SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 6 of Survivor One World Mar 23, 2012

Show notes

This week we interviewed Colton Cumbie. He left the game in episode 6 of Survivor One World. Colton was able to become one of the most despised people to ever play the game during his short stay on the show. His open displays of bigotry and offensive verbal attacks on his tribemates, made it difficult for many to watch and prompted some long time fans to stop entirely. His exit from the game for medical reasons blindsided the fans, and was anticlimactic for those of us who were anxiously waiting to see him be voted out. Listen to this interview to hear the true medical condition that took him out of the game, who he tried to the give the idol to, how he feels about the things he said and did after watching himself and lots more!

One World Episode 6 Mar 22, 2012

Show notes

The shuffle barely had time to take affect, and now we are on to the merge. As significant as the merge usually is in the game, it was overshadowed by the anti climatic exit of Colton. We never want to see someone have to leave the game for medical reasons. After watching him be so ugly and unnecessarily mean to his tribemates though, a lot of folks were anticipating watching him get voted out, hopefully by a staggering, historic blindside to restore a sense of balance to the game. His exit due to an illness leaves a lot of that unresolved. What did you think about Colton's exit from the game? How about Jonas' take on the role of karma? Who do you think will emerge as the dominant alliance? Will they fall back to the pre-shuffle tribal lines? Who is most likely to betray their original alliances and cross the line to create the new majority?

Here is the merged tribe after episode 6. TBD:Alicia, Chelsea, Christina, Greg, Jay, Jonas Kat, Kim, Leif, Michael, Sabrina and Troy

Jo Ann thinks they may choose to target Michael as a post merge threat. Stacy thinks that Alicia is likely to be reunited with Colton. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

One World Episode 5 LF Mar 19, 2012

Show notes

Episode 5 brought what some saw as the inevitable tribal shuffle. Random shuffles sometimes lead to unbalanced results which many would agree is a good description of what we witnessed. A lot of you are convinced that New Manono does not stand a chance. There were some interesting predictions for who might survive this carnage, and lots of us are still hoping for a Colton blindside to restore harmony to the show.

For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Nineteen fans shared their thoughts on episode 5 and predictions for what we'll see next. We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great Listener Feedback show. This week we heard from: Samantha, Keith, Melvin, EMP, John, Lil' Russ, BrandonB, Maria, Drew, Eric, Jeremiah, Alice, Carolyn, James, BrandonA, Daniel, Christy, MikeK and Paul.

SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 5 of Survivor One World Mar 16, 2012

Show notes

This week we interviewed Monica Culpepper. She left the game in episode 5 of Survivor One World. Her motherly instincts compelled her to help Colton when he struggled early in the game, and he repayed her at the first opportunity by voting her out. Listen to this interview to hear the amazing way her husband helped her prepare for the game, her assessment of Tarzan's mental state, how the supplies were divided between the camps after the shuffle and lots more!

One World Episode 5 Mar 15, 2012

Show notes

Tribal shuffles are an opportunity to reset the game and really test whether a castaway can adapt and improvise. Depending on the outcome, they can spell the death of a solid alliance or protect an existing one and just supply new vote out fodder. The random draw appears to have resulted in some seriously unbalanced tribes this time out. New Salani appears to be stacked with both physical and mental advantages as well as a decent shelter and plentiful food. On top of having two members that do no work around camp, New Manono was burdened with having to start over and build a new camp. It is too soon to say for sure, but given the return of some seriously physical challenges, it seems likely that we might be in for a old school "Pagonging" of New Manono. Who do you think is in a more powerful position now: Kim or Colton? Do you prefer to see a random reorder or a schoolyard pick-em when it comes to shuffling the tribes? Does New Manono stand a chance in future challenges? Is there anyone on that tribe you are still cheering for? What would you do if you were in Christina's position? Who do you think will leave on a medical evacuation? Could you award a million dollars to someone who could not remember your name? What if the other options to choose from were Alicia and Colton?

