My parents always had big dreams for me. They wanted to make me the best gymnast so they had started training me ever since I was little and I was very good at it so they were dedicated towards the goal even more as I grew. They were very strict about my training routine and my eating habits. I had to train every day with exercise and running in the morning and evening. During the day I would have to do the bodyweight and movement exercises and after school, I had to train with a professional gymnastics trainer at the training center. It was pretty hectic. And then I wasn’t allowed to eat junk food or any food that was not made by my mother after counting all the calories.

I faintly had the memory of how I used to play with kids my age when I was little. We used to play outside, go to one another’s birthday parties, and go to school together. I used to have people around me that I liked being around other than my parents.

But things changed when I was 8 years old. We suddenly started moving from place to place, a new place, and a new home in a new neighborhood every year.

One night, I was walking home after closing up the diner late at night. I hated working so late, but I needed all the money I could get for college. It was dark and foggy, which I found odd. Suddenly, as I was walking past an alley, someone touched my elbow. It was an old man. He smiled at me, but I honestly panicked when he reached into his pocket. I’m a tall guy, so I thought I could most definitely take him in a fight, but I didn't wanna fight an old man.

Believe it or not, I was pregnant for 3 years. Sounds crazy? Well, it's true.

My husband and I were always trying for a baby - we desperately wanted one but I never managed to get pregnant. It was so unfair, because all of my brothers and sisters were getting married and having beautiful children, but I was apparently unlucky. My husband and I were so scared we were infertile, but we still had hope.

He thought he was wiser than the greatest Chinese philosophers and quite frankly it made me sick. We are wealthy but I don’t get to reap many rewards of that wealth. My parents grew up in poverty and worked their way up. Today my dad is a well renowned architect and my mom is the CEO of a major tech company. They attributed their success to the determination that came from wanting to escape a life of poverty and struggles.

Believe it or not, I had amnesia. It all started a couple of years ago, when I woke up at the hospital, with no memory of who I was. I remember opening my eyes and having no memory whatsoever. Imagine waking up and not even knowing your own name!

The doctors told me they had found me on the side of the road, with a crack in my skull. A passerby called an ambulance and I was immediately taken into surgery. They said I was lucky to be alive, but that I had amnesia.

“Be on your best behavior, eat the veggies I packed for you and remember, stay away from girls!” my dad said to me on my first day of kindergarten.

I’ve lived alone with my dad for as long as I can remember. Since I could understand English, he brainwashed me to become hateful towards girls. He’d say things like “Bernie, listen to me. Girls are gross and carry many diseases.”, “If you talk to girls you will become dumb.”, “Girls are disgusting and should be avoided at all times. They’re also super boring and scared of everything.”

I idolized my father and wanted to become just like him. After all, he was the only parent I had. He was my only role model so I listened to everything he said.

It was mostly because my family was very disturbing as my father was out drinking all the time and my step-mom was complaining all the time. It was a very toxic environment so there was nothing for me there and no one cared about me so I just left.
