    100: Ring Light for Schlongs & #GrossBestie, Love Actually Part 1 Aug 08, 2023
Show notes It's week 2 of our maiden voyage on Christmas in August AND our 100th episode! We decided to do one of the most controversial holiday movies, Love Actually, (Part 1). There's no way to succinctly condense this plot except to say: A lot of things happen to a lot of people around love during the holiday season. And that's why we broke this movie down into 2 parts. It has a stellar cast of stars including: Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth and many more. In this episode we discuss: how Corinne got swept away on a pile of WTF the first time she watched this flick, how the school nativity scene may be promoting a new Church-Of the Holy Lobster, and how Colin Frissel's character speaks sexual harassment fluently. We are doing our Christmas with a little more flavor in August and wondering aloud if 'Love, Actually is all around us?' We hope you join us to find out.

99: Ovulation Advent Calendars: An Unexpected Christmas Aug 01, 2023
Show notes It's a new month with a new theme! We are deviating from the Hallmark formula (and everyone) by doing Christmas in August. Most people do Christmas in July but we are forging our own holiday riddled path. Our first Christmas movie is: An Unexpected Christmas, starring Tyler Hynes as Jamie, a writer who's going home for Christmas to see his family, but 'forgot' to tell them that he broke up with his girlfriend Emily, played by Bethany Joy Lenz. In this episode: our dream selves get in a fight over the use (or lack of) semicolons, but we agree that taking the body of Christ would be easier if he were in a chocolate baby Jesus form, and concur that nothing says getting pregnant for the lord like inflatable lawn figures. We are counting the days on our Balsam Hill TM Ovulation Advent Calendar and hope you join us for all the joy we glean over a month that is nowhere near Christmas. But we are doing the unexpected in August, which makes An Unexpected Christmas perfect as our first movie.

    98: Rainbow Smokey Eye & Population-Cow: Hope Floats Jul 25, 2023
Show notes We are nearing the end of our Freedom Theme and this week we are covering an old favorite, Hope Floats. It stars Sandra Bullock as Birdie, a woman who is blindsided by her husband's affair. She moves back to her hometown and reunites with an old beau Justin, played by Harry Connick Jr. but things are too complicated for a new relationship, or are they? In this episode we contemplate if long forehead kisses count as 'fore-head play', wonder if bedazzled saddles as light fixtures should be a thing and accuse Oprah of trying to penetrate our minds with too many 'A-ha' moments. It's another unintentional crossover episode, which gets our temperatures rising along with this July heat. But our temperatures can keep the Hope up there company, cause we all know that Hope Floats.

97: The Boyfriend's Pecorino & Danger Stairs: Unthinkably Good Things Jul 18, 2023
Show notes In this installment of Freedom July we travel all the way to Italy with the ladies from The Hallmark Mahogany flick Unthinkably Good Things. It stars Karen Pittman as Allison, a woman who is at a crossroads in her life. She needs the love and support of her besties Melina, played by Joyful Drake, and Reesa, played by Erica Ash, who come to visit her in Italy. Unfortunately, their lives are in an upheaval all their own. In this episode: we marvel at 'cheese boyfriends' and use the word pecorino in a myriad of inappropriate ways, explore the circle of life...in bruschetta, and give marginally useful 'The More You Know' advice with some spicy topics peppered in. We are loving the Mahogany writing in this movie and are living our lives like they're golden on this journey with Unthinkably Good Things.

96: Dead Relative Urn Genies & Mullet Dresses: Dumplin' Jul 11, 2023
Show notes We're on the next installment of our Freedom theme and are bringing you one of our favorite movies, Dumplin'. It stars Danielle MacDonald as Willowdean, a teen who decides to enter her town's prestigious beauty contest even though her mother Rosie, played by Jennifer Aniston is against it annnd even though she's not the 'usual pageant girl'. Dumplin' also has a strong Dolly Parton storyline which inadvertently makes this our 2nd Dolly Parton movie in a row! In this episode: Corinne explains why Barnes and Noble may be a viable option for love if you get kicked off Tinder, we explore pageant fashion (like Rosie's hermetically sealed pageant dress vs. her other dress which looks like a wet dream from Elvis's Graceland) and propose that Dolly Parton is not just a person, she is a state of mind. We agree with the premise of this movie 'that everybody is a bathing suit body' so we hope all you sun-funning beauties join us for Dumplin'.

