White violence against black people continues undaunted. Black Lives Matter protesters continue to be threatened by gun-toting Whites. In fact, black people who are not protesting continue to be threatened by Whites. Pundits and scholars continue to lob theories to explain the rise in gun and firearm and ammunition sales and the accompanying spike in gun crimes. Things have deteriorated to the point that in the midst of an unprecedented global health pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control is not able to focus on vaccines and life-saving information. They're responding to allegations that they also have a toxic and Racist work environment for non-white workers. Meanwhile, the rona continues to strangle the world. We'll continue to hone our strategies for countering Racist attacks and accusations while solving problems without creating new problems. The chaotic and dangerous summer of 2020 continues. California and another other locations have seen extraordinary leaps in coronavirus cases - causing a number of businesses to be shutdown again. Numerous entrepreneurs report that they will not survive the starts and stops of operations. Many businesses are also struggling with enforcement of mask wearing policies. We'll see how non-white people are managing the strange new world, and remind folks to avoid discussing politics in the workplace. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the debut study session on Romain Gary's White Dog. A White man born in eastern Europe, Gary piloted jets in World War II and authored a number of top selling french novels before committing suicide in 1980. We'll discuss his 1970 international bestseller White Dog - which is allegedly an autobiography. The book centers on a white German shepherd Gary finds while visiting the United States. The vagrant canine is beloved by the entire family and is treated as part of the klan. But Gary quickly notices the hound becomes hostile and immediately attacks when black people appear. White Dog was converted to a movie in 1982, but the NAACP and others boycotted the project. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Last week, Gus T. told 4th of July listeners that there seems to be an unprecedented level of violent attacks against black people. Following the so called holiday weekend, the violence escalated. In fact, a black male, Vauhxx Booker, in Indiana visited a park to enjoy nature. He encountered a mob of White Men and Women who assaulted Booker, pinned him to a tree and beckoned for a noose. Days later, protesters gathers in disgust over the attempted lynching, and a car plowed into the crowd. At least one pedestrian was injured. In North Carolina, a black mother reported a pair of armed White men in 'Make America Great Again' hats threatened she and her children. We'll continue to hone our strategies for countering Racist attacks and accusations while solving problems without creating new problems. One good thing about the rona is that is disrupted a lot of July 4th festivities, so many of us could avoid the office bbq or workplace picnic. Besides that, Covid-19 continues to disrupt and close businesses around the world. One key area of labor, is education. If schools are unable to open in the fall, a huge number of educators and academic staff could be in economic free fall. Additionally, if schools are closed to children, parents who are employed will have hefty concerns about the indefinite supervision of their offspring. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the fourth study session on Fred Jerome and Rodger Taylor's Einstein on Race and Racism. Jerome may be classified as White, while Taylor is a black male. Dr. Frances Cress Welsing recommended a number of books over the years #ReadingIsMoreImportantThanWatchingTelevision She placed special emphasis on this text. Dr. Welsing frequently mentioned Einstein's failure to focus his all of his mental faculties on the primary problem on the planet, White Supremacy. This text, published in 2005 collects an array of Einstein's writings on the Racism he observed here in the U.S. Having migrated to North America from Hitler's Nazi Germany, Einstein contrasted the System of Racial Terror here to what was happening across the pond in Europe. Last week's segment explored Einstein's response to the lynchings of black people throughout the U.S. as well as the failure of White lawmakers to pass and enforce anti-lynching legislation. They specifically mentioned the 1946 Moore's Ford Bridge Lynching, where a White Georgia mob killed 4 black people - including a WWII veteran. The book also examined how a number of black journalists and Einstein contemporaries began to view the World War 2 as a campaign of White Supremacy. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Christopher Everett. We previously discussed his fantastic documentary film, Wilmington On Fire, which examines the 1898 White Supremacist coup in Wilmington, North Carolina. Whites plotted to disrupt a peaceful "fusion" government, where black people owned property had attorneys and doctors and enjoyed a relatively harmonious life. Using the threat of black rapists, White militias killed an untold number of black people, looted their property, and banished them from the area without compensation. We revisit this topic after three Wilmington enforcement officers, Kevin Piner, James "Brian" Gilmore, and Corporal Jessie Moore, were terminated after video surfaced of them making racist comments. To be blunt, Piner described plans to acquire an assault rifle "to go out and start slaughtering them f------ n------." The White officer didn't talk about killing one or 5 black people. "Wipe 'em off the f------ map," said Piner, adding: "That’ll put 'em back about four or five generations." These Whites also held grievances against newly hired police chief, who happens to be black. The rona and protests over Racism have effectively neutralized the annual summer madness. Fireworks celebrations have been canceled or greatly scaled back. However, the absence of fire in the sky doesn't mean a lack of smoke in the streets. It's challenging to count the number of incidents of armed Whites in public over the past 7 days. Whites in Texas protested Covid-19 restrictions with banners proclaiming: "Bar Lives Matter." In Michigan, an armed White Woman held a black mother and child at gun point after a dispute in a public parking area. In Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas was threatened with a lynching after order citizens to wear face masks in public. In fact, gun rights advocate Lauren Boebert defeated five-term incumbent Rep. Scott Tipton.
