    Redefining Movement

Redefining Movement, the LYT podcast, is hosted by two Physical Therapists: Lara Heimann, founder of LYT, and Kristin Williams, COO & Senior LYT Instructor. Together, they explore movement through the lens of physical therapy, neuroscience, and the lived experience of being human.

Blending scientific insights with soulful perspectives, Lara and Kristin transform our understanding of how our bodies and minds interact. Though the show has changed in several ways since the first episode in 2018, the mission remains steadfast and clear: to help us find freedom and feel empowered through intelligent movement patterns and a compassionate outlook, so we can all live more capable, connected, and uplifted lives.

All healthy relationships depend on communication and mutual respect.

During this pandemic, people are likely spending more time with their partners than ever, and we all hear about the stress this can cause—especially if the relationship is not rooted in respect. You need to hold the bar high for what you expect to give and receive out of a relationship.

315 | Going to Relationship School | with Ellen Boeder and Jayson Gaddis Nov 13, 2020
    Show notes

Ellen Boeder and Jayson Gaddis are a married couple, both psychotherapists, and they practice LYT™ Daily! Jayson is the founder of The Relationship School, as well as the host of The Relationship School Podcast, and he has a lot to say about becoming a good partner.

Ellen Boeder, MA, LPC is a psychotherapist and coach for couples in Boulder, Colorado, who has been interested in how relationships actually work for as long as she can remember. Studying with innovative researchers and cutting edge practitioners in the field of psychology, relationships, and yoga for over 20 years has helped her integrate her approach to working with people in a sensitive, straightforward, deeply informed and embodied way. The most high-level training she does is usually at home with her husband and two young children, as she finds her way through the real, raw, and beautiful experience of being deeply intertwined with others. Ellen is also a faculty member for The Relationship School, a long time yoga practitioner, and writes a blog that incorporates her studies in psychology with her life experience as a mother, called Rearranged by Motherhood.

We talk about their relationship, Jayson’s development of a relationship school, and being trained as a trauma-informed yoga practitioner. We also dive into what happens when one person in a relationship starts changing, and the other person gets left behind.

    313 | Critical Thinker Nov 09, 2020
    Show notes

Critical thinking is super important in the world we live in today. It is a skill that we must master if we want to thrive. So how can we all be more critical thinkers in our day to day lives?

Critical thinking means thinking carefully about something without letting emotions or opinions affect you. And this is a very hard thing to do! You really have to challenge yourself to look at all sides of something, instead of searching out confirmation for what you already believe. Regardless of how good you are at it now, it is something that you can improve upon, and I believe it is vital for the future of our world.

309 | Bringing Fun to Fitness | with Craig Ramsay Oct 30, 2020
    Show notes

I have some fantastic news for you: Craig Ramsay is here to uplift us all! Colin Farrel once called him “genius,” Sharon Osborne said he is brilliant, and just about everyone agrees that he’s one of the most entertaining experts in the fitness world (in addition to being one of People Magazine’s Top Fitness Experts).

When Craig started bringing fitness for the masses, he saw that there was a sense of alienation there. He made it his mission to lighten the mood energetically and help people enjoy working out and moving their bodies. He manages this by making working out fun again, by incorporating stretches with wine tasting and running with slot machines. He’s tapping into the things that will actually motivate someone to incorporate fitness into their lifestyle, and it works!

    307 | The Benefits of a Good Cry Oct 26, 2020
    Show notes

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.”

    —Washington Irving

Sometimes, all we need in order to release is a good cry.

We’ve been conditioned to believe that showing emotion through tears is weak and off putting to people, and some people have become so good at stuffing that down that they’ve conditioned themselves to lock that away. But crying is an important, natural response, and we need to learn to embrace that.