    95: Pussy Bows & Resting Bitch Face Perfection: 9 to 5 Jul 04, 2023
Show notes We're Baaaaack with a bang and fresh from our month off! This month our theme is Freedom and we're showcasing movies where the protagonist's forge their own paths. Our first movie is the star studded 9 to 5. It stars Lily Tomlin as Violet, an overworked, underappreciated employee at Consolidated Inc. Her co-workers Judy played by Jane Fonda and Doralee played by Dolly Parton are equally used and abused until one day the fates smile down upon them. In this episode we discover the definition of pussy bows, speculate about what Consolidated Inc. stores in their warehouse (top 2 picks: Moby Dick books or dildos shaped like various animals), and do a Kimono watch on the sassy Violet (does her kimono have a deeper meaning!?!?) This movie doesn't have a lot of 'Rom' but it makes up for it with the 'Com'. We poured ourselves a cup of ambition with this gem and hope you punch the time clock with us as we do 9 to 5.

    94: Turning 13 is a Scam & Appetite Aphrodisiac: 13 Going On 30 May 30, 2023
Show notes We are at our last installment of 'Is it A-May-zing or a May-ess' and we have a great ending with the movie 13 going on 30. It stars Jennifer Garner as Jenna Rink, a 13 year old who makes a wish and wakes up as a 30 year old. She seeks help from her childhood bestie Matt played by Mark Ruffalo but finds out her adulthood is not what she thought it would be. In this episode we reminisce about our bad school photo experiences, declare that glitter is the 'herpes of the craft world' and argue the merits of manageable boobs. We want to give another reminder that we are taking June off for a little family time (We Miss You Bridget!) and for Tam's fourteeny-seventh birthday. But we will be back, the first Tuesday in July and will miss all of our gentle listeners in the meantime.

93: He Gives Good Stare & Bro Bubbles: Twilight May 23, 2023
Show notes We are nearing the end of: Is This Movie A-May-Zing or Awful, and we have another banter filled banger of an episode. We are covering Twilight: Is this movie a comedy-no, Is this movie a romance-that's up for debate, but this movie does star Kristen Stewart as Bella, a teenager who moves to a small town and falls in love with a vampire named Edward, played by Robert Pattinson. In this episode: Tamara explains how she will MacGyver a beer bong together (using only a baseball hat, shoelaces and ziplock bags), Corinne gives us the 'stare-o-meter' to rate all the stare porn in this film, and we ponder if Edward is constantly grimacing because his 'vegetarian' vampire diet gives him IBS. All the laughing we did in this episode sucked us dry. We will replenish our strength starting in June when we take a month break but in the meantime we hope you listen and stare at Twilight with us.

92: Ripple Lip Burps & Renovation Porn: All of My Heart May 16, 2023
Show notes It's our Hallmark installment of: is this movie A-May-Zing or a May-ess, and we are doing the fan favorite All of My Heart. It stars Lacey Chabert as Jenny a young woman who inherits half of a house, the other half is owned by Brian played by Brennan Elliott, a stranger. Due to unforeseen circumstances, they are forced to live together and we can't imagine what's going to happen. In this episode: Tamara realizes that we are 'all full up on the big hair front', Corinne gets peeved at the names (or lack thereof) in the movie, and we learn the important definition of Bimmer and share it with you all (you're welcome). We love a good Lacey Chabert movie and give it 2 drills of approval but to find out our dry kiss rating you'll have to tune it to our recap of All of My Heart.

91: Clucking Macarena & Sympathetic Frizz: Notting Hill May 09, 2023
Show notes It's our next episode of: is this movie A-May-Zing or a May-ess? We are doing Notting Hill and will 'fight to the death' over our decision of whether it's great or terrible. It stars Hugh Grant as William Thacker, a resident of Notting Hill who falls for Anna Scott, played by Julia Roberts, a movie star who shows up at his travel book shop. In this episode: we contemplate about horses in space and turkey's in travel books about Turkey, give a PSA about the dangers of sneezing with a bodysuit on and describe Corinne's ass-tributes which are so ample she doesn't need a petticoat (so we dub her backside a butticoat). Travel with us to Notting Hill and give your opinions on whether this movie is fantastic or a flop (even though it would have been vastly improved by Tamara's alternate bench ending).
