286: Setting Boundaries in Your Intuitive Eating Journey Aug 10, 2021
    Show notes

"You've gained weight, are you pregnant?" I will never forget the moment when a co-worker said this to me so casually as she passed me in the parking lot.

I wasn't pregnant. I had been gaining weight because I was healing my relationship with food. And at that time in my life, I was *deeply* uncomfortable with it. I can't remember what I said back to her but I do remember going to my car and crying about it.

I can't help but wonder if I had understood how to stand up for myself and had clear boundaries about what was allowed to be said to me, how that conversation might have changed.

So in today's episode I am going to give you some examples of setting boundaries in hopes it helps you continue in your intuitive eating journey.

So much of what will help in the intuitive eating journey is provided in our program, Food and Body Peace Playbook, a step by step guide for how to make peace with food, respect your body and live wellness without obsession.

Did you know? The more a child hears their own mother talk negatively about their body, the more they are to dislike their own bodies and try weight loss techniques, even as young as ages 4-6.

What if you could help your child learn that their body never needs to be fixed, that it is enough exactly as it is? In today's episode you learn 7 ways you can help your children to have better body image.

Her children are young, but she feels at ease knowing she is modeling body respect to her children.

278: Understanding the Gut Brain Axis Jul 13, 2021
    Show notes

Did you know that…food is not always the cause of your GI symptoms? In fact, sometimes it has nothing to do with food and everything to do with your thoughts around the food. Today we are going to explore why this may be through a conversation on the gut brain axis.

I want to thank Marci Evans for her recent workshop that inspired this episode and is the reference for most of what I'll share in this episode.

The brain is involved in so much aspects of your health. From how the digestive response is impacted by the gut brain axis, to how body image work is brain work, to even how the hypothalamus, the control center of your brain, is the reason your period can shut down if you are undereating and overexercising...it is TRULY fascinating to think about how our brain is involved in so much of what we think and feel and believe on a daily basis and how this may impact our health.

In this episode we dig in to the link of disordered eating and the digestive system and GI symptoms you may be experiencing through understanding the connection of your gut brain axis.
