Ep. 415: Being Happy Must Be Nice! Aug 31, 2023
    Show notes

We all know social media is curated and often shows just a highlight reel of everyone’s lives. But we’ve been sharing our lives online for so long that now even the good shit brings haters. Sharing even one happy moment earns a passive aggressive, “Must be nice!” from the peanut gallery. So when good things happen, sometimes we’re hesitant to share! Do we have to earn the right to be happy? And who are we even posting the good shit for?

Who are you sharing for? [4:21]

    Public displays of appreciation [7:33]

Share your joy, as long as it’s true [11:05]

Balancing the good and the bad [14:42]

You don’t have to earn the right to enjoy yourself [16:53]

Grief and gratitude can coexist [20:28]

Curated “happiness” is not the way [22:21]

Ep. 414: Your Partner's Different Lifestyle Choices Aug 25, 2023
    Show notes

Nobody wants to date themselves—our partners are different than us, and that’s a great thing! …Well, usually. But sometimes the people we date want different things out of life, and not like major deal breakers, but in the small things, like how we spend money, how much we like to go out to eat, what time to go to bed, and so on. Compromise comes easily at the begging of a relationship, but as time goes on you might start to feel a little resentful at just how differently you and your partner want to be living. Does compromise without resentment even exist?

Accepting your partner’s lifestyle choices [1:05]

    Compromising when it’s important [3:58]

Different roles in your social circle [6:56]

You need to be as truthful as possible [11:12]

A partner who isn’t willing to compromise [13:52]

There is no “perfect” relationship [17:18]

    Challenges lead to growth [20:17]

Maintaining identity outside of your relationship [21:37]

Ep. 413: Are You Insecure or is Your Partner Just an Asshole? Aug 24, 2023
    Show notes

Relationship anxiety is real and happens to the best of us, but at some point it might be worth asking yourself if your insecurities come from within, or if your partner’s behavior is what’s really making you anxious. Inconsistency breeds anxiety and even though we’re all for taking personal responsibility most of the time, it’s just not always your fault! If you’re unsure whether the anxiety is real or not, take a look at the patterns in your relationship and your communication to see if your partner is doing just fine or if they’re just kind of an asshole. Let’s hope it’s the first option!

Or you insecure or is your partner making you anxious? [1:07]

Deciding what actions cross boundaries [4:09]

    Feeling too “needy” [7:31]

    Communicating your needs clearly [10:38]

Understanding your own attachment styles [11:52]

    Look at the patterns [16:09]

    Past triggers and conditioning [17:31]

Take a step back to see the bigger picture [21:30]

Is there such thing as taking too much responsibility? [25:13]

Ep. 412: Mastering the Art of Working from Home Aug 18, 2023
    Show notes

After 2020, so many people had to transition from working in an office to working at home. We’ve been self-employed for a while now so we’ve mastered the art of working from home, but there’s a real learning curve. Without the normal constrictions of an office, there’s no clear time to clock-off. Mixed with the fact that there is always more to be done, you might fall in to the trap of working 24/7. And don’t even get us started on the distractions… If you have dreams of self-employment or you’re yet to master the work-from-home flow, we’ve got some tips to get you on the right track.

    The work-from-home learning curve [2:27]

Ep. 411: Are You Setting Boundaries, or Are You Just an Asshole? Aug 16, 2023
    Show notes

We’ve been hot on setting boundaries for a while now, but it seems like people who aren’t in the personal development space are starting to talk more about them. The problem is, a lot of people get the concept of boundaries a little mixed up. What someone sets as a “boundary” is actually more like just being an asshole. Boundaries aren’t about making people do what you want, they’re about monitoring your own reactions and behaviors. If you find yourself resenting everyone and everything in your life, it doesn’t mean you should start telling everyone what to do. Sometimes the best option is just to walk away.

