The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 4th study session on Romain Gary's White Dog. A White man born in eastern Europe, Gary piloted jets in World War II and authored a number of top selling french novels before committing suicide in 1980. We'll discuss his 1970 global top-seller, White Dog - which is allegedly based on actual events. The book centers on a white German shepherd Gary finds while visiting the United States. The vagrant canine is beloved by Gary's entire family and treated as part of the clan. But Gary quickly notices the hound becomes hostile and immediately attacks when black people appear. During last week's session, Gary describes the horror of April 4th, 1968. The assassination of Dr. King does not warrant reflection on the obliteration of a life, or even a pause for Gary's thoughts on the drum major for justice. Instead, we hear about what a no-count charlatan Stokely Carmichael is - which is the same thing former president Bill Clinton chose to do at Congressman John Lewis's funeral earlier this month. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS The U.S. continues to reign supreme with the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the world. Numerous reports tout that younger people flouting social distancing rules to party with large groups of people is driving the spread of the virus. In California, there's been so much snitching about large gatherings Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti threatened shutting off power and water to residents hosting soirees. Speaking of shindig, Gus and a small cadre of C.O.W.S. listeners survived the rona and Hurricane Isaias to convene in Washington D.C. for The C.O.W.S. Counter-Racist Yoga Retreat. From an appropriate distance, we ate plant-based meals, discussed health and White Supremacy, did yoga and strolled the waterfront. Weeks earlier, numerous members of congress donned kente cloth to show support for black people. This week former leader of SNCC and U.S. Representative John Lewis was laid to rest after a well-earned memorial service featuring former presidents Barack Obama and William H. Clinton. The latter is seemingly obligated to speak at the passing of any "prominent' black person. It's doubtful he'll be invited to former presidential candidate Herman Cain's homegoing service. The GOP stalwart died this at the age of 74. He reportedly had complications related to the coronavirus. As protests against White Supremacy and police terrorism continue across the country, NPR reported that "street wars" are possible between armed demonstrators and enforcement officials. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. We'll continue to improve our techniques for countering Racist attacks and accusations while solving problems without creating new problems. The chaotic and dangerous summer of 2020 continues. Last week we discussed how the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting school closures have threatened the employment of many parents. C.O.W.S. listeners wrote in to share how having offspring can make managing this health crisis all the more daunting. Co-workers simply don't seem as sympathetic to the plights of attempted black mothers or fathers. In California, black employees accused the Central Valley Meat Company of disregarding worker safety and manipulating employees to remaining on the job. We'll discuss his 1970 global top-seller, White Dog - which is allegedly an autobiography. The book centers on a white German shepherd Gary finds while visiting the United States. The vagrant canine is beloved by the entire family and is treated as part of the clan. But Gary quickly notices the hound becomes hostile and immediately attacks when black people appear. During last week's session, met the White owners of the racist hound. It's an older White man Gary thinks is a swell fella, awesome grandfather, and the type of guy who makes the world go around. This grandpa shares that he and his son trained generations of police dogs. His White son is moving to California to open a dog kennel because of the alleged booming crime. Gary and his wife, Jean Seberg, quarrel about her so called anti-racist efforts. Seberg's brother dies in automobile accident when he's only 18. They visit the Iowa town to support her grieving family, but the whole sundown town full of Whites are delirious about a White Woman who's married a black male. From here... The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Tyler D. Parry. A historian at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Dr. Parry is an expert on colonization of the Americas, the African diaspora, and the historical memory of slavery in the United States. Even though his phenotypical features confused Gus and several listeners, Dr. Parry is classified as White - and married to a black female. We'll discuss his fascinating research on White Supremacists use of dogs to terrorize and control black bodies. He co-authored the report, Slave Hounds and Abolition in the Americas. The project explores how breeding dogs to track and maul black people became booming businesses throughout the world during slavery. He contextualizes the historical use of dogs to patrol slave plantations with the current use of canine police units, which often serves the same purpose - control of black bodies. A week after the death of Civil Rights titans Congressman John Lewis and Rev. C.T. Vivian, the year of confusion and death got no better. Last week, President Donald J. Trump ordered federal troops into Oregon to coral unlawful Whites roiling the streets in the name of George Floyd and "systemic racism." Troops are descending on Chicago, Illinois next where they always have reports of ceaseless gun violence. Speaking of gun violence, a White St. Louis Missouri couple has been charged for brandishing firearms at protesters earlier this summer. Thousands of U.S. workers abstained from work for a coordinated "Strike for Black Lives." The work stoppage was designed to point out income disparities and various issues of White Supremacy in the area of labor. In Winston-Salem, North Carolina, black firefighters held a press conference to report Racist work conditions including racist jokes and gorilla masks. A White man born in eastern Europe, Gary piloted jets in World War II and authored a number of top selling french novels before committing suicide in 1980. We'll discuss his 1970 international bestseller White Dog - which is allegedly an autobiography. The book centers on a white German shepherd Gary finds while visiting the United States. The vagrant canine is beloved by the entire family and is treated as part of the klan. But Gary quickly notices the hound becomes hostile and immediately attacks when black people appear. During last week's session, Gary explained his realization that the dog hates niggras and looks to rehabilitate the dog. He's told repeatedly that the dog is too old to be re-educated, his hatred of niggras has become an ingrained part of his being. While making a pitiful attempt to reform the hound, Gary comments on the turmoil of the 1960's and the phenomenon of black Americans "gaming Whitey." He laments that his White Wife, Jean Seberg, is being duped by a number of slick talking black people activists. Gary also pouts about his Racist canine being labeled a White Dog. This program is specifically engineered to encourage participation from non-white people outside the United States and Victims of White Supremacy who may not be able to tune in our typical broadcast time. Like the Covid-19 health crisis, the System of White Supremacy is a global enterprise, so Victims of Racism should keep a planetary - if not universal - perspective when contemplating solving The Problem. The world continues to be strangled by Covid-19. Although the U.S. continues to showcase the most dangerous and incompetent virus response on the planet, no one has solved the rona. We'll see how restrictions, social distancing and quarrels over masks our evolving around the world.
