097: Keep Going! YOU Got this! Sep 20, 2022
    Show notes

We live in an evolving world, where you can make money as a social media influencer or a coach or a podcaster or a travel blogger. It's fascinating, and yet … Our society is full of people who judge others for their choices. Older generations grew up with a very specific idea of what it looks like to be an adult: go to college, get a job, get married, work until you retire. And anything that looks different from that brings out critics in droves.

In today's episode, I'm talking about putting yourself out there and ignoring the critics. I'm sharing why you should follow your passions, how to ignore the judgment of others, and the beauty of embracing your life.

If you're sitting on the sidelines, judging others for what they do, you're wasting valuable time that could be spent exploring your own interests and desires. If you're a creator or an entrepreneur, keep putting yourself out there. Everything you do leads to where you're going. Make your life count for something that is meaningful or exciting or inspiring for you.

Don't live your life in fear of judgment from others because that only leads to a life full of regrets. Take risks to live the life you want without worrying about what others think. It can be difficult and lonely, but it's worth it for your long-term happiness.

    What's in this episode:

Everything you do leads to where you're going

How it can be difficult to stay on track in a society that offers a lot of judgment

Going to college vs. vocational schools

How we think of what is a "normal, linear" way of going to school and growing a career

How entrepreneurs are their own marketing team

Why people feel the need to judge others

How TikTok has changed the social media game

Why content creation is not easy

People who "play it safe" and end up with regrets

Why you shouldn't worry about what other people say or think about you

Being enamored by others instead of judging them

How we are conditioned to believe what we're told when we're young—and how to break free

Envisioning the life that you want

Putting your blinders on, not listening to others, doing what you want, and not telling anyone else

How parents can support their kids to do what they want to do

Building the life you want for the long-term

096: Are You Feeling Stuck? Stick with Me Sep 13, 2022
    Show notes

COVID brought a lot of changes to how we approach life and work and free time. You might be in a place where you've made some changes, or you might be wondering what the hell to do next. If you want to make a change, you are definitely not alone.

In today's episode, I'm talking about what to do if you're feeling stuck—in a job, in a city, in a marriage. Everything that happens in your life is a product of your imagination, so all you have to do is imagine yourself in a new scenario. Allow your brain and body and emotions to experience what it would feel like to move across the world, sell your house and buy an RV, quit your job and start your own business, or leave an unfilling relationship.

Inviting new experiences into your world can open you up to a whole new path. Go on a trip. Read a book. Go to a new coffee shop. Interact with different people. Something that you didn't know was possible is now a possibility because you are open to all that the world has to offer.

Your experiences create the person you're going to be in the future. Mistakes, wrong turns, impulses, planned decisions—it all prepares you for what's coming. You will benefit because you will learn something, no matter the outcome.

    What's in this episode:

How to navigate this post-COVID moment of transition

The differences between fear and anxiety and excitement that come with trying something new

How to use your imagination to respond to different potential changes or scenarios in your life

How you change your frequency when you use your imagination

Why experiences are so important to keeping your imagination alive

The importance of going through the necessary steps needed achieve the life you want (in a world influenced by social media and Hollywood)

Why you need patience and understanding that your path is winding and takes time

How every experience contributes to the person you are meant to become

Why taking a step doing anything will help you get unstuck

How to dig within and ask questions about what you're feeling in different circumstances

Making peace with your past to realize that it prepared you for where you are today

095: Madi Maple Knows Confidence Sep 06, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to the eighth and final episode in the Costa Rica Creators Series, featuring my fellow TikTok creators that I met at a life-changing retreat in Costa Rica.

Madi Maple is a confidence coach, a raver, and she's unapologetically herself. After growing up feeling different and like an outsider in her own religious community, Madi hit a point where she was desperate to make a change. Going to her very first rave gave her a sense of peace and of being home that she'd never felt before. Despite all her time in the LDS church, her experience with raving still felt uniquely and profoundly spiritual.

