    Unsolicited Advice Mar 13, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode Georgie and Engrid unpack giving and receving unsolicited advice. They are tacking the question: why do people feel compelled to help or share their input (especially when the other person isn't looking for help)

    IN THIS EPISODE:

A working definition of what it means to "hold space"

    Helpful responses to uncomfortable/hard topics

Reasons why we like to offer help/fix/give advice

How uncomfortable it can be to sit with other people's emotions

If you grew up receiving validation for always having the answers

    One-Uppers, Know-It-Alls, & Empaths

Our society likes to sell us problems and solutions and we are a product of that

Honoring The Hard Parts Of Recovery Mar 06, 2020
    Show notes

This episode is inspired by a recent post from Katie Dalebout

"Having a body has caused my mind pain. Having a mind has caused my body pain"

    IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:

The feelings shame we both experienced for the thoughts we had during our eating disorder recovery

    Engrid's letter

What's happening when you choose recovery?

    • Breaking up from an abusive relationship
    • Stockholm Syndrome
    • Losing a coping tool
    • Aninostalgia

What's it like to live in a diet culture world as someone who's in recovery?

    Recent triggering experiences

Smaller bodies receiving more positive recognition, praise, compliments, affirmation, & validation

from people who are still stuck in the mindset that there's a hierarchy of bodies (literally darwin made a heirarchy of bodies - based on race and sex) - people who don't believe that don't praise it) - We have to start this movement and build momentum - it's a belief not the truth

    Validating your work

Your not wrong for wanting to be in a smaller body

    Self focus // self destruction

    The compromise of choosing recovery:

    • What you give up (CONTROL)
    • What you gain (FREEDOM)
    • Shift focus away from SELF

The Balance Of Achievement & Self Acceptance Feb 21, 2020
    Show notes

    OPENING Q:

What is between me and being at home in my body?

"If you're inhabiting your body you're feeling change...if you're really awake in your body, you'll notice it's out of control. You can't be present and controlling at the same time." - Tara Brach

Today's topic Inspired by Ep. 409 Tim Ferriss and Brene Brown

    DEEP DIVE Q's:

How can you be self accepting without becoming complacent?

What if we can look at achievement as fun versus necessary?

    Awakening → Discomfort → Choice

How do you define "high achieving"?

How much of your achievement is driven purely by your desires? Vs. how much of it is driven by the fear of how others perceive you?

Where is the line between striving for excellence and embracing who we are?

How can you be high achieving without being self-abusing?

How can I avoid becoming myopically fixated on the extraordinary?

How can we recognize if we have a fear of being ordinary?
