WGB #120: Once Upon A Time In Queens Preview w/ Director Nick Davis Sep 09, 2021
    Show notes

The guys are joined in studio by Nick Davis, the director of the highly anticipated new 30-For-30 ESPN documentary, 'Once Upon a Time in Queens.' They talk all things 1986 Mets and get a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to get this thing made. It's not often that we as Mets fans can get excited about something happening in September, but this doc is going to be must-watch. Nick gives us his insight on what it was like growing up with that team, how they ingrained themselves into the DNA of the city and how everyone knew that it could all come crashing down at any moment. There will never be another team like the '86 Mets. The storylines, the characters, the nightlife and the debauchery were all perfectly tailored for New York City at that time and those boys lived it to the fullest. Make sure to check out the 2-night event on September 14th and 15th for 4 hours of joy, misery and Mets. We also talk the current state of the Mets, how we can never REALLY trust Diaz and where we think we'll be come October. The fat lady isn't singing yet, but we gotta believe that she's backstage warming up those vocals.

WGB #119: Asleep at the Wheel Sep 02, 2021
    Show notes

The Mets are incapable of only having good news. It's just not in their nature. Despite the team sweeping a double header from the Marlins, mounting a seemingly impossible 5-run, 9th inning comeback and Javy Baez silencing the haters and scoring the winning run, all that was on the back pages of papers today was Mets GM Zack Scott being busted for a DUI. We would like to say this caught us by surprise, but does anything really catch Mets fans by surprise these days? The guys talk about our back up GM falling asleep at the wheel, the games themselves and what this means for Sandy and the front office moving forward. We also take calls from you, the fans, to hear your takes on the current status of the team and whether or not a late September push is in the cards. We thought we were out, but we gotta believe that we've got one last run in us!

WGB #118: The Boo Crew Aug 30, 2021
    Show notes

"The Mets have won their last 2 games and the offense has finally showed up! They may be turning it on late, but at least there's still some fight left in this group," is how we should have been starting this show. Instead it's "whose got two thumbs and is ready to burn this franchsie to the ground? Those guys!" What a truly wild 24-hour swing. In fact, it was so crazy that we never even began to even think about Noah Syndergaard testing positive and pushing off his rehab start. That might as well have been months ago with this Mets news cycle. Instead it's all about Javier Baez and Francisco Lindor taking the clubhouse down a road that leads to no where. The duo called out the fanbase with a thumbs down gesture and players, coaches, fans and owners are all weighing in to try to make sense of it all. We're not gonna knock the players for standing up for their teammates, but we certainly have some thoughts about where this culture is headed and exactly which fans the Mets are calling out. KFC and Clem highlight the particular brand of Mets fan that they believe the team is going against, Sandy and uncle Stevie's responses to the controversy and just about every other offseason and performance related criticism that has gotten us to this point. You can't keep stirring the pot and then cry when it overflows and you certainly can't win a battle against millions of irate fans so let's call this what it is- miscommunication. We aren't handing out any free passes or even giving them the benefit of the doubt, we just are of the belief that the common fan shouldn't feel insulted by what is being said or done. Be offended by the play on the field, feel patronized by the press conferences and fake optimism, but just know and believe that the thumbs down is for the 1% of fans that truly terrorize these normal people into fearing for their families. The guys also add a new segment to the end of the show in which we ask to hear from you, the true fans! We'll be running this throughout the rest of the year so make sure to subscribe on YouTube and follow on Twitter for your chance to be heard! WGB #117: No Mas Rojas? Aug 26, 2021
    Show notes

Nothing gets you run out of town faster than an epic collapse, a lackluster offense and a catchy slogan. Last night might have marked the beginning of the end to the interim/full-time/corona season manager as the Mets dropped another 2 games to the Giants, highlighted by Luis pulling Taijuan Walker. There had been murmurs and whispers all season long, but last night the crowd officially turned as "Fire Rojas' and "No Mas Rojas" chants echoed out across Citi Field. The team has been downright awful all month and despite the Yankees and Rays helping us out lately, the team has made up zero ground in the standings. September's right around the corner and heads gotta roll. We're not saying that Rojas will be let go before the season is up, but there's very little chance that he and Hugh survive the offseason. Clem and Kyle breakdown the recent failures, weigh the pro and CONS of deGrom being cleared to come back next month and we give updates to the Clem Counter and Cuncel Meter. We haven't dropped the big C yet, but in our minds we've gone to Cuncelina. We're holding out hope that the Braves blow it and the Mets beatdown the Nats and Marlins, but we believe the end is near.

