90: Outfit Juice & A Puddle of Hairspray Happiness: Pretty in Pink May 02, 2023
Show notes It's May and we have a new theme, Is This Movie A-May-zing or Awful? It's a full month of questionable movies and characters that we are thrilled to dive into. Our first episode is a banger! We are covering the 80's classic Pretty in Pink starring Molly Ringwald as Andie, a creative outcast who crushes on Blane, played by Andrew McCarthy. He's a 'richie' who also falls for her until Andie's 'bestie' Ducky, played by John Cryer and Blanes social circle gets involved. In this episode: we contemplate if Ducky is the Limoncello La Croix of the 80's (good at first but then nauseating the more you get), get nostalgic about Aqua Net hairspray and smoking in schools (obviously not together), and critique Andie's style which causes Corrine to run out of outfit juice and Tamara to call her Molly Wrongwald. We are putting our 80's rose tinted glasses on for this episode and it makes everything look Pretty in Pink, so join us.

89: Anger Flavored & Mannequin Make Out Sessions: The DUFF Apr 25, 2023
Show notes It's our last installment of Free To Be You & Me and we're ending the month with a bang! We are covering The DUFF, starring Mae Whitman as Bianca, a high school girl who proudly walks to the beat of her own drum, until her neighbor Wesley, played by Robbie Amell informs her that she is the DUFF (Designated, Ugly, Fat, Friend) to her two hot besties and mayhem ensues. In this episode we agree to go on an anger apology tour to make amends for our misguided high school fury, argue the merits of giving your crush an edible arrangement and contemplate what anger flavored tastes like. We are channeling our inner Bianca's for this episode but our DUFF stands for delightful, unique fun friends because it's our show and we can do whatever we want.

    88: Rabid Mama Bears & Beyonce Flies: Anything's Possible Apr 18, 2023
Show notes We are knee deep in the Free to Be You and Me month and are so excited to be covering the movie Anything's Possible. It stars Eva Reign as Kelsa a transgender girl trying to navigate her last year of high school when she meets Khal, played by Abubakr Ali and they become a modern pair of star crossed lovers but with slightly less doom. In this episode we: share our parents origin stories (which include smelly fingers and settling), Google Abubakr's age to make sure it's ok to objectify him, and ponder whether Corinne's mom Barbara single handedly took down the clothing store Clothestime over a coupon. We are loving the diversity and acceptance in this movie and want more, More, MORE.

87: Balls & Columns to the Wall: My Big Fat Greek Wedding Apr 11, 2023
Show notes It's our second installment of Free To Be You & Me in April and this week we are doing My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It stars Mia Vardalos as Toula a woman stuck in life and with her very big, loud, Greek family until she meets Ian played by John Corbett, then 'Opa!' everything changes. In this episode we must apologize profusely for our bad accents, which we use throughout as we discuss: how Greek wives play their husbands like mandolins, the meaning of our names (hint they're both awful and spur Corinne to do a interpretive dance), and give bad renditions of songs from Grease cause it sounds like Greece and we don't know any real Greek songs. We hope this episode doesn't rub you the wrong way...but if it does, put a little Windex on it and join us for My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

86: Holy Fishnet Stocking & Swiss Army Penises: Lars & The Real Girl Apr 04, 2023
Show notes It's April and we are switching gears to a new theme-Free To Be You & Me, centering around movies where people fly their individuality flags high, and we are here for it. Our first movie is Lars & The Real Girl. It stars Ryan Gosling as Lars, a complicated young man who's having a tough time dealing with his sister in law's pregnancy. What does Lars do to cope? Why, he buys a Real Girl sex doll named Bianca and squires her around his small town. In this episode: we ponder whether you can buy a sex doll with sensible slacks or khaki pants, argue over what's a better couple name for Lars and Bianca - Blars or Laranca, and contemplate alternate plot lines like Lars and The Tree or Lars and The Bush. How many times can we say 'good time' in this episode? We say it a lot and it's because Lars & the Real Girl has been one of our best episodes to date.

