Ditty TV: Christian Lopez Dec 11, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to Insights, everyone. Today, our guest is West Virginia native and alternative-Americana artist Christian Lopez, a high-energy, whole-hearted performer whose new third studio album, The Other Side, was just released back in October. Lopez says that if he wants his music to last in the world, he has to stay as authentic as possible, and that means not compromising or being boxed in. That also applies to just being a human, he adds. Wherever that leads him, he’s sure that'll be the place that he was meant to be, both musically and mentally.

His new album was produced by Robert Adam Stevenson (who's worked with Jeff Beck, Queens Of The Stone-age, and Johnny Depp, to name a few), and we talk all about it in today's show. We recommend you buy his music, get out to his shows, and support his art, but for the next hour or so, kick back enjoy this exclusive conversation with Christian Lopez, right here on DittyTV.

The Goldmine Podcast takes a look at a newly released album by the '80s San Francisco new wave band Times Beach with music appraiser Stephen M.H. Braitman. Besides running his own music appraisal company (musicappraisals.com) and co-hosting an AXS-TV series with Ahmet Zappa called Rock My Collection, Braitman decided to press vinyl records of never-released recordings (studio and live) of Times Beach, called Step In Time, Braitman explains the entire history of the band and their unique sound on an episode of the podcast.

Performance Anxiety: Ellen Foley (Meat Loaf, The Clash) Dec 10, 2021
    Show notes

I am joined by the multi-talented artist Ellen Foley. You might remember her from the musical Hair, or maybe as public defender Billie Young from the 80’s sitcom Night Court, or maybe as the female lead from Meatloaf’s Paradise By The Dashboard Light (or the entire Bat Out Of Hell album for that matter). She talks about a lot more than those highlights, though. There’s moving to NYC from St. Louis to pursue her career. There’s also recording her own album’s after Bat Out of Hell, which led to a relationship with The Clash’s Mick Jones. THAT led to The Clash being her band for her second album, Spirit of St. Louis. THAT led to a wikipedia entrance citing her as the influence for the song Should I Stay Or Should I Go and subsequent royalty payments! After years of acting, theater, and raising a family, she’s got a new album out. And to bring things full circle, she duets with Karla DeVito, the singer who lip-syncs in the Paradise By The Dashboard Light video, and who sang Ellen’s part on Meatloaf’s tour.

Pick up Ellen’s new album, Fighting Words wherever you get music. Follow her on Instagram @ellen_foley_stoprightthere & twitter @EllenFoleyNYC. Follow us @PerformanceAnx on social media. You can help the show at ko-fi.com/performanceanxiety & performanceanx.threadless.com. And thank you for checking out Ellen Foley on Performance Anxiety, part of the Pantheon Podcast Network.

Dennis McNally tells us about his first Dead show in 1972, gives us some truly amazing Songfacts (you'll want to hear the story of Terrapin Station), and recounts his time with the band as their biographer and publicist.

If you love the Dead like I do, stick around for this one as we hear some great stories from someone who lived within the wonderful world that is the Grateful Dead. Please join me in welcoming Dennis McNally.
