I'm In Love With That Song: Pink Floyd - 'Us And Them' Jul 01, 2020
    Show notes

Pink Floyd released "Us & Them" in 1973, but it fells like it could've been written yesterday. Can we ever get past our compulsion to separate "us" from "them"? This is a song for the ages, with some brilliant performances across the board from everyone involved-- band members, guest artists, backing singers and recording engineers alike. Let's try to listen to this song afresh and rediscover what makes this classic track great.

Rock Candy Ep. 125: Interview with Eddie Reyes of Taking Back Sunday Jul 01, 2020
    Show notes

We have a wonderfully special and especially wonderful episode this week! We are forgoing our usual format to bring you a delightful interview with Eddie Reyes, veteran songwriter, guitarist, and founder of Taking Back Sunday. He spent two decades in TBS and toured the world many times over, so you better believe he has some fun stories! We talk about everything from being on the road with TBS (lots of salami involved), to being a dad of two teenagers (and having to feed them too, to our collective love of metal (we get schooled). Believe us when we say we were ecstatic he agreed to be on our show and we had a blast shooting the shit with him. It's official - we're all bffs now.

Make it Stop: Season 3 Finale Part 2- Corey Feldman - 'Angelic 2 The Core' (w/ Tooky Kavanagh and Dicky Stock) Jul 01, 2020
    Show notes

(Part 2 of 2).. Alright Stoppies, you sick fucks. You know what time it is, because you assholes voted for it - and we couldn't be prouder/more disgusted. That's right baby, it's time for a Core-tastrophe of epic proportions - a nightmarish plunge into the twisted mind of the "Skrillex you bought on Wish" aka Corey Feldman, best known for starring in classic 80s movies like Stand By Me and the Lost Boys, but almost equally notorious for his serious drug addiction, history of severe mental illness, and of course ludicrously terrible musical forays. However nothing could prepare the public consciousness for 2016's dubstep-nu-metal-ragtime?!-nightmare "Angelic 2 The Core", where no longer Yung Corey debuted on The Today Show with a badly autotuned cigarette skwawk, skintight pleather jeggings, and a harem of dead eyed fembot "Angels" whose backstory is more fucked up than perhaps anything we've EVER discussed on this show. We somehow convince Boston area comedians Tooky Kavanagh and Dicky Stock to "Go 4 It" with us, and after 3 and a half hours of batshit bananas fuckery (our longest episode yet!), we are definitively worse people for it, and there will be no redemption for our listeners either. Sor-ey about it. We split it up into 2 episodes to stretch out the end of our season, but mostly to save your soul.

Side Jams 21: Aaron Bruno (AWOLNATION) Jul 01, 2020
    Show notes

AWOLNATION Aaron Bruno likes his music to be as diverse as possible, and the group's fourth and latest release Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders continues that genre-bending trend. When he's not actively touring or making music, Aaron loves chasing the perfect wave. He's a lifelong surfer who enjoys the feeling of being out on the water. Sometimes he even solves musical dilemmas while on his board.

No Filler: 'mewithoutYou' - [A→B] Life- When Poetry and Post-Hardcore Meet Jun 30, 2020
    Show notes

mewithoutYou's debut record [A→B] Life defies the genre labels one might be eager to place on it. Singer Aaron Weiss' poetic lyricism and spoken word-style vocals can sometimes feel emo, but his philosophical themes go so much deeper than emo's hallmarks of self-loathing and insecurity. And the impassioned screams and neurotic mumbling sprinkled so effectively throughout his vocal performances leave the listener just as emotionally gutted as the words Weiss is punctuating. Musically the rest of the band weave punk, post-hardcore, and grunge throughout the record in such a way that makes their sound just as varied and sporadic as the vocal performances. For fans of all of the above: this record is certainly one to put on and fully engage with.

    1. mewithoutYou - Bullet To Binary
    2. mewithoutYou - The Ghost
    3. mewithoutYou - Everything Was Beautiful And Nothing Hurt
    4. mewithoutYou - (A)
    5. mewithoutYou - Gentlemen
    6. Narrow Head - Night Tryst
    7. Smokey Robinson - Baby That's Backatcha
    8. mewithoutYou - Wolf Am I ( And Shadow)
