    Private Practice Success Stories

    My name is Jena Castro-Casbon, MS CCC-SLP (of The Independent Clinician and The Private Practice Solution).

    I am part of a group of private practitioners who have taken client care into our own hands.

    We are skilled clinicians who pride ourselves on providing high-quality care to our clients and their families.

    We are fighting against productivity requirements, administrative red tape and unnecessary restrictions.

    We started our own private practices to take control of our professional and personal lives. Of our schedules. Of our incomes. Of our future.

    We work hard for our clients but on our terms.

    We believe in helping others – but also helping ourselves.

    We’re not interested in competing with each other. We hope that we all make it.

    We are successful private practitioners and these are our stories.

    Choosing Her Own Adventure with Jeannette Washington Jun 13, 2020

    Private Practice Director, Professor, Author AND Mom May 27, 2020

    Susannah Silvia, a friend of Jena's from high school in New Orleans, was determined to overcome the odds despite the staggering effect of Hurricane Katrina on her personal and professional life. She pursued a career in early intervention and now is the director of the same private practice at which she started her clinical fellowship. Currently she balances being a mother, author, and professor with a goal to increase her impact on the SLP world in the upcoming year.

    Katie Brown knew she could convert her passion for the adult medical field into a private practice early on. After experiencing the life of a generalist SLP in skilled nursing and acute care, she felt her calling was to deliver patient-focused adult care in patients’ homes.
