    Toby Hadoke's Who's Round: 223: Joseph Long Sep 04, 2017
    Show notes

Not one, but two Whos, and both in this century. He's lived in the worst possible conditions and been a man of great stature, and his latest role was in the most recent series so we're bang up to date. He also takes part in one of your interviewer's favourite scenes in the show's history and takes us on a journey to the West End, via Ashes to Ashes and Vanessa Redgrave. Oh, and as he puts it "I've played a lot of Luigis". The whole chat takes place in the corner of a Green Room so there's a bit of ambient chat - but it's all about Doctor Who (and actually, by people who have been in it!).

    Toby Hadoke's Who's Round: 222: Brian Miller Part 2 Sep 03, 2017
    Show notes

This is the second podcast from last week's first part

By some strange, aberrant miracle, this actor, with many credits on - and ties to - the show, isn't interviewed in any of the DVDs of his appearances, which cover both classic and new Doctor Who. He's given voice to evil, he's witnessed the aftermath of a regeneration, and he's appeared in a spin-off too. Oh, and then there's the not insignificant matter of his wife. So it's about time someone interviewed him, even if it is in one of the noisiest restaurants in the world. Sorry about that.

An interviewee who warms to his theme - which we don't need to because we already have. Yes, it's a musical number this week as Toby chats to a prolific composer whose worked bookended many 1980s episodes and augmented several too. The chat goes from instrumentation to radiophonics via sound effects and synths. Sit back, relax and you'll be wired for sound.

This gentleman has a raft of credits to his name, including appearances with most of the great TV comics of the 60s. He could also populate and entire police station all on his own, and he discusses this, smoking in Doctor Who, dying in too frightening a manner, and the lure of Plymouth. It's an added joy to interview someone who didn't feature on the DVD release of their story, especially when they turn out to be such good company.

    Toby Hadoke's Who's Round: 217: Sam Cox Aug 02, 2017
    Show notes

Toby turns the tables on someone who spent much of his screen time on Doctor Who being the one who asks the hard questions. It wasn't his first time facing off against this particular incarnation of the Doctor because he'd spent some time on stage with him. In fact, a lot of his career has been spent on most of our most hallowed theatrical turfs in the company of numerous very fine actors. Subjects under discussion include the WRP, Crime Traveller and making tea in a very characterful instalment of this never-ending series....

(This is the second part from last week's first)

(Apologies for the quality of this recording in places, which apparently took place near a sound effects convention)

He's played opposite four Doctors, and as important characters too, yet we've never seen his face in the show. Sometimes we didn't hear his voice either, which, considering he's a fine radio actor, might be something of a surprise. But he's done some classic stories as well as much work outside of the Whoniverse, and gives us a fascinating insight into the world of Music Hall.
