    One World Episode 3 Mar 01, 2012
    Show notes

Happy Leap Day! We got another great episode to match this special calendar day. Despite their ongoing trials and tribulations, the Salani tribe finally managed to get their act together and put an end to their losing streak. They exited this episode triumphant at both challenges which forced the Manono tribe to confront their own dysfunctions, albeit somewhat less dramatically. With the exit of their first member we see a confirmation of who is actually in control of the men's tribe. Were you disappointed to see a potential, major villain leave so early in the season? Who did you side with on the matter of sharing fire and shelter for access to the boat and fishing gear? Do you think the misfit alliance can hold together to control the destiny of Manono? When is the right time to try to flush out the HII? Do you think they made the right decision in targeting Matt?

Here are the tribes after episode 3. Salani:Alicia, Chelsea, Christina, Kat, Kimberly, Monica and Sabrina Manono:Bill, Colton, Greg, Jay, Jonas, Leif, Michael and Troy

The women have the momentum now and we both think Colton will get his way and vote of Bill when they lose the next immunity challenge. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

One World Episode 2 LF Feb 27, 2012
    Show notes

The second episode served to further highlight the problems in the Salani tribe which prompted lots of discussion about the value of day one alliances and the right time to disband one. The appeal of Colton appears to be wearing off, and quite a few fans question his strategic ability. Opinions were split on Kat. Most thought her alliance would be much better off without her, but some found her clueless antics so entertaining they want her to stay around. On the whole, most folks are continuing to enjoy this season. Let's hope for more of the same in episode 3!

For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Twenty four fans shared their thoughts on episode 2 and predictions for what we'll see next. We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great Listener Feedback show. This week we heard from: Sandi, Brian, Clifton, Heather, Jeremiah, EMP, Samantha, Maria, Aaron, Crystal, Brandon-B, Ryan, DrewG, John, Carolyn, Ed, BrandonA, Jen, Lil' Russ, Josh, Dwaine, MikeK, Jody and Paul.

SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 2 of Survivor One World Feb 23, 2012
    Show notes

This week we interviewed Nina Acosta. She left the game in episode 2 of Survivor One World. Nina was a committed team player and proved she could endure the pain after a wicked face plant on the first obstacle of the first immunity challenge left her battered and bruised. Unfortunately for her, she ended up on what is shaping up to be one of the most dysfunctional tribes in Survivor history and in keeping with their string of bad choices they sent her packing. Listen to this interview to hear how her family reacted to seeing her injuries, extra details on camp life, a detailed assessment of her tribemates and lots more!

    One World Episode 2 Feb 23, 2012
    Show notes

That is two in a row now where the women have been their own worst enemy in the immunity challenge, and it marks an overall 3 in a row series for the men. Colton appears to be going out of his way to alienate his tribe. Unfortunately for him, the women do not want him either. Do you think having the HII has given him a false sense of security? Tonight we got our second DIY reward challenge. How do you think it went minus Probst? Jeff is continuing a trend he started back a few seasons ago where he more activley inserts himself into the action with leading commentary and by providing questions to certain castaways which appear to contain a desired answer. How do you feel about this shift in the balance of the game? What do you think about Sabrina as the leader of the Salani tribe? Nina said they had no communication and no teamwork during the challenge. Will they really be able to follow her? Is Colton slowly losing his grip on the game, or did he actually take control of the Manono tribe this week? Why do you think the power alliance in Salani opted to keep Kat? Will Kat shape up or continue to undermine her tribe's chances? Would you give the other tribe fire if you saw them suffering? Do you think we will see another quitter this season if the conditions get bad enough?

Here are the tribes after episode 2. Salani:Alicia, Chelsea, Christina, Kat, Kimberly, Monica and Sabrina Manono:Bill, Colton, Greg, Jay, Jonas, Leif, Matt, Michael and Troy

We both think the women will continue their losing streak. Stacy thinks Christina will be next to go. Jo Ann thinks the women might correct their mistake on day 5 and possibly get rid of Kat. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

The first episode is behind us and it is time to see how you did with your JABBIC predictions and weigh in on what you think of the cast now that we finally got to see them in action. Chelsea impressed a lot of you. Alicia and Sabrina managed to surprise quite a few too. Even though many folks thought the episode was a bit anticlimatic for obvious reasons, many commented positively about this cast in general with many of us surprised by how many different castaways we found ourselves actually liking.