Madi's experience with raving has allowed her to embrace her own unique way of self-expression free from judgment and negativity. She finally found a place that she felt she belonged. Stepping into her real self finally allowed Madi to embrace her own confidence.

Now, she takes all that she's learned stepping into her own confidence and her own personality and helps her clients do the same through her own lived experience.

Getting closer to your true self can completely transform your life, just like it did for Madi. Finally being able to express yourself without guilt and judgment is one of the most freeing experiences and something that every single one of us deserves. Tune in today as I talk to Madi about her journey of personal discovery (because it's a constant process) and the lightness and joy that we can all find in this process for ourselves.

    What's in this episode:

Madi's experience growing up in the LDS Church

Why growing up feeling "wrong" in your community is so damaging

How healing unfolds like an onion (layer by layer)

How Madi is consistently building her own confidence

How going to her first rave gave her a sense of feeling "home"

Why stepping into your true self allows you to embrace your confidence

Why discovering who you are outside of stereotypes is key to personal growth

How stepping outside of your comfort zone allows you to discover your true self

Where you can find out more about Madi's webinars and workshops

    094: Let's Talk BDSM with Walter Aug 30, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to the seventh episode in the Costa Rica Creators Series, featuring my fellow TikTok creators that I met at a life-changing retreat in Costa Rica.

BDSM, or bondage, dominance, sadism, and masochism, is a fascinating way that you can express your sexuality. We all have a shadow part of ourselves and if we don't express it using things like BDSM consciously, then we will express it subconsciously. There is certainly a stigma surrounding the topic but it can be a great method of self-expression. It doesn't have to be violent or dirty, it can be fun and playful.

In this week's episode, I sat down with yet another friend from the retreat in Costa Rica, Walter. He is a spirituality, sexuality, confidence, psychedelics, and microdosing coach and I am so excited to dive into all of that today.

BDSM can be a vulnerable way to surrender to your partner and ask for what you want. Sex is a very natural, human experience, and there's no shame in it. By engaging in this type of activity in a safe space, you are embracing all of the parts of you that need to come out. If you don't, you may find that you're expressing them in other, less healthy, ways.

When you step into your authentic self in this way, the people, experiences, and opportunities that are meant for you will show up sooner because you are ready for them. Walter's program is all about the pilgrimage. It's about helping people go beyond the mind and go through the whole path of manifestation, sexuality, psychedelics, and confidence through self-expression.

    What's in this episode:

    Why surrendering is so important

Why surrendering isn't bad, it's just a detour

How service plays into the way that we create things

The impact we have on people's lives

What you can expect from Walter's program

How BDSM helps you express the shadow part of yourself

    The vulnerability involved in BDSM

How you can work with Walter

093: Get Ecstatic with Bianca! Aug 23, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to the sixth episode in the Costa Rica Creators Series, featuring my fellow TikTok creators that I met at a life-changing retreat in Costa Rica.

There is a magic that happens on retreats. If you've ever been on one, you may know what I mean. It's like being on another planet where everyone is working towards a common goal. Whether you're there because of a divorce, death, job change, or just to experience plant medicine, there is a sort of kismet thing that happens when you bring all of these like-minded people together who just want to change something about themselves.

In this week's episode, I sat down with another friend I met on the retreat, Bianca, to talk about all things retreats, ecstatic dancing, ayahuasca, plant medicine, and more.

Retreats create a safe space for people to be who they are without having to worry about anyone else. It's all about connecting to your center and just allowing you to get out of your head. They do this with things like ecstatic dancing, which is a way to get up, move your body however you want to, and let go of the emotions or trauma weighing you down.

Just giving ecstatic dancing even 50% effort will cause you to leave the dance floor a different person. You get the chance to focus on what you need and want, not anyone else and it is truly transformational.

If you really want to break out of the mundane and really crack yourself open, go on a retreat by yourself. It will change your life.

