    Ep. 405: Wifey Privileges on a Girlfriend's Salary Jul 26, 2023
    Show notes

Maybe you’ve heard the phrase, “Why buy the cow when you can have the milk for free?” (Ew.) Besides the obvious issue of comparing women to cows, it brings up an interesting question: are there things that a wife does (or should do) that a girlfriend does not? And should women be holding out on certain tasks until we finally get that ring? Barf! Every relationship is different and if you want to be married, that’s great! But there isn’t some magical difference between married and un-married. The way your relationship looks only needs to matter to the people inside it. Everyone else can mind their own damn business.

    Wife vs. girlfriend duties [4:32]

    The rules of cohabitation [6:15]

    What are “wife” privileges? [8:32]

Not everyone wants to get married [9:54]

A relationship can look however you want it to [11:33]

Husband privileges aren’t even real [14:14]

Do you have to do everything with your partner? [17:48]

If it works for you, it works for you [22:34]

Ep. 403: The Emotional Fallout of an Injury Jul 19, 2023
    Show notes

As former athletes and fitness professionals—and hell, just as women in general—it’s easy to tie our identities and self-worth to our bodies. But as we all know, bodies are constantly changing and sometimes those changes are well out of our control, due to illness or injury. When your core identity (or worse—your income) is wrapped up in what your body looks like or does, it can send you spiraling. Trust us, we’ve been there. As shitty as it is, an injury or illness might be exactly the thing you need to teach you acceptance, patience, and show you that you’re so much more than your body.

The mind-fuck of an injury [5:50]

    You need to diversify [7:08]

Remember that nothing is forever [10:44]

The small blessings in illness [11:31]

    Radical acceptance of reality [16:20]

Practicing patience and letting go of control [19:27]

We all have to deal with this at some point [25:21]

Ep. 402: Feeling Guilty For Wanting More Jul 14, 2023
    Show notes

Our Besties tend to be hard-working, high-achieving badasses (yep, looking at you!). But even if you’ve worked hard to get everything you’ve ever dreamed of, it’s normal to want even more. You’re not ungrateful, you’re just a dreamer! No matter how much you “have,” you aren’t a bad person for wanting more and there’s no need for guilt. There’s room for both appreciation and striving.

Feeling guilty for wanting more [2:18]

    Mindfulness matters [3:46]

Ep. 401: We CAN Do Hard Things, But Should We? Jul 12, 2023
    Show notes

We can do hard things. Of course we can. But just because we can, doesn’t always mean that we want to, or ever actually *do* those things. Mental and physical challenges are popular amongst so many groups of people, but is there any utility in pushing yourself to an extreme? Hard times may make us stronger, but we can build strength without a struggle, too. One thing is for sure: one of the best ways to build confidence in yourself and your abilities is to do something difficult, and prove to yourself that you can do whatever you set your mind to.

Doing hard shit for the sake of hard shit [3:45]

    What’s the point? [6:41]

    People have become complacent [8:53]

When you work for something, you value it [15:37]

Building confidence through pushing yourself [19:26]

Everyone has to start somewhere [27:40]

Ep. 400: Sharing Your Breakup on Social Media Jul 07, 2023
    Show notes

Breakups have always been a shitty thing to go through, but now that we post so much about our personal lives online, they’ve become a new kind of terrible. We’ve all seen both the awkward and the well-done breakup posts, and—even worse—we’ve also seen the mysterious parter-disappearances from accounts with no explanation. So what’s better? What’s right? Do you have to let your followers know about the end of your relationship? Or do you let the memory of your ex die, just like the love you once shared?

Announcing a breakup on social media [2:35]

Is anybody owed information on your personal life? [4:34]

A personal brand means showing your life [7:22]

Where the line is drawn [15:40]

If your partner shares, do you have to follow? [17:52]

Ep. 399: Our Exercise Journey Over 40 Jul 05, 2023
    Show notes

We used to be exercise-obsessed but now that we’re a little bit older and a little wiser, our relationship to working out has started to shift. Exercise and nutrition used to rule our lives and for one reason only: to look good. Now that we’re 40, we’re really focused on feeling good, too. There are so many things we wish we had focused on 20 years ago… but we didn’t. All we can do now is focus on the things that will help us feel strong and capable 20 years from now.

Looking good AND feeling good [5:15]

Our relationship to exercise changing after 40 [7:51]

How we feel in the future is created now [10:48]

    Age brings perspective [24:34]

Ep. 398: How To Help A Loved One Through Chronic Illness or Injury Jul 01, 2023
    Show notes

We’ve talked a lot about going through various difficult situations, but it’s a whole different story when a partner or loved one is going through a chronic illness or injury. Overnight, we become caretakers in unexpected ways and it can be tough to handle. It isn’t anyone’s fault when they get sick, but whether we like it or not, our partners’ health does have a big impact on us. It might seem overwhelming and isolating to help your loved one through this, and whatever you’re feeling: it’s okay, and you’re not alone.

Ep. 396: Feeling Sexy At Any Age Jun 23, 2023
    Show notes

Sexiness isn’t defined by one look, clothing style, or age. Sexiness is more of an energy than anything else, and it’s within our power to reclaim our sexiness whenever we want. There’s no such thing as being “too old” to be sexy, or “not lean enough,” or any other prerequisite. I mean, we wake up and choose to be sexy every day! If you find yourself wanting to own your sexy power a little bit more, remember: sexiness is an inside job. You’re already sexy, you just need to own it.

Sexiness and confidence go hand in hand [2:42]

    Sexiness is an energy [4:05]

Find the things that help you feel sexy [7:10]

You can feel sexy without wanting sex [10:13]

The clothes and colors that make you feel confident [11:23]

We can feel sexy at any age [14:23]

Make a date with yourself to get dressed up [16:31]
