Ep. 375: Haters, Trolls, and Angry Mobs... Oh My! Apr 12, 2023
    Show notes

We all know the internet is full of angry people who are ready to join the closest mob, but knowing it is a different thing than experiencing it. Jill recently had a post on Instagram take off and it brought a lot of angry—and let’s face it, insecure—people into her comments. Not to mention, there was some recent Insta-beef between Jill’s ex, Jade, and another influencer. For whatever reason, some people tend to thrive on internet-takedowns and passive aggressive comments, and unfortunately this causes a lot of people to give up, sometimes before they can even begin. It may feel like angry mobs are everywhere, but kindness and respect will always win out.

Ep. 374: Difficult Conversations with Friends Apr 08, 2023
    Show notes

You might feel like holding back on tough conversations is the best way to salvage friendships but we disagree. Bringing up disagreements or having a difficult discussion might cause some friction, and in worst case scenarios you may lose friendships, but it’s also an opportunity to create even deeper connections. If we don’t allow ourselves to be fully authentic, we can’t expect to be loved exactly for who we are. That means having the tough conversation—not to point fingers or blame or argue, but to come to an understanding and move forward with deeper respect and affection.

Ep. 373: Tips for Giving Up Drinking Apr 05, 2023
    Show notes

Whether it’s by choice or it’s “forced” upon you, cutting back on or giving up drinking entirely is easier said than done. Having a cocktail is so much more than just getting drunk—it’s social connection, it’s relaxation, and it’s cultural. A life change like pregnancy or health issues that necessitate sobriety can you leave you feeling isolated and resentful for all the fun you “can’t” have, but maybe there’s another way. Drinking is becoming less and less popular, and it’s probably a good choice for most of us to analyze our drinking habits anyways. Alcohol is fun, don’t get us wrong, but it’s not the only way to unwind and connect.

Having the audacity to suck at something new [2:29]

Doing new things as we age [8:18]

Feeling left out when you’re not drinking [11:19]

    Agency in quitting drinking [13:11]

Analyzing your relationship with drinking [19:08]

    Social alternatives [22:19]

    Remember what’s really important [24:44]

A generational and cultural shift [30:34]

    Support from your partner [34:12]

Ep. 372: The Sex Talk You Never Had with Your Parents with Vanessa and Xander Marin Mar 31, 2023
    Show notes

Talking about sex is a tricky situation. Most of us had a brief and most likely awkward sex-talk with our parents at some point, and were then left to figure out the rest by ourselves. Movies, books, and porn make up some of our first experiences with sex—how we should feel about it and what it should look like—which has left us all with a lot of baggage and confusion. Sex shouldn’t feel like pressure or performance, it should be fun! We were lucky enough to talk to sex therapist Vanessa Marin, and her business partner and husband, Xander Marin, about their work to destigmatize sex talk and keep the spark alive in sex lives everywhere!

A non-awkward way to ask questions about sex [2:18]

    Becoming a dynamic duo [4:28]

Ep. 371: Do Couple Need to Go to Bed Together? Mar 29, 2023
    Show notes

Maybe you feel the same way or maybe you don’t, but we love to go to bed at the same time as our partners. People have different sleep schedules, sure, but isn’t it nice to have a dedicated moment of connection at the end of every day? And is it possible that incompatible sleep times means incompatibility in general? Let’s chat about it. (And if you’re curious How Danny snagged last-minute floor seats for Taylor Swift’s tour, you’ll definitely want to tune in!)

Ep. 370: The Paradox of Aging Mar 24, 2023
    Show notes

40 used to seem like an ancient age—practically dead already—but now that we’re there, we still find ourselves wondering what we’re gonna do when we grow up. There’s a lot of pressure placed upon us in our youth, and we found that once we reached 30, life got a lot more exploratory and a lot more fun. It’s been said that age is just a state of mind, and we believe it! You can kick and scream and hate getting old as much as you want, but you can have a lot more fun if you keep making new memories and look to all the best parts of getting older.

    Show notes

Whether in life or in business, there are seasons of quiet and there are seasons of busyness. Ep. 368: Waiting For The Other Shoe to Drop Mar 17, 2023
    Show notes

Have you ever felt that unnerving sense that life was good—almost too good—and like something bad was going to happen at any second? Maybe it’s leftover hyper-vigilance from traumatic events, or maybe you’ve been conditioned to believe you don’t deserve to be happy. Whatever the cause, always expecting loss isn’t going to help you prevent it from happening. Your fears might be holding you back, or worse, you may be manifesting those fears directly into your life! Life is going to have really great moments, and some really shitty ones, too. Might as well spend all your energy looking forward to the great ones.

Expecting the worst to happen [3:06]

Is it a problem if you’re not holding back? [4:09]

    A self-fulfilling prophecy of loss [7:10]

Ep. 367: The Pros and Cons of Breast Implants Mar 15, 2023
    Show notes

Hey, Breasties! —Er... Besties. We mean Besties. We have boobs on the brain because one of you wanted to know some more about implants: should you get them, should you not? Neither Jill nor Danny was blessed in the breast department, but only one of us has experience with implants. Getting your boobs done isn’t a simple decision and if you’re thinking about it, there’s a lot to think about first. There are positives and negatives to whatever you choose, but what matters most is to make sure you’re not getting implants just to put a bandaid on your deepest insecurities.

Ep. 366: Should We Be Marrying Up the Social Ladder? Mar 10, 2023
    Show notes

Hypergamy: it’s an old concept with a new (to us) name. Hypergamy is all about getting into relationships with a person of a higher economic or social status. We’ve all heard about this from period-pieces of the past, but it’s still a practice used by some women, even now. In hindsight it makes sense; women generally want to be taken care of, and the men with the most resources often have the best chance to “provide.” But this is the 1st century, and women don’t need men to be the bread-winners anymore. Is there a way to make the men in our lives take care of us, if not just financially?