    What's in this episode:

    How Bianca plans out retreats

What you can expect from ecstatic dance

How trauma is stored in the body

    The benefits of ecstatic dancing

How cacao activations can help you feel more connected

How to find a place to do ecstatic dance near you

What to expect if you want to go to one of Bianca's retreat

How solo travel can change your life

092: Ayahuasca with Alyssa LeBlanc Aug 16, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to the fifth episode in the Costa Rica Creators Series, featuring my fellow TikTok creators that I met at a life-changing retreat in Costa Rica.

There is a lot of misinformation out there in the world on the topic of psychedelics and plant medicine. We were told growing up that if we took them, it would inevitably ruin our lives. However, they actually help us check in with ourselves on a deeper, more impactful level.

In this week's episode of Meredyth with a Why, I sat down with my dear friend Alyssa LeBlanc to talk about psychedelics, mental health, Human Design, and the transformative healing she experienced with Ayahuasca.

Alyssa struggled with severe depression and experienced suicidal thoughts throughout her life and tried everything to make them go away. She partied, she took medications, psychiatry, therapy, meditation, and so much more but nothing took away the darkness inside of her. She stumbled upon Ayahuasca and within one ceremony, the darkness was gone. Alyssa now feels a lightness and connectedness instead of the darkness of her depression.

According to Alyssa, Ayahuasca calls to you when you're ready. For some people, the changes that come from these ceremonies can be felt quickly. After numerous ceremonies, your life will be changed. Instead of checking out of your problems like you do with alcohol, you'll be able to check in with yourself and experience a new level of healing.

    What's in this episode:

What Alyssa went through when she was struggling with her mental health

    Alyssa's Ayahuasca journey

What an Ayahuasca ceremony feels like

How plant medicine and psychedelics help you check in and be more present with yourself

The world is changing drastically and plant medicine is going to become more prevalent

The effects alcohol has on your body

How to find an Ayahuasca ceremony

What integration is when it comes to ayahuasca ceremonies

The importance of monitoring your vibration

Why you can't keep yourself small because of comfort

How Human Design impacts your life

How you can hear more from Alyssa

091: Evan Cudworth Knows How To Party Aug 09, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to the fourth episode in the Costa Rica Creators Series, featuring my fellow TikTok creators that I met at a life-changing retreat in Costa Rica.

Needing to "loosen up" with a drink or two at the beginning of a party, family gathering, wedding reception, or other group event is a common response to the discomfort people often feel being around others. Whether it's an in-law that makes you uncomfortable or a new group of friends, we often think we need "liquid courage" to get us through.

In today's episode, I'm chatting with my friend Evan Cudworth, a party coach who helps people revolutionize their partying experience without the need for alcohol or drugs. Evan talks about how freeing it is to get vulnerable and be yourself around others, how to get creative with your partying, and how to not rely on substances for enjoyment.

You'll learn how to move from consumer to creator—how to enjoy yourself by creating fun and generating good vibes and living a life that you want to live instead of one that you feel like you have to escape. Taking time to connect authentically may feel awkward and vulnerable, but the connection will be that much deeper and more powerful.

    What's in this episode:

Evan's life journey and how he became a party coach

How to experience freedom and connection without substances

How to reprogram partying to be more about connectedness and experiences

Pinpointing the fear that is associated with needing "a drink or two" to feel comfortable in a group setting

Why it's helpful to sit with your feelings and move through your discomfort and vulnerability

Creating a life that you want, not one that you have to escape from

Bringing awareness into your life around alcohol consumption and not allowing judgment or shame (from yourself or others) about your choices

    What ecstatic dance is

    Show notes

Welcome to the third episode in the Costa Rica Creators Series, featuring my fellow TikTok creators that I met at a life-changing retreat in Costa Rica.

Psychedelics tend to have a negative connotation in people's minds. You might think of it as a "hard drug" or just be generally opposed to it because you don't understand it. Psychedelics are also known as plant medicine, and they're a useful tool for uncovering shadows and connecting to your higher self.

