66: How to Find Your Purpose and Trust Your Intuition with Being My Purpose Founder Julie Chan Oct 03, 2016
    Show notes

Julie Chan did everything she was supposed to do. She grew up on New York's Lower East side with hardworking parents who were immigrants from China and very focused on education for their children, so Julie studied hard and went to Yale University and graduated with a B.A., and then went on to MIT a graduated with a Master's degree in City Planning. She got a great job working with the city of New York. But still, "something was missing," and she had a sense that whatever that was, she'd have to create it for herself. And that meant finding her true purpose.

A self-described introvert, Julie went through her own transformation -- and tons of resistance -- of becoming more in touch with her gifts, her calling to speak (and sing!) in front of audiences, and eventually the creation of her business, Build My Purpose, where she helps her clients find their purpose and tap into their own intuitive senses. On this episode, Julie talks about the spiritual experience that pushed her to ask all the deep questions and why being clear on our purpose helps us move forward with important clarity on decisions in our businesses and our lives. And hey, you may feel this is a little too woo woo for you and you might be skeptical -- I understand -- that is until Julie gave me a personal reading of my own, which I included in this episode. Let's just say I'm a believer. Check it out!

    On this episode you'll learn...

How to tap into your power as an introvert. The importance of realizing and acting upon your purpose.Giving yourself permission to pursue your purpose.Realizing only fear and resistance is holding you back.Defining what you want to share in the world.Aligning your purpose with your vision for your business and your life.Getting over your ego mind and self chatter. Why tapping into your purpose helps you make important decisions about future projects. Why your expression of your purpose evolves.5 Ways your purpose affects your life.Thank you for listening! 63: Building a Conscious Business with The Corporate Yogi Julie Zuzek Sep 28, 2016
    Show notes

"Never let them see you cry..." was some of the worst advice that conscious business coach Julie Zuzek says she has ever received during her 20-year corporate career. Instead of being the "tough guy" in her corporate gig, Julie realized that what she needed to do was get in touch with her divine feminine energy -- which has nothing to do with being female and everything to do with being grounded in compassion, community and empathy. This evolution and personal development is the kind of insight that Julie offers to her clients through her business, The Corporate Yogi, where she supports them from both the strategic and spiritual side.

On this episode, Julie talks to us about building a conscious business, how to navigate the conflict between your head and your heart, how to find your dharma, and why entrepreneurship is the most intense personal development you will ever experience.

    On this episode you'll learn…

How to build a conscious business. What role personal development plays in your entrepreneurial journey.3 ways the ego tries to sabotage you.Why you have to let go of the how.Why you shouldn't keep your dreams a secret. Why having a coach to "lean into" is vital to getting out of your comfort zone.3 tips for shifting your mindset. The importance of standing in your power, especially as a woman. How to get to the root of why you're procrastinating.

59: Dr. Yaba Blay on Doing the Work and Being a #ProfessionalBlackGirl Sep 22, 2016
    Show notes

Dr. Yaba Blay takes this work seriously. Very seriously. And she creates content that celebrates the beauty and joy and being of Black women and girls decidedly. Purposely.

Dr. Blay -- who holds her BA in Psychology (Cum Laude) from Salisbury State University, M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from the University of New Orleans, M.A. and Ph.D. in African American Studies from Temple University and is currently the Dan Blue Endowed Chair in Political Science at North Carolina Central University -- is the creator behind the beloved new video series Professional Black Girl, airing on YouTube. She is also creator of the social media movement #PrettyPeriod and author of the book (1)ne Drop: Shifting the Lens on Race. Her work, as both an academic and as a creative, has always been driven by her love of Black women -- their experiences, their forms of expression and who they be -- and it was informed in large part by her own formative years of soaking up the images of powerful women on Black television shows. On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Dr. Blay talks about her passion for inspiring people to think not only in the classroom, but through content, why she considers her self the anti-academic academic, and why radical self care -- and being joyful -- is more important now than ever.