This week we interviewed Kourtney Moon. She left the game in episode 1 of Survivor One World. Unfortunately, she made Survivor history when she broke both bones in her arm in the first challenge and left the game for obvious medical reasons. Welcome back! That seemed like a solid first episode. Did the lack of a complete challenge affect your assessment? It would have been nice to go with the 90 minute version we got last time, but there were certainly some characters that stood out early. Two Chicken Chelsea was impressive. Jay's ability to make make fire with the bamboo saw was also noteworthy. Sabrina surprised us by finding the first HII, and Country Club Colton may have just silently taken control of his tribe by way of Sabrina's gift. Did the guys hurt their long term chances by not sharing fire or completing the challenge? Did Chelsea hurt her future by renegging on the deal to share the chickens? Would you have opted to complete the challenge when you were already free from tribal council? Is Colton guaranteed to make the merge now? Is Matt living on borrowed time. Do you think the women stand a chance at being able to work together? Who suprised you the most? Did your impressions of anyone change after you got to see them in action in this first episode?

Here are the tribes after episode 1. Salani:Alicia, Chelsea, Christina, Kat, Kimberly, Monica, Nina and Sabrina Manono:Bill, Colton, Greg, Jay, Jonas, Leif, Matt, Michael and Troy

Stacy thinks the women are not going to gel anytime soon and that Christina will be next go. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

It's less than a week now till the first episode of Survivor One World airs. It can be challenging to recognize any of the 18 new castaways at the beginning of the season, but we've got an answer for that to enhance your Survivor viewing experience. It's called the JABBIC, "Judge A Book By Its Cover", shows. We get started before the first episode airs and record our early thoughts on this new group and make predictions about the degree of success they will experience in the game. Through this process, we find that at least a few of them will stand out from the beginning it greatly improves the odds of recognizing your early favorites.

This is Part 2 of our "Judge a Book by its Cover" show. Nineteen fans, just like you, recorded their perspective on the new cast including their choice of favorites, who's most likely to get voted out first, make the merge, have a shot at the final tribal council as well as who has what it takes to win it all.

We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great JABBIC show. This week we heard from: Sandi, Brian, Dwaine, Jen, Samantha, Anna, EMP, BrandonA, DrewG, Dave, Brandon, MikeK, Lil' Russ, Mikeybear, Jeremiah, Eric, Paul, Tyler and Doug.

Welcome to Part I of our "Judge a Book by its Cover" show for season 24, Survivor One World. JSFL Official Rules Jan 31, 2012
    Show notes

    JSFL Official Rules

Jo Ann and Stacy's Survivor Fantasy League Rules

Summary: Scoring is divided into two phases with special bonuses available throughout the game.

Phase 1: Slowly build your lead each week by picking 4 “safe” Survivors. Add a 5th point if you can correctly guess who gets voted out that week too. Make sure to pace your selections as you are limited to how many times you can choose each Survivor as safe.

Phase 2: Lock in the win by picking the correct order of the final four.

    Bonus Points:

    • Score a “come from behind” upset when you demonstrate your psychic ability by choosing the Sole Survivor before the first show even airs.
    • Get a jump on the competition by picking the Survivor who will be voted out first.
    • Get a boost at the mid point by picking the first member of the jury.
    • Listen to the podcast for special bonus questions. Send in your answer and score some bonus points just for being a good listener.

The player with the most points at the end of the season is declared the winner!

The Prize: A $25 gift card from The Survivor CBS Store

Send your questions via email to: jsfl.admin@gmail.com

    JSFL Basic Rules:

No Spoilers Notice: We produce the podcast and run the JSFL to increase the enjoyment of watching Survivor each week. We do this for fun and believe that reading spoiler sites to get an advantage will ruin the experience. If you like spoiler sites and knowing what will happen next, this game and the Survivor Fans Podcast are not for you.

    Phase 1: (Weekly Play)

Prior to each episode, players shall select 4 survivors that they believe will be “safe” from the vote for that episode. In addition, players will also need to submit their guess for which Survivor does get voted out that week. Remember to click the submit button to record your choices or your selections will not be saved.

