Yes, the team lost their 2nd half opening series to the Pirates and YES, Lindor and deGrom are both injured, but you can't be out here Cunceling da Saeson up 2 games in the division! Positive K opens up the show breaking down why the team isn't done yet and why fans should remain high on the team despite the awful opening. You know there's been a seismic shift in culture when Kevin Francis Clancy is the guy that needs to talk people off the ledge. We lay out what needs to happen the rest of the way through for the season to be deemed a success, what the front office should be looking for at the trade deadline and we're officially back on deGrom watch until he gets the "all clear." The guys wonder what everyone's fascination was with Gary Thorne this weekend, Clem provides an update on the state of the 96ers and we stand with our guy Stro and tell all the haters to kick rocks. Let's be clear, we're not in the best of situations at the moment, but WE STILL HAVE TIME. This could all just be a blip in the grand scheme of things and it's certainly a blip in terms of the franchise's trajectory with Uncle Stevie taking a buzz saw to everything that was Wilpon before him. So sit back and chill cause ya gotta believe.

We talk about the quiet cockiness he brought to the contest, crown Dave Jauss as the king maker and highlight this as the turning point to the polar bear's resurgence. We also breakdown the needs of the team if we want to go deep into September and October with meaningful games, breakdown the rotation's lack of depth and how it can be adjusted and start to talk trade deadline hopefuls and untouchables. The guys also highlight our newest draftee superstar Kumar 'The Rock' Rocker and what the future could hold for the 6'5" phenom. We're only half way through, but it's felt like a season's worth of stress already. The team opens up the second half with a 3.5 game lead and the 5th hardest schedule remaining in baseball, but we gotta believe that we're built for the grind and that uncle Stevie and Sandy will take the necessary steps to get us to where we want to be!

WGB #103: 7-Inning Split Jul 08, 2021

Another series win and another 7-inning double header split. A tale as old as time. They say you gotta give a little to get a little, but a sweep sure would be nice! We can only imagine where we'd be at with a few more Ws in the wins column, but the Mets have had so many 7-inning ballgames at this point that they will only play 158 games from an innings standpoint so that's win in and of itself. The guys break down this team's late inning heroics, their unsung heroes, sleeping giants and superstars getting into a groove. We talk the Brewers series, all-star game bailouts, the upcoming 7-game stretch with the Pirates and just how far ahead we should be once we're done sinking their ship. This is the time to put the pedal to the metal, upgrade the roster and get everyone healthy as we make our second half push into the season. We gotta believe that the team will only get better from here on out and the time to put that to the test is with Pittsburgh. The more ground we cover, the better so time to get to work and get to grinding.

WGB #102: The Bronx Is Burning Jul 05, 2021

Turns out there's only one team in town that should be worrying about their season and it ain't us! This was the weekend the fanbase needed to cool off and get some perspective of what a truly dysfunctional team looks like. Sure we've got our problems, but at lest we don't have problems like those schmucks across town. KFC and Clem break down the Subway Series, the team beating the bombers with bloops and blasts and just how fortunate we have become with our pitchers. If ever there was a time where we needed to be reassured that the team is good, this was it. Pete looks like he's got his power stroke back, Dom turned the clock back to last season and became a threat with every at bat and the rest of the squad did what we always expected them to do. NimmOBP SILENCED THE HATERS YET AGAIN and now we have depth and superstars, scary proposition. We gotta believe that this last stretch to the all-star break will set everyone's minds at ease and set the team apart from the rest of the division!

WGB #101: The Shame of Bobby Bo No Mo' Jul 02, 2021

We've been saying that we want to take Bobby Bonilla Day back for a while now, but this was our first opportunity to do it and it looks like the Mets beat us to it! We've been saying for YEARS that every team defers money and that it's a normal thing to do to remain competitive in baseball, but thanks to that hack Rovell, the Mets have become synonymous with awful contracts. Every July 1st, without fail, Mets fans have had to endure this black stain and blasphemy on our reputation, but NO MORE. The Mets partnering with Bobby Bo on an Air BnB suite in the stadium and a wink, wink, commercial giving a little nod to his infamous poker game is truly a sign that the tides have turned. The contract used to be a beacon of the poorly run and quite literally, poor owners of the city's second franchise. Now it's just ashtray money for Uncle Stevie and something that fans can laugh off, knowing that it will never be truly consequential ever again. KFC breaks down some of the worst deferred contracts that aren't Bonilla based, provides the history that led to it, what resulted for the team from having done it and sets the record straight once and for all that it was actually one of the better moves that were made at the time. We also discuss the giving Robbie Cano the Bobby Bo treatment, breakdown the beatdown by the Braves and look ahead to deGrom's start (back when we were optimistic and hadn't had our hearts ripped out by Lugo/Guillorme yet) The Mets remain 2 games up in the NL East, but for how much longer is anyone's guess. We gotta believe that heading into the Bronx will give this team the wake up call that they desperately need, but this could be a long haul to the all-star break.
