    110: Affirmative TaTa's & Hot Stalking: Beastly Oct 17, 2023
Show notes This week we are getting up close and personal with our Supernatural & Paranormal Sweeties theme. We are covering Beastly, a modern day Beauty and the Beast tale, which stars Vanessa Hudgens as Lindsay, a teen girl who is blackmailed into staying with Kyle (aka Hunter aka Kunter) played by Alex Pettyfer, a cursed schoolmate who needs to find love or have his face permanently mutilated. In this episode: we do an in depth telling of the cupcake debacle and how it almost 'ruined' Corinne's birthday, genuinely wonder if the 'Beast's' upper nose jewelry was the result of a sneeze during a septum piercing, and debate whether blackmailing someone into a hostage friendship is better or worse than buying someones love. This isn't the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast but we still hope you will be our guest to Beastly.

109: Shower Beers & Friendship Bracelet Thongs: Just Like Heaven Oct 10, 2023
Show notes We have an amazing pick for our next Paranormal & Supernatural Sweeties theme, we are recapping the movie Just Like Heaven. It stars Reese Witherspoon as Elizabeth, a physician working hard at her residency until one day her life is cut short (or is it?) and she must rely on a 'squatter' named David, played by Mark Ruffalo to bring her back to the land of the living. In this episode we discuss: streamlined sluts in many sex-tions, wonder if the K is silent in the name Klymaxxx and Tamara asks the burning question, 'Does Corinne's rug match her silver drapes?' This modern day Snow White story (minus the witch and dwarves) had us tickled and we hope you join us this week because it's Just Like Heaven.

108: Ninja Avon Lady & Sensitive S&M Man: Edward Scissor Hands Oct 03, 2023
Show notes For our new October theme we are embracing the spooky season and recapping movies that portray Supernatural & Paranormal Sweeties. Our first film is the dark but cute romance Edward Scissorhands. It stars Johnny Depp as Edward, the unfinished creation of an eccentric inventor. Edward is thrust into society where he meets Kim played by Winona Ryder and falls instantly in love. But, theirs is an unconventional love story, mainly because Edward has scissors for hands and Kim does not. In this episode: we discuss how Johnny Depp makes bondage gear work in unexpected ways, argue whether your name on a Starbucks cup should count as a valid form of ID, and wonder what Edward's other (ahem) appendages are made out of? We are taking you all on a tour of Tim Burton land (for better or worse) to introduce you to Edward Scissorhands.

107: Saxophone Solos That Will Make Your Ears Bleed: Mystic Pizza Sep 26, 2023
Show notes It's our last installment of our Growing Pains theme and we've learned a lot with our last movie Mystic Pizza. It stars a young Julia Roberts as Daisy, Annebeth Gish plays her teenage sister Kat and Lili Taylor plays their friend Jojo. They all work in the same restaurant called Mystic Pizza and over the course of a year, experience everything from love to heartbreak in their small town. In this episode we discuss: who designated the saxophone as the 'sexy instrument' of the 80's, how you can store large amounts of condoms in big purses and gumball machines, our first recorded belch and also have a cameo from Corinne's mom who talks about the proper etiquette of babysitting and ironing (but not at the same time). This 80's coming of age flick had a slight statutory rape vibe in parts but we expected it because the 80's didn't know any better. But we loved discussing it and hope you join us for a slice of Mystic Pizza.

106: Channeling Our Inner Hair Bears - Working Girl Sep 19, 2023
Show notes This week our Growing Pains theme is going strong with a throwback movie from the 80's, Working Girl. It stars Melanie Griffith as Tess, a secretary trying to break into the finance world but no one will take her seriously, until she meets Jack, played by Harrison Ford. She finally has the opportunity to forge a huge business deal but can she close it before time and the truth come out? In this episode: we discuss how big hair in a french braid was the 80's height of restrained sophistication, how the 80's was the first 'liberated decade' where you could open up a bank account without a penis to vouch for you, and speculate on how many cease and desist letters we can get from all of Corinne's boisterous renditions of 'Let the River Run.' This episode has everything-big shouldered power suits, a surprise pee story and a lot of feels for the Working Girl.

