The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 8th and final study session on Gavin de Becker's The Gift of Fear. This bestselling text is celebrated by Oprah Winfrey and has spawned a series of books and lectures produced by de Becker, a White man. Although the text does not explicitly mention Racism at any point, it routinely directs attention towards White Supremacy with ceaseless references to OJ Simpson, remarks about Al Sharpton and de Becker's dislike of "political correctness." Last week's session focused on political assassinations and celebrity stalkers. de Becker mentions the attempted murder of former presidential candidate and governor of Alabama George Wallace - a proud White Supremacist and notorious villain during the 1960's Civil Rights effort. He fails to mention any of the numerous black people who were assassinated attempting to address White Supremacy. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Jason Miller. A North Carolina State University professor of English, Dr. Miller is a White man and who studies the life and writing of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Langston Hughes. He's credited with locating an original recording of Dr. King giving a "trial run" of his "I Have a Dream Speech" that was given in North Carolina nine months before the 1963 March on Washington. Earlier this summer, Dr. Miller published a report on North Carolina freedom fighter Dorothy Cotton and her "relationship" with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In the report, Dr. Miller references a number allegations about extramarital affairs and promiscuous behavior by the civil rights minister. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS A week after dozens were murdered in Texas and Ohio as a result of White Terrorism, a Norway White killer cited the recent mass shootings as inspiration for his attack on a mosque. In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Suspected White Supremacist authorities originally prohibited two non-white Congresswomen, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, from visiting the region. The ban was later lifted. In Arkansas, a White Woman held four black male students at gun point and accused them of suspicious behavior. The teens were selling cards for a school fundraiser. Jerri Kelly, who happens to be the wife of a Cross County Jail Administrator, did not receive a mug shot because of supposed "medical issues." This segment is specifically designed to improve non-white people's problem-solving tactics and revamp how black people think, speak, act and control emotions while on the job. Any listeners who've configured a code to reduce conflicts with White and/or non-white co-workers, bypass demotions, write-ups, terminations or other forms of violence we experience under Racist work conditions should be first to call in with particulars. We are always excited and grateful to hear the experiences of "black entrepreneurs." Please, let us know how "working for yourself" improves your employment experience. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our seventh study session on Gavin de Becker's 1997 bestseller, The Gift of Fear: Survival Signals That Protect Us from Violence. de Becker is a White man, Racist Suspect. A number of C.O.W.S. listeners suggested that we study this book to help non-white people better perceive when they may be in danger. The System of White Supremacy is designed to encourage White and non-white people to harm black people. The hope is that by reading this book, listeners will be more alert and responsive to signals that inform of us of possible danger. Interestingly, in some circles, this text is regarded as "feminist" literature. de Becker presents (White) Women as the prototypical victims of violence - while completely ignoring the omnipresent brutality against black people. Last week's segment examined the importance of giving a firm "no" when dealing with people who are "persistent." He again advocates planned ignoring as continued talking requires more contact, opportunities for negotiation and the possibility of an escalation beyond annoyance to abuse. The text also discussed children who turn violent, and included commentary on the 1978 case involving Willie Bosket. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS The week has been consumed White Supremacist violence. Two separate attacks in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio produced over two dozen casualties and more wounded. Both shootings are reportedly motivated by White Supremacy/Racism in some manner. The Texas killer, a White 21-year-old taken into custody, allegedly published a manifesto describing a "Hispanic invasion," which demanded his violent defense of White land. The carnage forced President Donald J. Trump to utter the words "White Supremacy." However, most of the dialog reverted to the stale exchange about gun control. Also in Ohio, a residential fire is being investigated as an arson hate crime. The home owners are a so called interracial couple and racist graffiti was plastered on the property. In week of grief, we also mourned the passing of literary titan Toni Morrison, who died at the age of 88. Morrison, who happened to be an Ohio native, used her astronomical skill as a writer to reveal truth about the System of White Supremacy. Any listeners who've assembled a code to minimize conflicts with White and/or non-white co-workers, bypass demotions, write-ups, terminations or other forms of violence we experience under Racist work conditions should be first to call in with specifics. Gus hasn't received much feedback on adjusting one's counter-racist code to accommodate pregnancy. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our sixth study session on Gavin de Becker's 1997 bestseller, The Gift of Fear: Survival Signals That Protect Us from Violence. de Becker is a White man, Racist Suspect. A number of C.O.W.S. listeners suggested that we study this book to help non-white people better grasp when they might be violated. The System of White Supremacy is designed to encourage White and non-white people to harm black people. The hope is that by reading this book, listeners will be more alert and responsive to signals that inform of us of possible danger. Interestingly, in some circles this text is regarded as "feminist" literature. de Becker does position (White) Women as the prototypical victims of violence - while completely ignoring the omnipresent brutality against black people. Last week's segment brought the full spotlight on OJ Simpson. de Becker again acknowledged that he worked for the prosecution in the Simpson trial, and he devoted a healthy chunk of the reading to discussing the obviousness of Simpson's guilt. He also presented valuable information on the importance of accepting evidence - previous violent behavior, confrontations with police - that may point to future violence. He also suggested thinking carefully before filing a restraining order.
