The Context of White Supremacy hosts our debut study session on Gavin de Becker's international bestseller, The Gift of Fear: And Other Survival Signals That Protect Us from Violence. The 1997 publication was praised by Oprah Winfrey and a litany of other book critics - including a number of C.O.W.S. listeners. de Becker's self-help book encourages readers to listen to their instincts about potentially harmful individuals. One of the main points of the text is that acts of violence are often preceded by cues that can alert one to violent perpetrators. The author believes we often ignore these cues. Although this book does not directly address White Supremacy/Racism, de Becker makes a point of voice his opposition to so-called "political correctness." We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS The 2020 Presidential election has a gaggle of democratic candidate slugging out to oppose President Trump next autumn. During this week's debate, Sen. Kamala Harris admonished former Vice President Joe Biden for his opposition to school busing and his work with White Supremacist senators. Fellow candidate and South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg was forced to respond the police killing of a black male, Eric Logan, in his jurisdiction. Speaking of civil rights, the celebration of pride month concludes this weekend with World Pride Day in NY and various LGBT celebrations in major cities throughout the U.S. Gus sidestepped the Seattle festivities. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our 17th and final study session on James Loewen's 2005 publication, Sundown Towns: A Hidden Dimension of American Racism. Loewen, a Suspected Race Soldier, has written a number of bestsellers and critically acclaimed texts that use the word "Racism." In addition to Sundown Towns, Loewen's Lies My Teachers Told Me, also explores how Whites intentionally conceal their history of terrorizing black people. Mr. Loewen might be aware that we're reading his book with suspicion. Last week's installment provided nearly a dozen more incidents of White children terrorizing black people. Loewen made a point of saying that individual White families have the power to end sundown towns. They have the ability to solve the problem, but lack the will. Golden State Warrior's Kevin Durant ruptured his achilles during this week after White doctors and owners provided medical information that is being widely questioned. Speaking of second-guessing, filmmaker Ava DuVernay's "When They See Us" continues to generate consequences as Elizabeth Lederer, the former White prosecutor of the Central Park 5 rape case, resigned her position from Columbia Law School. This broadcast is specially engineered to improve non-white people's problem-solving techniques and improve how black people think, speak, act and manage emotions while on the job. Any listeners who've pieced together a code to minimize conflicts with White and/or non-white co-workers, bypass demotions, write-ups, terminations or other forms of violence we experience under Racist work conditions should be first to call in with particulars. We always appreciate the chance to learn about the experiences of "black entrepreneurs." Please, share with us how "working for yourself" improves your employment experience. A black Boeing employee in Charleston, South Carolina filed a lawsuit alleging racial terrorism. Loewen, a Suspected Race Soldier, has penned many bestsellers and critically acclaimed texts that use the word "Racism." In addition to Sundown Towns, Loewen's Lies My Teachers Told Me, also explores how Whites intentionally conceal their history of terrorizing black people. Mr. Loewen might be aware that we're reading his book with suspicion. Last week's installment described how non-white, non-black people are not subjected to the same types of terrorism inflicted on black people. "Asian Americans and Latinos have been treated as ‘non-black’ in contradistinction to being treated as ‘non-white,'" writes Loewen. Close to Gus's current Seattle, Washington, Loewen describes how the town of Tillamook, Oregon also excludes black people.