105: A PhD in Sexual Innuendo, Also Taco Sausage: The Half of It Sep 12, 2023
Show notes We are stretching into our month of movie Growing Pains and our next selection is The Half of It. It stars Ellie Chu, played by Leah Lewis, a smart, quiet, immigrant, high school student that is struggling to keep her family afloat. Out of desperation she accepts money from Paul Munsky, played by Daniel Diemer in exchange for writing a love letter to his crush Aster Flores, played by Alexxis Lemire. This gives them both much more than they bargained for. In this episode: we find the most ODK phrase ever uttered in a movie, discuss ghost hunting with cat toys and contemplate why you'd choose Diego Rivera over Frida Khalo as your handle. This movie is a literal sausage fest (the tasty kind you eat) and we are here for it, we hope you are too and join us as we explore The Half of It.

104: Turkey Timer Nipples & Bestie Betrayal: Edge of 17 Sep 05, 2023
Show notes We are diving into a new theme for September. We are covering movies with Growing Pains. The first is one of Tam's favorites (Corinne not so much) called The Edge of 17. It stars Hailee Steinfeld as Nadine, a wallowing 17 year old who thinks the world is against her, especially when her bestie Krista, played by Haley Lu Richardson starts dating Nadine's older brother. In this episode: we have another stockings/pantyhose sighting and speculate on the purpose of the stretchy cotton fabric in the crotch, wonder if Nadine's bad haircut was the true culprit in her fathers death, and petition to change the name of bangs to fringe (like the Brits) because it makes more sense. We relive our own high school experiences in this episode and it stirs up our own growing pains but we push through them to get to The Edge of 17.

    103: Scary Tooth Fairy & Boss Ass Bitc*mas: All I Didn't Want for Christmas Aug 29, 2023
Show notes It's our last installment for Christmas in August and we're ending it with a darker (but still fabulous) Christmas comedy. This week our movie is All I Didn't Want for Christmas, it stars Gabourey Sidibe as Emily Harris, a radio producer who's a little salty on how bad her year/life is going. She sends Santa a complaint letter and the North Pole receives it and sends an elf down to try and help Emily find her Christmas Spirit before the world turns to fruitcake. In this episode: Corinne regales us with all the food she'd like to put in a tub and bathe in, we contemplate ways to keep the tooth fairy away (especially the one in this movie), and we pose the dating question 'what if that elf just isn't that into you?' Nothing says Christmas in August like a butt stuck to a chair and we will be sad to see this mid-year festive detour end but not before we explore, All I Didn't Want for Christmas.

102: 2 Weeks Notice Hallmark Style: Christmas by Starlight Aug 22, 2023
Show notes Christmas in August is the gift that keeps on giving. This week we are gifting you another Kimberley Sustad and Paul Campbell hit: Christmas by Starlight or as we call it 2 Weeks Notice-Hallmark Style. Kimberley plays Annie, a lawyer who gets sucked into working for William, played by Paul, a real estate tycoon who agrees not to tear down her family's business, as long as she pretends to work for him. In this episode: Tam's workshopping all kinds of business ideas including-Shit Storm Snowglobes, Corinne's giving her own tree decorating advice (she is anti 'just the tip), we rename the movie's party theme from Christmas Magic to Fund-Rager TM due to the lack of refreshments, and talk 'seriously' about gingerbread conservation. We are shaking the snow globe that is this episode to see if we can find some Christmas Magic and hope you join us.

101: Bonafee Pie & Scones in The Cooch: Love Actually-er (Part 2) Aug 15, 2023
Show notes This week we are bringing home the duology, Love Actually with the second part, which we are dubbing Love Actually-er. It stars all the same people with all the same story lines as last week. It is ALOT, hence the two-parter. In this episode: we create a new country, marrying France with Portugal = Francugal (where everyone speaks Frenchagese) to fill a hole in the plot, we wonder aloud if Mark is going to showcase an 'art' exhibit of Juliet wearing nothing but strategically placed santa hats and urge our audience to just say no, no, no, no,nononono to slow dancing with their bosses. We are elongating and extending the Christmas cheer this month and we hope you join us to find all the Love, Actually in this closing episode.