The deadline for Weekly Play selections is enforced by the automated website and typcially set at 6:30 PM CDT. Your selections will stay in affect until you explicitly send in a change. If we have not received an update from you by deadline, we'll use your picks from the previous week. However, be advised that you will be dropped from the game for the remainder of the season if you fail to submit your picks 3 weeks in a row. “Safe” means that the survivor will not be “the person voted out” or leave for any reason during that episode.

    * The Twist: Each player can only select a given Survivor 6 times to be safe throughout weekly play (~12 weeks). Meaning, if there are 12 weeks of weekly play, you can only select any one survivor to be safe 6 times over that 12 week period. There is no restriction on how many times you can select someone to be voted out.

Each successful “safe” selection equals 1 point. Each successful “voted out” selection equals 1 point, with the exception of the first episode. See the First Out Bonus below for more details.

There are typically a maximum of 5 possible points per player per week. On weeks when more than one Survivor is voted out, and we know ahead of time, we may add an option to score an additional "voted-out" point.Depending on variations in the game, there will be at least 60 total Weekly Play points available in Phase 1.

    Phase 2: (Final Four)

Final Four selections shall be submitted by 6:30 PM CDT, the day of the finale.

Final Four scoring is as follows:

    Correctly select 4th place = 5 points

    Correctly select 3rd place = 10 points

    Correctly select 2nd place = 15 points

    Correctly select 1st place = 20 points

Total possible Final Four points = 50

    Bonus Points:

First Out Bonus 2 Point Bonus: (FOB)

Jump out to a commanding lead by picking the first Survivor to be voted off before the first episode airs.

Each player shall select one (1) survivor as their First Out choice. Should that survivor be voted out during the first episode, that player will be awarded a 2 point bonus.

Failure to select a First Out contestant by this deadline shall constitute a no-selection.

First on Jury 2 Point Bonus: (FOJ)

Here's a chance to recover a lost point, when one of your weekly Vote Off choices made during phase one turns out to be the First Jury member.

No special selection process is required. If your weekly Vote Off choice becomes the first jury member, you will be awarded two points that week instead of just one.

Ultimate Survivor 24 Point Bonus: (USB)

Demonstrate those hidden ESP skills. Pick the Ultimate Sole Survivor before the first show airs and make the rest of us all hate you for being so “damn lucky”!

Each player shall select one (1) survivor as their Ultimate Survivor. Should that survivor win, that player will be awarded a 24 point USB.

Failure to select an Ultimate Survivor by this deadline shall constitute a no-selection. Remember, you have to click Submit for your selection to be recorded.

    USB 10 Point Second-Chance Option:

We've reached the merge and you're feeling like you want to change your pick? Here's your chance but it's going to cost you. :)

Only players whose ultimate survivor is still in the game and who choose to change their ultimate survivor pick shall be eligible for the 10 point USB.

Note: Should the player choose to not change their ultimate survivor, they would remain eligible for the 24 point USB.

USB 5 Point Second Chance Option:

Was your first swag at picking the Ultimate Survivor way off the mark. Don't fret. There's still a chance to redeem yourself for a few extra bonus points.

If the player’s ultimate survivor is no longer in the game following the final merge, the player shall have a second opportunity to pick a new ultimate survivor.

If that ultimate survivor pick wins the game, the player shall receive a 5 point USB.

Only players whose ultimate survivor has been previously been voted out shall be eligible for the 5 point USB.Selections for the USB Second-Chance shall be submitted no later than the deadline imposed by the automated website on the day of the airing of the first episode after the final merge occurs.

    Listener Reward Bonus Questions

Listen to the podcast to be eligible for special Listener Bonus points. Intermittantly throughout the season, we'll announce a question based on something said in one of our podcasts. Submit your answer with your weekly picks and score extra points that week. Click on the Answer Question link to submit your answer.

    Tie Breakers

In the event that several players are tied for the most points at the end of the season, we may choose to break the tie by holding a Survivor Trivia contest. Additional details on the trivia contest will be made available if this becomes necessary.

Credits: Big thanks to listeners Bob and Jac who did all the heavy lifting by creating the original set of rules.

Note: It may become necessary to modify the rules during the course of the season to accomodate changes in the format of the show. We reserve the right to make addendums to the rules at any time to account for these changes. All decisions are the responsibility of the Survivor Fans Podcast and are final.
