen took selfies next to the desecrated marker. They were later identified as University of Mississippi students, but have yet to receive disciplinary action from the school. Administrators insist shooting the Till plaque is not a violation of Ole Miss policy. Showing the racial progress since the days of Till's murder, President Donald J. Trump spent much of the week responding to controversy surrounding tweets he made opposing a number of non-white elected officials - including Congresswomen Ilhan Omar, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. While the House of Representatives voted to "condemn" the tweets - whatever that means, the murder of Elijah Al-Amin on July 4th in Arizona. The 17-year-old had his throat cut by a White convict who claims the rap music made him frightful. PBS and NPR tricked Gus into viewing the Academy Award nominated documentary, Hale County This Morning, This Evening. Although it's not "The Hate U Give," it's another illustration of Racist promotion and consumption of "negro trauma dramas."
