The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 4th study session on Isabel Wilkerson's 2020 offering, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Wilkerson received a 2015 National Humanities Award from former President Barack Obama and garnered widespread acclaim for her 2010 publication, The Warmth of Other Suns. Caste examines different regions of the world where groups of individuals are mistreated because they are not White. Wilkerson explores Nazi Germany, India and the United States. Gus and many C.O.W.S.'s listeners raved about Wilkerson's debut publication, but her sophomore effort is substandard. And a listener alerted Gus that Ms. Wilkerson was married to a White Man, Brett Hamilton. In fact, her #TragicArragment apparently becomes a part of the text we're reading. During last week's session, Wilkerson details similarities between Nazi Germany and the U.S. She noted that the Nazi's believed some aspects of the U.S. segregation laws were too stringent for Germany. Wilkerson's emphasizes the "separation" between Whites and black people. However, this is a common error. According to Wilkerson's own work, Whites are not "separate" from non-white people. While detailing the pillars of caste, Wilkerson describes how White enslavers were invited to "impregnate the women" they owned. An assistant professor of applied linguistics in the Department of English and Technical Communication at Missouri University of Science and Techno‌logy, Dr. Hercula’s primary research focus is on language variation and linguistic (in)equality. She recently visited St. Louis Public Radio to detail how non-white people are often mistreated because their way of speaking differs from White people. Gus and many C.O.W.S. listeners invest a great deal of time interrogating how White Supremacists use words to maintain their System of terrorism and keep non-white people confused. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Jeremy S. Hoffman. A professor at L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Hoffman is the Chief Scientist at the Science Museum of Virginia. He holds a PhD in geology from Oregon State University. Dr. Hoffman conducts lectures for all audiences where he explains how climate shifts over decades and centuries. Earlier this year, he shared data documenting the correlation between redlining and extreme heat. Meaning restricted and dilapidated residential areas where black people forced to live for decades, are now five to twenty degrees warmer in comparison to wealthier White areas. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Nearly a month from the U.S. presidential election, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, leaving an allegedly contentious battle over confirming her replacement. In 2016, Whites resolutely denied president Obama the chance to pick a replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia. When Whites like Senator Mitchell McConnell explain their support for picking a new justice before the election this time around, they insist that this is way different from when the niggra was in the White House. In Kentucky, Whites announced that only one White officer would be charged in the killing of Breonna Taylor. One White officer was charged with "wanton endangerment." Massive protests followed this announcement, as many concluded that substantially more severe charges were warranted and that other officers should be arrested. 2 officers were subsequently shot during protests on Wednesday evening. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. So far, some of us made it through the rona, wildfires, protests, hurricanes/tropical storms and a hosts of other catastrophes to get to autumn apology from Ellen DeGeneres. The Suspected white supremacist and longtime daytime talk show host was accused of operating a "toxic" and "racist" work environment. She returned to the camera for her latest season, and offered another round of lame White apologies. Coincidentally, DeGeneres is openly "gay" and promotes anti-sexual conduct, and this very week, the Harvard Business Review devoted an entire segment to promoting a "trans-inclusive" work environment. I'm not sure White people have ever devoted serious time and energy to creating a "black-inclusive" work environment. We'll continue to address how to make your work environment as safe as possible during the coronavirus pandemic. Even though Gus lodged her first book in his top 10, he is not excited about this book. Unfortunately, a listener alerted Gus that Ms. Wilkerson was married to a White Man, Brett Hamilton. Wilkerson insists that mistreatment based on skin color is "arbitrary." Wilkerson spends a a sizable amount of time describing how Whites detest the use of term "Racism" and how this concept is not the same as "caste." Smoldering wildfires throughout the west coast have claimed lives, destroyed tens of thousands of acres, and spewed toxic air throughout the region that has wafted to the east coast. Attorney General Bill Barr ignored Gus's recommendation and compared U.S. slavery to the restrictions implemented in response to the rona. over the past couple weeks, lots of attention has been focused on on the Los Angeles County sheriff after allegations of criminal gang within the department and the shooting of Dijon Kizzee. Days ago 2 LA sheriffs were shot in Compton. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. Autumn 2020 is almost here, although there aren't many reasons to think foliage and cooler temps will make 2020 any better. We're in the middle of a U.S. presidential election, and this topic is bound to disrupt a calm work environment. We'll make sure our code is polished for avoiding/managing political conversations in the workplace. We'll continue to solicit advice for keeping safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. A recent report suggested that White employers have a tremendous amount of discretion with regards to informing workers about positive Covid-19 tests and compensation for employees who've been exposed to the virus. It seems that a number of companies are being deliberately vague about these policies. It may be logical to ask as many questions as possible - via email.
