23. Bram Stoker's Dracula with special guest Sammy Smart Oct 18, 2019

Show notes

Love isn't the only thing that never dies, bad English accents are forever. We sat down with Sammy Smart (Too Scary; Didn't Watch) to watch Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992). A horror movie filled to the brim with corseted beauties, hunky heroes and titillating semi-nudity - It's almost as if this movie were made for preteen gay boys to watch under the cover of night. We choose our favorite Hollywood hunk (Keanu 4Lyfe), point out which sex scenes still make us uncomfortable to this day and spend way too much time talking about the costumes. What exactly is the circumference of Wino's waistline in that corset and bustle? Find out in Episode 23 of Movies That Made Us Gay!

22. Hocus Pocus with special guest Allison Levitan Oct 11, 2019

Show notes

It's been 300 years, right down to the day… and we're finally getting around to watching Hocus Pocus (1993). We sat down with #friendofthepod Allison Levitan to talk about this high-camp fantasy starring our Queen Bette Midler. This movie has united a generation of Millenials through campy songs, Hot Topic fashion and pre-Drag Race era makeup contouring. Gays and straight (girls) alike unite through joint love of this Halloween mainstay, hatred of children and devotion to the master himself - Satan… I mean Garry Marshall. Happy Halloween!!

21. The Witches with special guests Ashley & Lauren from Keep It Weird Oct 04, 2019

Show notes

Hello boys and ghouls. It's October and that means spooky movies! We're joined by Ashley & Lauren from Keep it Weird (@keepitweirdcast) for a crossover special extravaganza!! We watched The Witches (1990) and Anjelica Huston is our new idol. Roald Dahl's tale of Real witches and the quest to exterminate the children of England by transforming them into mice has got us thinking - maybe these ladies are on to something. The Grand High Witch (Huston) is seething with glamour, high camp and just enough sex appeal to make us stalk around the apartment screaming VITCHES VORK ONLY VIS MAGICK! Check back every friday - all episodes in the month of October will feature a new spooky, ooky, kooky movie for your listening pleasure.

20. Never Been Kissed with special guests Jessica Granger and Amy Fox Sep 27, 2019

Show notes

We took our show on the road and met up with hometown friends Jessica Granger and Amy Fox to review the 1999 Drew Barrymore classic Never Been Kissed. From the wilds of Montana we talk about the first ever Flower Films production and its impact on the gayification of our two guests. Like Clueless before it, this film is peppered with future has-beens and a couple of also-rans but it bears the distinction of having future Oscar winner and multi-nominee Octavia Spencer in the role of "Sun-Times Worker." Listen with us as we answer the deep questions like "What is Molly Shannon's job" and "Is Guy (Jeremy Jordan) actually hot?" on Episode 20 of Movies That Made Us Gay!

19. Yentl with special guest Matt Emert Sep 20, 2019

Show notes

It's our first foray into Barbra territory and Matt Emert (@mattybrooks116) was our guide as we navigated our way through Yentl (1983). Not only our introduction to Babs on film but more importantly - Mandy Patinkin's heinie. Barbra herself starred, directed and produced this "film with music" about a Jewish girl who disguises herself as a boy to enter religious training. Along the way Yentl meets and falls for the super-fine Avigdor (Patinkin), MARRIES the naive Haddas (Amy Irving) and talk-sings (but somehow still belts) her way through every song on the soundtrack. Through it all Yentl somehow manages to keep her secret while I would have risked it all after that infamous skinny dipping adventure. It's episode 19 of Movies That Made Us Gay!

18. Summer School with special guest Jacob Carillo Sep 13, 2019

Show notes

Summer may be winding down but that didn't stop us from watching Summer School with our friend Jacob Carillo (@ralphmustachio). Fresh off the 1986 Sexiest Man Alive cover, Mark Harmon is here to prove why 33 years later he is still flooding the basements of CBS viewers across the nation. Mr. Shoop is the man-child Remedial English teacher to a rag-tag group of juvenile delinquents that includes a duo of horny special effects makeup wizards, a horny yet introspective surfer girl and a horny underage male stripper. And we can't forget the buttoned up, yet secretly horny for Mr. Shoop, history teacher Ms. Bishop played by the foxy Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty) Alley. Get ready for beach volleyball, male strip clubs and Mark Harmon rollerskating shirtless on the beach - it's episode 18 of Movies That Made Us Gay.

17. Drop Dead Gorgeous with special guest Lauren Ogle Sep 06, 2019

Show notes

Are we on Cops again? Not this time - but we are joined by our most smartest friend of the pod Lauren Ogle (Keep It Weird) to watch the 1999 classic Drop Dead Gorgeous! Get ready for all three of us to attempt to pull off a Minnesota accent and pretty much spend the entire episode quoting this movie. We spend a lot of time gushing over how this movie is perfectly cast - we stan Kiki Dunst - and stand by our claim that this "mockumentary" is just as good as anything from Christopher Guest and company (fight us). We are officially Pageant Kweens and there ain't nothing wrong with that. Dust off your plaid culottes, and go pick me up a pack of smokes - it's Episode 17 of Movies That Made Us Gay! Buy American.

16. Big Business with special guest Carla Yacenda Aug 30, 2019

Show notes

Scott and Pete welcome the lovely Carla Yacenda to discuss the Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin 1980's classic Big Business and we're all seeing double! Highfalutin Rose and Sadie Shelton are scheming to strip mine Jupiter Hollow while hay-seeds Rose and Sadie Ratliff are on a crusade to save their town. Hijinks ensue including mistaken identity, sexual espionage and a yodeling Bette Midler. This movie has everything a little gay boy wants in life - impeccably dressed powerful women, gaudy dressed funny women, obvious gay characters who's sexuality totally went over our heads, luxury hotels, the (false) idea of making hundreds of dollars for getting good grades and MTMUG all-star Mary Gross.

15. Adventures In Babysitting with special guest Hiko Mitsuzuka Aug 23, 2019

Show notes

We invited the very funny Hiko Mitsuzuka to sit in with us as we continue our streak of babysitter themed movies and watched the 1987 sleepover mainstay Adventures in Babysitting! We stan Elisabeth Shue super hard and it all started with her epic performance in this movie. We analyze Penelope Anne Miller's influence on todays 80's retro fashion (is Brenda the proto-Barb?). We pick up on some latent homo leanings from Daryl (Anthony Rapp) and we welcome with open arms Keith Coogan into the pantheon of Movies That Made Us Gay All Stars! Buckle up and most definitely, do NOT Eff with the Babysitter! It's Episode 15 of Movies That Made Us Gay!
