72: Hip Hop Booty & A Marilyn Monroe Poncho: Hocus Pocus

Show notes
We are very excited about this week's Spooktacular episode, we are doing the Disney classic Hocus Pocus, it stars: Bette Midler as Winifred Sanderson, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson and Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson, three sisters/witches who are brought back to life, by an unsuspecting trio of kids and wreak havoc on Halloween night . In this episode we ponder if there is a S.O.S (sucker of souls) offender list the witches should be on, explain the progression of a 'half ass' Halloween costume and argue whether our group of protagonists should be called DAMT or DAMB. This movie didn't make us want to be a Sanderson sister but we did enjoy the magic in Hocus Pocus.
71: Here For The Bottom, Not For The Top: Twitches

It's our Spooktacular month of October and this movie doesn't have much Rom or Com but it's full of magic because we are covering Twitches. This Disney movie stars Tia Mowry-Hardrict as Alex and Tamara Mowry-Housley as Camryn, two twin sisters separated at birth who are reunited on their 21st birthdays only to realize they are witches (yay!) and also marked for death (crap!). In this episode Tamara realizes why it's a bad idea to subsidize traveling with slot machines, Corinne brings her sultry and southern flavor to her story retelling and both ponder why they weren't together in the short lived 'McMansion era'. You may be wondering if you should pass on this one because it's light in the love department but we'll say 'Twitch Please!' because there is love (not the romantical kind) and lot's of fun in Twitches.
70: Congratulations You Have Won A Spoon: Practical Magic
Oct 04, 2022
Show notes
This is the first installment in our Spooktacular month of October, we are doing all spooky (but not too spooky) movies. This week we are taking it back to the 90's with Practical Magic starring Sandra Bullock as Sally and Nicole Kidman as Gillian. Sally and Gillian are sisters who come from a family of witches. Unfortunately, they are also cursed, any man that falls in love with them is doomed to die, but two men enter Sally & Gillian's lives and both will change everything. In this episode we discourage each other from dying because it would seriously interfere with the podcast, contemplate if bringing people back from the dead is a bad idea (Tam is for it, Corinne is against it), invent some words like: meth-urder and argue about who will be poking who in the face during our New York trip. We are giving it our all in this episode and have a spectacular time discussing Practical Magic. Episode drops October 4th. |

It is our last installment of September to Remember and we are covering one of our favorites: 2 Weeks Notice, starring Sandra Bullock as Lucy Kelson and Hugh Grant as George Wade. Lucy is an activist and attorney who tries to thwart George's real estate company from peppering the city with expensive high rise buildings. Instead, he offers her a job and they form a relationship neither of them expected. In this episode we discuss how George is an HR liability waiting to happen, ponder if Lucy had an eating disorder (seriously did she?), and give spectacular advice like putting your phone on vibrate and in your underpants for some added enjoyment to your day. We are broadcasting from the pee pee closet which stinks (a little) but this episode doesn't and we hope you agree
68: Gyros for Heroes: Isn't it Romantic

This week we are squarely in September to Remember with a hilarious romantic comedy: Isn't it Romantic. This flick stars Rebel Wilson as Natalie, a thankless architect who gets stuck in a rom-com world where she must choose between her bestie Josh, played by Adam Devine and Blake, played by Liam Hemsworth. This week we explore: boxed wine ice cream floats, trapper keeper sized clutch purses, why Corinne's ba-donk keeps da-donking and how this movie's sexiest scene occurs while someone is getting the heimlich maneuver. It gets hot in this episode but we'll keep cool with our questionably procured AC unit and ponder: Isn't it Romantic.

We hope you are enjoying our September to Remember month, aka the countdown to our Bestie trip to New York City. This week we are doing Set It Up starring Zoey Deutch as Harper an executive assistant who works ridiculous hours for her demanding boss, until she meets Charlie played by Glen Powell and they both conspire to set their bosses up to get some much needed down time. In this episode: we marvel at Lucy Liu’s cheekbones (that are so sharp they can cut glass),give the ground rules for the Korean BBQ relationship test and contemplate how men who are ‘unicorns' are frequently actually ‘narwhals'. We made some love connections this week and hope you enjoy the way we Set it Up.

They have an instant connection but are involved with other people, circumstances cause them to part ways but they always think of 'what if ',until the day they try to find each other again. In this episode we discuss: how frozen hot chocolate is a shame and a lie, what to do if you find a severed finger in your 'glove of love' and the price of Hermes ties and rooms at the Waldorf Astoria. We will not be buying either but will be exploring everything else Serendipity has to offer and hope fate allows you to join us. Episode drops September 6th.

We are finally at the end of our Au-Gust of change month and we are going out with a bang. This week we are doing Two Tickets to Paradise starring Ashley Williams as Hannah Holt and Ryan Paevey as Josh Wyatt. Two strangers get left at the altar and jointly decide to go on their respective honeymoons, where they keep running into each other. In this episode we discuss the wonders of dandruff shampoo, how viable a career as a three legged race instructor would be and how ORG should stand for an ORGanism that ORGanizes ORGies with ORigami. This episode is so song heavy it might as well be a musical but we hope you join us for Two Tickets to Paradise...pack your bags!
64: Lawn Recon & Pork Swords: Juno

The Au-Gusts keep coming this month and we are so excited to revisit a movie we first saw together in theaters. This week we are doing Juno which has a stellar cast including Elliot Page (as Ellen Page) as Juno and Michael Cera as Paulie Bleeker. Juno, a 16 year old, gets pregnant by her crush Paulie and has to navigate the choices she must make for herself and the baby. It may not sound like it but this movie is a hoot and we discuss: what it would look like if we only did movies about guys named Mark (would the Hallmark title still work?), how Richard Simmons and Tony Little should be friends and have their own fanfiction, and how Corinne can read but for some reason can't say the word Leah. We are pregnant with feelings over this movie and hope you join us as we give birth to this episode.
63: Standing Up For Pauls & Not a Botticelli Chick: Clueless
Aug 16, 2022
Show notes
The Au-Gusts of change keep coming in August. Our next movie is no different, we are doing Clueless: starring Alicia Silverstone as Cher and Paul Rudd as Josh. Cher is a 'typical' rich Beverly Hills teen, until a string of events cause her to question her morals and her feelings for her step brother Josh. In this movie we discuss how Tamara's life resembles a telenovela, the lasting power of Pauly Shore movies (hint, there isn't any) and discuss a very important PSA from Mr. Paul Campbell, himself. We enjoyed taking it back to the 90's and hope you join us as we discuss how Clueless we all were back then.
