The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 2nd study session on Isabel Wilkerson's 2020 offering, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Wilkerson received a 2015 National Humanities Award from former President Barack Obama and garnered widespread acclaim for her 2010 publication, The Warmth of Other Suns. Caste examines different regions of the world where groups of individuals are mistreated because they are not White. Wilkerson explores Nazi Germany, India and the United States. Even though Gus lodged her first book in his top 10, he is not excited about this book. The title is vague enough to leave room for doubt. During the opening sessions, Wilkerson smothers readers with metaphors that do not reveal truth about caste/White Supremacy mistreatment. She defines the term "caste," and explains the goal of her book, but retreats to more metaphors. The director of Graduate Programs of the department of African American Studies and Associate Professor at Temple University, Dr. Mazama is also the managing editor of the Journal of Black Studies. She is internationally recognized as an educational consultant with a distinguished reputation for implementing African content within education curriculum. We spoke with Dr. Mazama years before the rona upended education for children around the world. With universities and kindergartens disrupted for the foreseeable future, a number of parents are reconsidering homeschooling. We'll ask Dr. Mazama for tips for parents looking to maximize their child's academic development while staying safe during the pandemic. Historic wildfires are ravaging the western United States with tens of thousands of acres being destroyed in California, Oregon and Washington state. High temperatures, robust winds, and dry weather are reportedly to blame for the unusual potent fires. Gus T. has suffered through lost power and smoke debris from the Washington fires. Across the globe, India surpassed Brazil for the most Covid-19 deaths in the world. Even while acknowledging the immense suffering of the non-white country, White reporters commented on the immense - and growing - non-white population of India. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. The ravages of 2020 have been unrelenting. Gus T. and many others are hoping to just survive the year and the rona. A number of listeners have written and called in over the past couple weeks voicing concerns about returning to the workplace. We'll ask folks for advice on staying safe and strategies to help encourage co-workers and staff to practice all necessary safety precautions. President Donald J. Trump announced plans to terminate federal funding for organizations that conduct "sensitivity training." The president suggests these trainings cause divisiveness and are not effective. The championship coach was noted for recruiting black males and investing him self in their lives in a highly constructive manner. Basketball Hall of Famer Allen Iverson credited Thompson with saving his career - perhaps life. There's been little time to grieve in 2020, with protests against police violence and White Supremacy continuing across the country. 7 Rochester, New York officers were suspended after a black male, Daniel Prude, died under suspicious circumstances. Across the country in California, the Los Angeles county Sheriffs's killing of Dijon Kizzee rekindled protests. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. We'll continue to bolster our techniques for countering Racist attacks and accusations while solving problems without creating new problems on the job. In the olden days before the rona, Gus T. welcomes Marcia Chatelain to discuss her book Franchise: The Golden Arches in Black America. The book examines how the burger conglomerate became entrenched in black residential areas and the struggles black franchise owners encountered - being restricted to poor locations for stores, getting restaurants with higher overhead, and being left out of national advertising campaigns. Fast forward, and McDonald's is facing a billion dollar lawsuit from 52 ex-franchise owners. The Victims allege they experienced White Supremacy/Racism for decades that was so crippling, one litigant said, "That acquiring a location from McDonald's was a 'financial suicide mission.'" This would be another illustration of non-white people not being able to escape White Supremacy by owning a business. We'll also discuss how the election and health pandemic continue to reshape the work environment. Listeners continue to report "sensitivity trainings" and other tacky gathers where Racism is discussed in a insincere, deceptive manner. The C.O.W.S. Romain Gary's White Dog Part 6 (Conclusion) Sep 03, 2020

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 6th study session on Romain Gary's White Dog. A White man born in eastern Europe, Gary piloted jets in World War II and wrote a number of top selling french novels before committing suicide in 1980. We'll continue to inspect his 1970 global top-seller, White Dog - which is allegedly based on actual events. The book centers on a white German shepherd Gary finds while visiting the United States. The vagrant canine is beloved by Gary's entire family and treated as part of the clan. But Gary quickly notices the hound becomes hostile and immediately attacks when black people appear. During last week's session, Gary laments that he's walking out on "20 million negroes." He says this throughout the book when he feels particularly annoyed with blacks "gaming whitey." Apparently, Gary feels a bit like a sexual deviant old man, he remarks about being some 25 years older than his White wife, and later on admits to lusting after a black male's very pregnant spouse. Gary's sexual escapades are unbounded as he pauses the narrative to explain the popularity of "cuckold" sessions where White men and invite black males to have sex with their White wives. Many components of the book suggest that Gary may have engaged in this "wife-swapping" fad too. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS August 2020 didn't conclude with a bang. We had a hurricane, the Republican National Convention, a police shooting and subsequent rioting in Wisconsin, and the possibility of an NBA strike over Racism. Along the gulf of Mexico, Hurricane Laura pummeled Louisiana and Texas, killing at least six. Wisconsin police didn't kill Jacob Blake when a White officer shot him in the back on Monday. However, Blake is paralyzed, and according to his mother, handcuffed to a hospital bed. The shooting lead to more protests against police terrorism, where Kyle Rittenhouse, "a white, 17-year-old police admirer," allegedly shot and killed two protesters. He has been arrested and charged. The latest police killing of an unarmed black male prompted a number of professional sports events to be canceled. Several players amplified calls to boycott the remainder of the season. With all this as a backdrop, Vice president Mike Pence and President Donald J.
