34. Bonus Episode - Pilot - Cruel Intentions Jan 26, 2020

Show notes

It's our first bonus episode! We dug up our experiment pilot to see if this project would even work. Spoiler Alert - it worked - so we dusted off this gem for your listening pleasure. We watched Cruel Intentions from 1999 and we're still obsessed with Ryan Phillippe's buns. Sarah Michelle Gellar is serving up some fierce be-otch realness and we discuss the legend of production hiding Reese's pieces (was she really knocked up during production?).

We'll be back with fresh episodes for Season 2 really soon! Thanks for hanging in there and as always, don't forget to subscribe, rate and review us on iTunes!

33. Blue Lagoon with special guest Braden Davis Jan 03, 2020

Show notes

We made it through a whole season of gay as hell movies and our finale is a doozy! We're joined by the very funny Braden Davis so watch the 1980 classic Blue Lagoon. You guys, this movie is bananas! If you're not familiar with this movie - I'll sum it up in 2 words: Full. Frontal. Two beautiful teens are marooned on a tropical island and much male nudity ensues. We tell tales of watching this movie as kids surrounded by our family and definitely feeling some type of way. Brooke Shields is lovely as always but Christopher Atkins - no words. Do yourself a favor and stream this movie today!

Thanks for listening to Season 1 of Movies That Made Us Gay! We'll be back before you know it with fresh episodes reviewing new movies that had a major impact on our little gay boy minds! Don't forget to subscribe, rate and review us on iTunes!

32. Smokey Mountain Christmas with special guest Mitchell Ralston Dec 20, 2019

Show notes

Our Christmas series continues as we welcome good friend Mitch Ralston to watch the Dolly Parton classic A Smokey Mountain Christmas. Dolly plays a Country star escaping to the Smokies to spend Christmas with nothing but her guitar and some squirrel stew but a ragtag group of squatting orphans, the horny local sheriff and a mountain witch have other plans. Along the way Dolly runs afoul of Lee Majors doing his best Grizzly Adams impression and there's even a last-minute cameo from the late great John Ritter. Sadly, Dolly's final showdown with Witchy Woman Jezebel doesn't include lightning bolts from Dolly's acrylics, but it's satisfying nonetheless.

Horny Barb (Margot Kidder) and mousy Phyl (Andrea Martin) round out the sorority sisters under the care of boozy house mother Mrs. Mac (Marian Waldman). We talk 70's fashion, the beginnings of the slasher film genre and get some serious insider tea on The Boulet Brothers' Dragula (now streaming on Netflix!).

28. Sister Act with special guest Joshua Clement Nov 22, 2019

Show notes

Sister Mary Clarence - like Clarence Williams III from the Mod Squad? Fellow film maniac Joshua Clement dropped in to watch Sister Act (1992) and we're still practicing the choreo (give 'em a little shoulder action). We know Dolores Van Cartier is supposed to be tacky but what we wouldn't give for a real purple mink - even if it belonged to someone else's wife! Whoopi conducted these little old white ladies dressed as nuns into a real gospel choir and gay (and straight) children of the world rejoiced. We're willing to look past the betrayel of Sister Mary Robert (Wendy Makkena) LIPSYNCING (gay gasp!) because this movie is legit and all of our VHS copies are worn out! Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimi, Jenifer Lewis and the ICON Mary Wickes round out the powerhouse cast.

27. Chasing Amy with special guest Amber Shaw Nov 15, 2019

Show notes

Nothing says LGBT Ally like a straight-cis-white-male writing a dialogue for a lesbian. We're joined by #friendofthepod Amber Shaw to watch Chasing Amy (1997) and we have some thoughts. Does this quaint tale of sexual politics in the mid 90's hold up to todays "woke" standards? It does not. Is naming your two male leads after Catcher In The Rye characters pretentious? Possibly. Some of the jokes hold up, some of them don't - it was simpler times! It's episode 27 of Movies That Made Us Gay!

Bored social worker Nina (Jennifer Aniston) falls for her equally boring GBF George (Rudd). Nina gets knocked up by her boring boyfriend but wants to raise the baby with George cause she's still thirsty for that forbidden D.