85: Laura Ashley Tornados & Kelly LeBrock Makeovers: As Good As It Gets Mar 28, 2023
Show notes March is still going to the dogs and in this week's movie we have the most exceptional doggy star! We are covering As Good As It Gets which stars Jack Nicholson as Melvin and unpleasant, obsessive, curmudgeon who insists on making everyone's life miserable except for Carol, played by Helen Hunt, his crush who also happens to wait tables at the diner he frequents. Also thrown into the mix are a gay neighbor, a 'take no shit' art dealer and a cute dog named Verdell, played by Jill the Dog. In this episode: we explore how we feel about forehead licks (based on our stance around forehead kisses, not good), Corinne explains the multiple uses you can get from the Indigo Girls music catalogue (aka lady bait), and Tamara undercharges for her services as a freelance detective. We wouldn't trade this episode for all the noodle salad in the world but we will ask is this As Good As It Gets? Yes, yes it is.

84: Anxiety Drinking Games & Foreplay with Cold Cuts: Bridesmaids Mar 21, 2023
Show notes March is still Going to the Dogs but Tamara 'fudged' a little on this week's pick with Bridesmaids, dogs are in a tiny portion of the move but it still counts! Bridesmaids has a powerhouse cast and stars Kristen Wiig as Annie, a super single, down on her luck lady who is asked to be her bestie Lillian's, played by Maya Rudolph, maid of honor. Annie's stress from the responsibility turns even the most basic bridesmaid tasks into catastrophes. In this episode: we turn Corinne's frequent anxiety over certain scenes in the movie into a drinking game, realize that this is the second rom-com movie to showcase a tennis bruise bath and pants pooping scenes and agree that friends that ride fences together, stay together. We try to squelch our discomfort by giving each other the 'love is eternal face' and if you don't know what that means, you should definitely tune in to Bridesmaids.

83: Cocaine Dogs & Dirty Talking Funnel Cake: Love To The Rescue Mar 14, 2023
Show notes It's official March Has Gone to the Dogs, and our first dog friendly movie is Love to the Rescue. It stars Nikki Deloach as Kate, a single mom who doesn't want a relationship but she does want a dog. She attempts to rescue one, only to find Eric played by Michael Rady and his son have dibs on the same one her family wants. The most implausible solution plays out while Eric and Kate find/fight their feelings for each other. In this episode: we propose that the parents should rehome their children instead of their pet, question the casting of Bruce the 'elderly' dog and turn Oatland elementary into a half dozen inexhaustible cereal jingles. March will be our most canine heavy month and we (along with Melody the pod-dog) are here for it!

    Minisode-Wrap Up: Who Won Feb-Woo No You Didn't-Uary? Mar 07, 2023
Show notes We are taking the week off but leave you with a minisode, where we recap and argue our cases on who was the best/worst character(s) in Feb-Woo No You Didn't-uary. Corinne flew to Los Angeles to visit Tamara so we could attend the marvelous Patrick Hinds book tour where we got to meet Patrick (you may know him as the hilarious half of the podcast True Crime Obsessed) and give him an ODK sticker. We hope you have a fabulous week, as fabulous as Patrick, and we will be back next week with a new theme: March is going to the dogs.

82: Pottery Spinning Environmental Warriors: She's All That Feb 28, 2023
Show notes It is the last installment of Feb-Woo No You Didn't-uary and we are ending it with a bang. This week we are covering She's All That starring (one of our favorites) Rachael Leigh Cook as Laney Boggs, a passionate art student who's largely ignored at her high school until she catches the interest of popular Zack Siler played by Freddy Prinze Jr. In this episode we discuss: the Mt. Vesuvius of hot messes, the 'super slow romantic jams' of Rick James, and how Dean played by Paul Walker (R.I.P) is such a 'mensch'. We are at odds on our feels for the Woo-ness of this movie but we do agree that She's All That is all that!
