Late Night Pep Talk: Discounts Nov 27, 2023
    Show notes

We've all been bombarded with ads, social media marketing, and emails for the past week that are ALL about big sales and discounts. On today's episode, we discuss the things we allow to be discounted in our own lives and the impact that has on us as moms. I have 5 areas of your life that I want to remind you are NOT worth discounting.
In a world driven by marketing and (let's be honest) manipulation, decide to be a mom that doesn't offer discounts, isn't willing to cut corners on the important things, and knows her value. Be a mom who keeps the important things the important things and knows they come at a price...a price they deserve.
This road isn't easy. There will always be people and things trying to sell you on less than you're worth, less than you deserve.
You're exactly where you're supposed to be, doing what you're supposed to be doing, and you're doing an amazing job at it. Don't miss out on today's pep talk to help you regain control of your life in this crazy holiday season.

Late Night Pep Talk: Alignment Nov 20, 2023
    Show notes

The chaos of this season is only beginning and will continue until the end of the year. Therefore, it's so important that we all reconsider our priorities. Because if you try to make everything the most important thing at once, you will drown from now until at least December 26th.
On today's episode, we reassess what you say your top priorities are vs. the way you spend your time. Does the way you spend your time reflect what you say is most important? Often...it doesn't.
We end up feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and burnt out because you're trying to make everything a priority when everything can't be a priority all at once.
Once you clarify your goal and the goal of your family unit, it becomes easier to decide what the priorities are. And it's easier for you to determine if the ways you're investing your VERY precious and limited time are actually in alignment with your goals.
As moms, we have to be more assertive and protect our peace stronger than ever, considering the demands and expectations placed on us in today's society. You can't be afraid to say "no, sorry that doesn't align with our goals right now."
You were designed perfectly for this role and for your children. Make decisions that feel right to you and don't feel one bit guilty for them.

Some days it takes all we've got in us to simply check the necessities off of our to do list. It can seem impossible to make time to take care of ourselves as moms. Today's episode is ALL about letting go of our unrealistic expectations and finding small ways to show up as our best selves along this journey. And I have an incredible guest joining me for the conversation!

Late Night Pep Talk: Permission to Dream Nov 13, 2023
    Show notes

Why do we, as moms, feel like we need permission to chase dreams outside of our motherhood roles? Mama, you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Cheesy? Maybe. But true.
The reason we often think our dreams aren't possible is because they take longer to come to life than we expect.
So we settle. And try to convince ourselves that we should just be happy with what we have, where we are.
Every one of you that listens to this podcast craves something different. On this episode, I provide you with 5 action steps you can take to making those dreams a reality. I'll never promise you it's going to happen as an overnight success, and often it doesn't, but you can begin to stack one small win after another that slowly brings your vision to life.
You don't have to be anything that anyone tells you to be. And you don't have to be just a mom, either. But you do have to be a dreamer, and I'm giving you permission to dream BIG.
Dream up the life that you know you AND your children deserve and then go make it happen.
It might sound crazy, but I believe in you.

    Show notes

    Brenda Batista, SLP
    @tiny.talkers.speech
In another incredible interview on the Moms Working Overtime Podcast, I have the opportunity to bring you speech therapist and homeschooling mom of four, Brenda Batista.
Brenda shares tons of great tips for recognizing developmental delays in speech and language, how to use strategies in your day-to-day activities with your children to improve their language development, how to choose toys that support language development, and utilizing screen time in the best way possible.
As moms, the last thing we need is another task on our list that we feel we have to set aside time for with our children. In this episode, you'll learn simple things you can implement into what you're ALREADY doing that can help your child's processing and language development - meaning NO extras, NO more tasks, NO pressure.
We never want a mom to leave this podcast with unrealistic expectations or feeling like she's falling short. I love Brenda's approach to helping us recognize small ways we can show up better, but that it's OKAY to utilize things like screens sometimes because we need a moment to breathe. There are so many valuable pieces of information jam packed in just one hour of listening.

Late Night Pep Talk: Time / In Memory of Megan Nov 06, 2023
    Show notes

    In memory of Megan Pridemore
    1992 - 2023
There's one guarantee in this life that's for certain - we all are going to reach the end of it at some point. Eventually, we all run out of time.
How many of us live each and every day with the understanding that they actually aren't guaranteed?
As moms, we each fight battles that others may know nothing about. But the greatest gift given to us is time, if we choose to see it that way. Perspective is such a powerful thing and today's pep talk helps you reframe your view of the time you're given when you wake up each day.
Ways to shift your focus from "have to" to " get to."
Because when we really take the time to stop and think about it, we've won the lottery of life.
Choose to wake up and view each and every day as a gift, seeing the small things as the big things.
    Because motherhood is a privilege.
The time we get with our children, on this Earth, is a privilege.
    Don't take it for granted.