Here are the tribes after episode 5. New Salani:Chelsea, Jay, Kat, Kim, Michael, Sabrina and Troy New Manono:Alicia, Christina, Colton, Greg, Jonas and Leif

For the medical evacuation, we think it might be Greg/Tarzan. If they opt for a double elimination and still go to Tribal Council, we think Christina will finally get the boot. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

One World Episode 4 LF Mar 12, 2012

Show notes

To say that events in episode 4 touched a nerve is putting it lightly. Unfortunately, one of the castaways this season harbors a very dark and ugly side that was brought into the open this week for all to see. It prompted a range of responses from immediate and strong revulsion to Colton, to abject bewilderment at the actions of the Manono tribe and even some possible scenarios to put the aberrant behavior in perspective. Fans from around the world, from a broad range age groups and different walks of life came together this week to put one of the most bizarre episodes in the history of Survivor into perspective.

For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 4 of Survivor One World Mar 08, 2012

Show notes

This week we interviewed Bill Posley. He left the game in episode 4 of Survivor One World. Bill's exit came as a result of a never before seen event on the show, and was orchestrated by one of the darkest, ugliest people to play the game. Bill represented himself well and will live on in the Survivor history books, but the circumstances surrounding his departure will not be a moment anyone will enjoy recalling. Listen to this interview to hear what personal information he kept from his tribe, what it was like watching with family and friends, why he thought his alliance failed to stand up to Colton and lots more!

One World Episode 4 Mar 08, 2012

Show notes

That was one for the history books! The teasers for episode 4 said it would be something we have never seen, and it certainly delivered. It started out following the standard formula: reaction after tribal, a reward challenge with a slightly surprising victory by Salani and then it got interesting. The betrayal of confidence that Leif pursued combined with the petulant whims of a man child set a series of events in motion that we will be discussing for the rest of this season and probably as long as the show continues to air. Why do you think the Manono tribe appears to be so willing to go along with Colton's directions? Is Colton's behavior egregious enough to make you stop watching altogether? Where did this episode fall on the scale "dumbest moves in Survivor history for you? Can you see any upside to Manono's decision? What do you think will be the best strategy for handling someone as nasty and ugly as Colton? Does he have any chance to make it to the end, or is he now the perfect goat who would get no votes except for possibly Greg's? Given what we've seen so far, who stands the best chance of coming out in control if we do get a tribal shuffle? Is there anyone in particular you are cheering for to get a second chance if the balance of power shifts?

Here are the tribes after episode 4. Salani:Alicia, Chelsea, Christina, Kat, Kimberly, Monica and Sabrina Manono:Colton, Greg, Jay, Jonas, Leif, Michael and Troy

It's anybody's guess as to how it will fall out if they shuffle the tribes, but we're both hoping for a Colton blindside courtesy of his creator, Sabrina. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

One World Episode 3 LF Mar 04, 2012

Show notes

The Salani tribe ended their losing streak in episode 3, but as several of you pointed out it might not have been something they could fully take credit for. A couple of fans believe the men may have thrown the reward challenge. The women certainly benefited from being able to see all the progress the men had made on the tree puzzle in the Immunity challenge too. If you want to take a easy path to becoming a villain on the show and have the fans turn on you, one of the simplest things you can do is demonstrate an attitude of entitlement and an unwillingness to help others. It is certainly working against the women this episode, but none of them came close to Colton. Most fans are already calling for his head and wishing for a crushing blindside.

For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Twenty two fans shared their thoughts on episode 3 and predictions for what we'll see next. We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great Listener Feedback show. SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 3 of Survivor One World Mar 02, 2012

Show notes

This week we interviewed Matt Quinlan. He left the game in episode 3 of Survivor One World. Matt's aggressive pursuit of the control of his tribe made him a source of fear and an early target. He paid the price for his blunt, outspoken opinions and became the first casuality at the hands of the Misfits alliance. Listen to this interview to hear his profile of each of his tribemates, his response to Probst's harsh pre-game assessment, an update on the search for the second hidden immunity idol and lots more!
