Ep. 284: Making Hard Decisions May 21, 2022
    Show notes

Life is… hard. There’s no way around it. Every now and again we come to a moment where we have to make a decision for the future, and we get caught up in trying to make the “right” choice. But what even makes a choice right? And if making decisions is just say easy as “listening to our intuition” how do we do that? The idea of making a mistake is terrifying for sure, but what if we said that there are no true mistakes? If you’re out there, struggling to know what to do, we’re right there with you.

    Make the hard decision [1:39]

Our relationships bring the most growth opportunities [3:09]

Ep. 283: Bad Things Happen All the Time May 18, 2022
    Show notes

We all know someone who seems to always be going through a crisis. Do bad things happen to some people more than others? And if that’s true, are they manifesting the bad stuff, or is it all perspective? In any case, people rarely do something unless they’re getting something out of it. Sometimes, the victim role is comfortable and familiar. Sometimes, it’s easier to just push through the hard shit and ignore the bad feelings. We think it’s all about perspective, and only you can decide that for yourself.

Do some people manifest bad things? [5:05]

You can choose to laugh about it or cry about it [7:43]

    Victim mentality and identity [10:35]

What are you getting out of being a victim? [13:50]

The way our childhood affects us in adulthood [15:40]

Look around at your environment [18:07]

Are you looking for excuses to give up? [20:00]

We could all use a little awareness and perspective [21:56]

Ep. 282: Should You Be Posting About Social Issues? May 13, 2022
    Show notes

In the wake of the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade, you may be wondering if it’s okay to use your business accounts to talk about it. Do social issues need to be kept separate from business? Well, that’s really up to you. The way we see it is this: it’s your personal brand, and if it really matters to you, you should be able to talk about it. People may love it or hate it, but it’s not your job to cater to everyone’s feelings. Post the shit you WANT to post.

Is it okay to talk about social issues on your business account? [4:57]

If it REALLY matters to you, you should talk about it [7:05]

You don’t have to speak up about everything [9:57]

People can unfollow as they see fit in response [12:00]

When you draw a line in the sand, you find your people [13:50]

Stay away from Performative Posting [16:49]

You don’t have to be stuck as one thing for the rest of your life [17:34]

Your vibe attracts your tribe (before you even share your opinions) [21:35]

Ep. 281: 75 Hard (And Why We Hate It) May 11, 2022
    Show notes

Danny lost a bet, and as a result it meant she had to start 75 Hard. But upon further consideration, it has been decided that 75 Hard is a “hell no.” Look, we love a challenge as much as the next person, but this shit just ain’t healthy. In almost any scenario, extreme measures cause extreme rebounds, and if you’re really looking to build mental-fortitude or change your body, baby steps are the way to make that change last. Long term goals require long term solutions, not just an arbitrary list of tasks that ends as quickly as it begins.

    A 75 Hard bet [1:09]

The downside of extreme challenges [4:14]

Extreme measures leads to extreme rebounds [7:14]

Preying on people who want hardcore solutions [9:40]

Could the challenge be hurting more than helping? [12:43]

    Small changes, over time [14:53]

    Critical and long-term thinking [17:32]

We have to be careful when it comes to the body [19:44]

The mental barriers are tough enough, already [25:18]

Your body is not a math equation [27:55]

Ep. 280: The Evolution of Our Religious and Spiritual Beliefs May 06, 2022
    Show notes

Easter Sunday just passed and it got us thinking about religion. We have our own experiences with religion, but things look a little different for us now. And while we recognize that our experiences are solely our own, we wanted to discuss with you how that has impacted our lives, and our journeys through spirituality and beyond. Religion is nuanced and deeply personal, this is just how WE feel about it all. (Slight content warning for mentions of sexual assault and suicide)

Religion has shaped how we see the world [3:19]

Hypocrisy and polarity within the church [7:26]

A lack of independent thinking or questioning [9:16]

Sexual shame within the church [11:24]

The prison of strict beliefs [17:15]

Nobody knows the absolute truth [19:11]

Why is religion about after-life, not current life? [21:40]

“I’m not religious, but I am spiritual” [24:06]

    Manifestation isn’t everything [26:16]

Finding out what is important to you [31:48]

    Doing mental gymnastics [36:20]

    Getting through loss [40:47]

    Show notes

For a lot of us, being our own bosses and working from home is part of our dream life… but damn, is it hard to stay productive! Being an adult is like having a never-ending to do list, so how do we stay so productive? Well, it looks a lot like doing it, deleting it, or delegating it. It also looks like a lot of things getting left undone. If it doesn’t move the dial forward, then doing it doesn’t mean real productivity. And the only thing we really wanna be doing is moving that dial forward.

How to stay productive and disciplined [1:19]

The challenges of working from home [3:32]

    Declare your priorities publicly [6:49]

    Conserving your mental energy [9:11]

    Having 3 big priorities [11:47]

What really moves the dial forward? [14:13]

Do it, delete it, or delegate it [17:02]

You’re not failing for not doing something [20:08]

    Productivity ebbs and flows [22:27]

    Ep. 277: Fighting Against Self-Imposed Timelines Apr 27, 2022
    Show notes

Have you ever felt the pressure to be at a certain place in your career, have a certain amount of money, be married, have kids, or any number of life accomplishments by a certain time? We certainly have. Somehow, we get caught up in these self-and-societally imposed timelines of what life “should” look like by a certain age. Frankly, fuck that noise. Life looks so different than it did 50+ years ago, why should we expect the same things from ourselves? And do we even want those things in the first place? Life doesn’t have to be defined by a specific timeline for it to be well worth living. We can have the Best Life, just by deciding it is.

The self-imposed timelines we put upon ourselves [1:27]

Getting caught up in borrowed goals [2:20]

    Marketers ruin everything [5:14]

The world has changed, so why do we have this old idea of what should be? [7:23]

Own the fact that you chose something different [9:34]

Appreciate where you are while you’re there [13:14]

You can be anything you want to be [15:23]

Grieve what you’ve lost, but understand there’s more out there [17:41]

Ep. 276: Can You Be Fit If You Like to Drink? Apr 23, 2022
    Show notes

It’s no secret that we like to drink a glass of wine from time to time (or two, or three, or…). Maybe we shouldn’t say it, but drinking is fun! But it’s also really important to us to stay fit. So how do we have fun and relax with an alcoholic beverage, and still stay fit? Well, maybe we have different definitions of what fit even means in the first place… but hey, it’s totally possible to have your fun and stay healthy! Just maybe not all at the same time.

Staying fit while having “fun” [5:03]

Understanding the cultural aspect of drinking [7:43]

The environment of drinking (with or without the alcohol) [9:12]

    Having muscle helps [11:49]

Examine how drinking affects other areas of your fitness [13:22]

Stop the all-or-nothing way of doing things [15:26]

    Drinking affects your motivation [19:52]