In today's episode in my new series, I'm talking with my friend Lauren Nikohl, a multidimensional singer/songwriter, producer, and DJ. She's sharing her experience with plant medicine and how it can help you improve your overall well-being, expand your consciousness, and open you up to the joys of life.

This conversation is a way to dispel myths about psychedelics and provide you with an understanding of plant medicine's healing properties. If you are open to the experience and ready to safely try plant medicine, be sure to check out Lauren's new book, Psychedelic Guide & Integration Journal. This guide and journal will help you to intentionally explore and heal with plant medicine.

089: Manifest it All Today with Coach Latha Jay Jul 26, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to the second episode in the Costa Rica Creators Series, featuring my fellow TikTok creators that I met at a life-changing retreat in Costa Rica.

Whether you realize it or not, you practice manifestation every day – with your actions, with your words, and even with your subconscious thoughts. But the key to attracting the things you desire is learning to harness that power and manifest consciously.

Contrary to popular belief, conscious manifestation doesn't simply mean asking the Universe for what you want and receiving it immediately. It means doing the work to define your greatest desires and learning to follow your joy towards the life you want. When you finally learn to get out of your own way, you'll find that manifestation is easier than you ever imagined.

In this episode of my new series, I'm chatting with my friend Latha Jay, a spiritual manifestation coach and co-creator of the GLOW Retreat. She's sharing her manifesting journey and the many ways that manifestation has changed her life. Then, she's explaining how you can start consciously manifesting your deepest desires.

If you're ready to get started, be sure to check out her new book, The Law of Attraction Manifestation Journal. It's full of prompts and exercises to help you create the life you want and deserve.

    What's in this episode:

How Latha and I bonded at the Costa Rica retreat she organized

How Latha teaches manifestation as a practical, achievable art

    Latha's manifestation journey

The power of breaking away from societal expectation

Putting your life before your work and learning to "follow your bliss"

How manifestation has worked in Latha's life and in her clients' lives

    How to practice conscious manifestation

How to "get out of your own way" as you manifest

Embracing the concept of "hiring slow and firing fast" in your everyday life

    088: Valerie Inez Talks Self-Limiting Beliefs Jul 19, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to the first episode in the Costa Rica Creators Series, featuring my fellow TikTok creators that I met at a life-changing retreat in Costa Rica.

Have you noticed how your self-limited beliefs hold you back? Are you interested in exploring your triggers? Have you had enough with people pushing your buttons? Do you want to heal from past traumas?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, what you need is shadow work. Your shadow is the darker parts of you that you try to hide or that you may not even realize exist. Maybe it was something that happened to you, or something you did, or something someone told you can't or shouldn't do. We all exist in duality, carrying the positive and the negative with us.

In this first episode of my new series, I'm chatting with my friend Valerie, an intuitive and a healer, about shadow work. We're talking about how your shadow affects all aspects of your life, why it's important to acknowledge it, and how to heal so that you can prioritize your needs and live as your authentic self.

Valerie's new book, Embrace Your Shadow, beautifully guides you with prompts and energy healing modalities. Shadow work is an incredibly transformative technique on the path to healing.

    What's in this episode:

Learning what your shadow is and the ways that it can manifest

Why it's important to address shadow work (so it doesn't run your life)

How your shadow aspects influence all parts of your life

How acknowledging your shadow and why it exists helps you live authentically

An example of a prompt from Valerie's book, Embrace Your Shadow, and how it can help you with your own shadow work

Why showing up for yourself makes you a better version of yourself as well as a better parent, friend, etc.

How your shadow can hide your inherent talents

How energetic healing techniques give you a variety of ways to drop into your body and begin to heal

What Valerie is looking forward to most about co-hosting the GLOW Retreat with me

Why being vulnerable and moving on doesn't have to be scary
