Healing the “Not Enough” Wound With These 5 Reframes Feb 28, 2018
    Show notes

Episode 193: "Not enoughness" is an epidemic. Every single day, women and men hold themselves back from speaking up, taking risks, living out their truth and so much more because they don't feel like enough. A few common examples include...

If only I had THIS (fill in the blank with something you believe you are lacking), then I would be able to date that kind of person.

If only I looked like THAT (fill in the blank with some body standard), then I would be able to wear those outfits.

If only I had HER level of success, then I would be able to say I've really "made" it.

If only I had HIS ideas, I would be able to accomplish so much more in this lifetime.

Many times our made-up beliefs around not being "enough" come from comparisons, but they also come from feelings of worthiness, our stories around failure/rejection and our fear of not being accepted into society if we show our true colors. Today on the Mind Body Musings Podcast I'm going to share some reframes around these beliefs.

    • Reframe #1: Moving from "rejection" to "ejection"
      • Rejection is simply someone ejecting themselves from the realm of possibility in your life
    • Reframe #2: Moving from the pressure to do something different (to feel important) to realizing the power of being different
    • You are loved for who you are, not what you do.
    • You will never feel enough by doing more because the bar will continue to raise. If adopting a hyper masculine attitude isn't working for you, try a different approach. Adopt the mentality that you don't have to prove your worthiness because you already embody it.
    • Reframe #3: Moving from "How will they take this?" to "How can I create this?"
      • It is not your job to tell people how they are supposed to interpret you
      • Listen to THIS episode with JP Sears to learn more about this from a well-known youtube star
      • Stop trying to make everyone comfortable around you. You are doing people a disservice if you never allow them to feel triggered in your presence.
    • If people feel triggered around you it is because they are seeing something within you that they can't stand within themselves
    • Reframe #4: Moving from "Will they accept me?" to "How can I accept them?"
    • Reframe #5: Moving from "I hate XX about myself" to "XX is absolutely a part of me"

6 Ways to Connect with Anyone Quickly and Deeply Jan 31, 2018
    Show notes

Episode 189: Many people think they are connecting with others in a conversation, but oftentimes we fill our time with stories about ourselves while crossing our arms, diverting eye contact and forgetting names. Are you craving real, deep connection? Are you waiting for someone else to do it for you? This is where you can start.

This podcast is going to teach you how to begin to create authentic connection with ANYONE. You can create connection with the cashier at Target, the barista at Pete's Coffee or the person next to you on their yoga mat.

I encourage you to stop waiting for "The One" in order to feel connected. Stop waiting for your soulmate BFF in order to feel intimacy in friendship. Creating connection with the world might be one of the most valuable skills you can ever learn.

I definitely think this is an episode you'll want to take some notes on (and please, if you do the challenges I mention, let me know how they go!)

    Show Notes:

    • Say their name back to them / remember their name

      • If you struggle to know how to communicate with someone…just look at their eyes. By doing so, you’ll learn which sense they favor and will know how to speak their language.
    • Ask thoughtful questions about what they are speaking about
      • We think we are connecting to people when we say “me too!” and go on to share our own story, but what we’re really doing is disconnecting
      • Show legitimate interest in their life / background story

What to Do When You Failed At Something You Cared About Jan 24, 2018
    Show notes

Episode 188: I work with a great deal of exceptional women doing incredible things on this planet. They're dating, raising babies, starting online businesses, making new friends, moving across the country, being vulnerable and/or re-evaluating the course of their life (all of those things are equally brave and amazing). Even still, they find themselves falling into the comparison trap when they look at what their peers are up to. I speak with women every day who are brave enough to go after their biggest dreams...and are still met with debilitating, identity-shattering failure.

What do you do when you find yourself "failing" at the projects, quests and dreams you've had your heart set on?

What do you do when you find yourself paralyzed after comparing yourself to your peers and their great deal of accomplishments?

This podcast goes out to all the perfectionists, dreamers and doers out there who want to come to peace with where they are in life and even learn how to enjoy the journey more.

    Show notes:

    • What happens when you fail at something your identity is intertwined in
    • “No experience is ever wasted if you learned something”
    • How happiness is different from joy
    • Diving deep into a question asked by a woman in my FB Tribe: "I failed my bar exams for the second time while I worked really hard to succeed. It made me feel so bad about myself like I can't achieve anything at all. I decided to pass it again. But my morale is very low. I can't stop comparing myself to others who in my eyes have already succeeded much more."
    • When your identity is intertwined with your accomplishments, your life is essentially on pause until the accomplishment happens. (and then paused again until you've achieved your next desired accomplishment)
    • "Have unshakeable grace"- Yashoda
    • Why you never want to measure your life as a success by using a metric that is out of your own control
    • Some amazing lessons on failure from Abe Lincoln here
    • How to know if you're failing because you're meant for a different path...or you're failing but need to persevere on the same journey

Connection vs. Attachment (what's the difference?) Jan 10, 2018
    Show notes

Episode 186: Have you ever found yourself attached to a person you were in a relationship with, even though you saw red flags and way too many warning signs? Ever felt attached to a particular job or a role in life that you felt recognized for? Have you ever been attached to a moment so much that you weren't even present during it?

Attachment has the power to completely take us away from the present. It keeps us either in the past or the future, longing for things to be final or permanent. Connection, on the other hands, makes room for the unexpected. Connection is intimate, synced, vulnerable and present.

While you may not know this, connection and attachment are reflections of your self-worth. If you're attached to everything, you may struggle with your valuing your own being, though if you allow room for connection and play, you feel your self-worth at a much higher level.

What do I mean by this? Listen to today's podcast episode to get the inside scoop.

If you really enjoy what you hear, download/print the free graphic on the show notes displaying the key differences between attachment and connection. Keep it in your journal for safe-keeping, or hang it up in your bathroom! Learning the difference between connection and attachment will drastically change your life-- I know it has for me.

Jason Nemer: What AcroYoga Can Teach You About Play, Connection and Love Jan 03, 2018
    Show notes

Episode 185: Jason Nemer is the co-founder of AcroYoga. He has been blessed to have many great teachers on his path. His family was always very supportive of his many passions. His younger brother brought him into gymnastics and from there he found acrobats playing at the gym and was hooked on both. During his teenage years he trained with some of the top Russian and Bulgarian acrobatic masters. Competing among the best acrobats in the world inspired his practice and taught him about humility.

In 1991, after 4 years of dedicated practice at the age of 16, Jason represented the US at the World Championships of Sports Acrobatics in Beijing. In 1996, he performed acrobatics in the Opening Ceremonies at the Olympic games.

Yoga came to him in his last semester of university in 2001. After that first class there was no looking back. Connection to the breath and the lifestyle philosophy of yoga filled him with so much joy and new ideas of how to bring his past passions into a new form.

Currently he travels to teach, study and bring communities together. He believes this practice can be used as a tool to heal and connect people in a playful dance that can promote global peace.