WGB #116: Thank the F'ing LORD We Won Yesterday Aug 23, 2021
    Show notes

The Mets are doing just enough to stop us from abandoning ship. Every time we're on the edge, ready to take the plunge, they manage to do JUST ENOUGH to keep us sticking around. The fall has been epic and we're still not done with the west coast woes just yet, but there's hope on the horizon in the form of the Nats and Marlins. Yes, those teams usually find ways to rip our hearts out, but if we have any hope of turning this season around the time is now. The Braves have had a positively historic run at our expense and now they are heading into a Yankees, Giants and Dodgers Gauntlet that can allow us to make up a ton of room! Postive K refuses to Cuncel and if he and Clem are still on board then you should be too. We're not saying that this doesn't end in heartbreak, but we're still not ready to be done hurting. We gotta believe that the returns of Javy and Frankie give the team the boost they've desperately needed and we make one final run to glory! Stick with us cause we're all in this together and there's still more baseball to be played.

    WGB #115: deGrom doNE? Aug 19, 2021
    Show notes

This episode should have been all about the Mets salvaging their Giants series and avoiding a sweep, but JUST BEFORE we started recording a report came out that there's a 99.9% chance that Jacob deGrom will be shut down for the remainder of the season. As you can imagine, this changes things. Not that the pitching has been the problem, but any time you lose the greatest pitcher on the planet for the rest of your season it's going to cause ripples throughout the fanbase. Most notably, we almost got our first post-win Cuncel in history! Luckily the guys were able to talk KFC off of the ledge, but this isn't a good situation folks. The team is hanging on by a thread, we still have 2 more series with the Dodgers and Giants and not even a strongly worded tweet from Uncle Stevie can save us. This team has had a ton of issues that we've been able to overlook until now, but when the boss starts calling out the lineup you know it's gotten bad. Mid-August and 4.5 games out from first isn't too terrible, but if we want to have our meaningful games in September (and beyond) somethings gotta give. We discuss our biggest concerns in the division, which players need to start taking more accountability and pray that Lindor and Baez are back soon. It's looking very dark on the horizon and we're only half way through the storm but we gotta believe that this team can weather it enough to have a chance down the stretch.

WGB 114: West Coast Woes Aug 16, 2021
    Show notes

Clem and Kyle try to maintain some semblance of calm while the Mets slip further and further in the standings and kick off their west coast swing tonight. There's no sugar coating it, were down bad right now and this trip could be the tipping point for many in the fanbase. All that being said, if they can manage to survive and get to meaningful games in September we have a shot! The offense is putting up historically bad numbers, the clock on the rotation's fairytale run has seemingly struck midnight and Frank the Tank is grave dancing on the we gotta believe boys, but all we have to do is SURVIVE! The Phillies and Braves are just as bad and if they allow us to stick around we gotta believe that we have a shot down the stretch so brew that coffee, tuck the kids in and get ready for some late nights and Mets misery because the west coast woes have just begun!

WGB 113: A Look Back And A Look Ahead Ft. Meek Phil Aug 12, 2021
    Show notes

Meek Phill of #MetsTwitter fam (@MeekPhill_) joins KFC and Clem to discuss the ups and downs of the 2021 Mets season. The guys debate how Year 1 of the Cohen Era has been, if the Mets approached the trade deadline correctly, who is to blame for the shortcomings of the offense, and how the rest of the year may go (including the upcoming California gauntlet).

WGB 112: The Suicide Squad Aug 09, 2021
    Show notes

The Mets are no longer in first place and barely over .500 after scoring five (5) runs in Philadelphia over the weekend. Yet despite that, the guys are talking themselves into the team or at the very least the franchise since the Wilpons are gone. There is a mass exodus to Cuncelina, but there is also a Suicide Squad of Mets fans ready to play out the string until at least the end of the Dodgers-Giants 1-2 uppercut punch. Pete is asking fans to know that they got this and are doing everything they can to get back into first. Will it be enough? We'll see. But as all Mets fans know, ya gotta believe.

WGB 111: Hooked By The Marlins AGAIN Aug 05, 2021
    Show notes

The Marlins did what the Marlins always do, which is stick it to the Mets when it'll hurt the most. The guys try to fight off the Big C before this weekend's trip to Philadelphia and try to figure out which players on the team will help prevent that from happening before Giants and Dodgers double dip from hell. Michael Conforto seems to be a lost cause, Taijuan Walker has fallen from the All-Star graces, and the entire offense is absolutely lost. But the Cuncel Meter isn't in red...yet.