Do you have boundaries? Or are you just an asshole? [1:49]

Boundaries are about *you* show up [4:35]

You can’t blame others for acting how you allow them to [7:50]

Resentment is your biggest clue [10:09]

    Setting boundaries with yourself [12:30]

Do you secretly enjoy playing the victim? [14:16]

    Getting validation from complaining [17:37]

    Let people be resilient [20:30]

Warmth and boundaries can coexist [23:53]

Ep. 410: When The Old Ways of Doing Things No Longer Works Aug 11, 2023
    Show notes

When you’ve been coaches for as long as we have, the things we once thought we knew are different now. As we learn more, old modes of thinking and doing things no longer work, and we’re faced with a decision: double down on the things we’ve always done, or change it all and adapt. It’s terrifying when your deeply held beliefs become untrue, but it’s also against our value system to keep teaching things we no longer believe in. You might not know all the answers right away, but if you value working and living in integrity, it might be time to let the old ways of thinking go.

Holding on to an idea that no longer works [4:27]

The shame in acting out of integrity [5:29]

    Outdated models of business [8:34]

If it’s not this, then what?! [11:08]

    Ripping the band-aid off [13:36]

Blaming clients when things go wrong [15:20]

It takes time to figure shit out [18:31]

You do better when you know better [21:35]

Ep. 409: Censoring Yourself In Front of Your Parents Aug 09, 2023
    Show notes

After a girls weekend in Vegas with her mom, Jill received some interesting comments about showing “too much skin” in front of her mom. Correct us if we’re wrong but our moms literally made us, so why should we be ashamed to show our bodies in front of them? Maybe it’s a fear of disappointing our parents, or maybe some of just want to be spared from judgmental comments, but shit… we’re all adults here! If we can’t be ourselves—tight dresses, swear words, and all—in front of our parents, then aren’t we denying our family the chance to truly know us? Seems like a lose-lose situation to us.

Can you show “too much skin” in front of your mom? [2:29]

Hiding parts of yourself from your parents [4:34]

The fear of disappointing your parents [8:16]

Dealing with the [passive-aggressive comments [11:33]

    Context matters [15:44]

Let your parents have their own experience [19:32]

Being yourself deepens the relationship [22:01]

Ep. 408: Habits of the Unsuccessful Aug 04, 2023
    Show notes

We don’t know about you, but we’ve never seen a successful hater. There’s something to be said about a person’s energy and how that either blocks or leads to their success. So many of us spend our time hating, complaining, or victimizing ourselves when we could be making much better use of our lives by working hard as hell. We’ve noticed a pattern of behaviors amongst people tend to stay unsuccessful, and if you don’t want that to be you, it might be time to take a good look at how you’re spending your time.

    Drive-by haters [3:01]

Hating people who have the success we want [5:25]

    Energy wasted on negativity [9:05]

    A sense of entitlement [11:48]

Complaining for the sake of complaining [15:00]

Always looking for an out [17:58]

Being able to take constructive criticism [22:57]

Waiting for someone to give you a leg up [25:00]

It matters who you spend your time with [27:43]

Ep. 407: Do We Need to Be Attractive? Aug 02, 2023
    Show notes

We came across a social media post recently, telling us—and women in general—that we don’t need to be attractive. We won’t speak for everyone, but uhhhhhh…. We do! At least, we want to. Of course we don’t have to be attractive every moment of the day, but there’s something to be said about the confidence boost we get when we feel attractive. Look good, feel good, do good right?

Do you *need* to feel attractive? [5:35]

Looking “put together” while traveling [7:58]

Feeling good helps with productivity [10:22]

Look nice for your partner [12:29]

Staying true to who you are [15:41]

    Is it societal conditioning? [16:36]

Ep. 406: Is Religion Hurting People? Jul 28, 2023
    Show notes

Religion is one of the oldest human practices, but it might be time to ask the question of whether or not it causes more harm than good. We’re not religious, so take it all with a grain of salt, but for as much good as religion brings to individuals, it seems to come with a lot of hate and violence packed in. Of course, not every person who practices a religion is hurting others, but is the institution itself to blame?

Religious beliefs that harm others [1:52]

What hurts others is subjective [4:32]

Let people have the full experience [6:50]

    A savior complex [8:47]

Prejudice under the guise of religion [13:36]

An us vs. them mentality [16:38]

Acting in alignment with your own value system [19:05]