Receiving a Critical Diagnosis in Utero with Ashley Stone Nov 02, 2023
    Show notes

Ashley showed up for her 20 week anatomy scan ultrasound just like any other mom - excited to see her sweet baby on the screen and to walk away with some photos to show off to family and friends. But her excitement was quickly disrupted with an in utero diagnosis.
Ashley's daughter presented with a heart defect formally known as Tetraology of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia. This led to many moments of panic, anxiety, and worry, referral to follow-up visits with specialists, big decisions, and a completely different pregnancy and delivery experience than Ashley ever imagined for herself.
In this podcast, we dive into the importance of advocating for yourself or your child any time a diagnosis is received, strategies for handling unexpected diagnosis, and navigating parenthood when your child has a diagnosis.
You won't want to miss hearing Ashley's story and I know, as moms, we need the reminder to relinquish control sometimes...to let go of expectations...and to live without letting our challenges define us.

Late Night Pep Talk: Setting Boundaries Oct 30, 2023
    Show notes

The holiday season is officially upon us with Halloween being this week!
As much as some of us might love this season and know we should find the joy and excitement in it, there are also lots of reasons moms dread this season - finances, split families, loss of a loved one, over scheduled calendars, and battling with family members to figure out how to make it all work...all at once.
We almost need a "let's take a second and remind ourselves what these holidays are really about" moment as moms.
In this episode, I talk about setting boundaries and give you some reassurance as you head into the chaos of holiday #1 and plan ahead for what's to come. There's three big reassurances I share when it comes to setting boundaries.
We, as moms, allow too many people, social media accounts, and societal expectations to pressure us into making decisions that don't feel right for our family. Why do we do this? We're not here, on this Earth, in this chapter, to please or appease others with our parenting.
We're here to raise good children.
    To protect them.
    To nurture them.
    To ENJOY them.
We have to be intentional about enjoying this season with our children because we don't get a redo.

Fostering a Self-Paced Learning Environment Through Homeschooling with Ashley Rodriguez Oct 26, 2023
    Show notes

In today's episode, I have the opportunity to interview my dear friend, Ashley, a mom of three, about all things homeschooling. Ashley has such a great perspective to share because she taught in the public school system for years prior to making a career change, eventually deciding to stay home with her children full-time to homeschool them.
This is a decision we know lots of mothers battle with and it's not something to take lightly! Ashley shares her story to provide insight into the homeschooling process, comparisons of homeschooling to the public school system, resources she uses to provide her children with the best possible experience, and considerations for mamas who are on the fence about homeschooling.
Homeschooling can be an incredible way to facilitate your child's learning in a way that makes the most sense for them. Even if you decide to homeschool multiple children, Ashley talks about how you can customize the experience for each of them in different ways. Plus, she debunks the worry that so many parents have about their children missing out on socialization if they choose this path!

Late Night Pep Talk: Gratitude Oct 23, 2023
    Show notes

It's pretty incredible how powerful daily gratitude can be when you're in the trenches of it all. This episode is for my mamas who have been having some hard days, maybe some hard weeks, shoot, maybe a hard year.
As moms, we juggle so many things in each 24 hour period. It can feel so daunting, overwhelming, exhausting, even frustrating. It's easy to slip into a negative mindset and set up camp there. And each of those feelings are completely valid when you consider all of the things a mom does.
A powerful way to combat these feelings of burnout that result from our busy day-to-day is by simply writing down 3 things we're grateful for. Daily.
When we stare at our blessings on paper, it helps us, day by day, to pull ourselves out of the negative mindset we're in.
It's a small effort that can make a huge impact. Because what you once felt like you had to force, this perspective shift, will suddenly become second nature. You'll begin to shift your thought process before you even register what's happening.
Mama, I know this season is hard. I know you feel exhausted. I know you're overwhelmed.
But we are also so incredibly lucky to bear the weight of these things.
You were perfectly designed for and placed in this role. You are here because no one is a better mom for your children than you are. Let me show you how gratitude can help you remember this when the days feel heavy.
