The Mandcave with Mandy Kaplan & Mandy Fabian

Latest Episodes:

The Mandys Love Simon Dec 20, 2021

Show notes

The Mandys find something to agree on this week after the debacle of last week’s show. Plus, they have new young people to fawn over, which is always a Mandcave treat.

Jazzball Change!

Here’s who Greg Ber-LAN-tee is. You should probably know. He’s also the producer behind 2011’s Green Lantern so, you know, not everything is glorious. And as long as we’re digging up dirt, here’s the story about date rape in John Hughes movies by way of Brett Kavanaugh. It’s not great either.

The Mandys Get Back to Hating Each Other Dec 13, 2021

Show notes

It's hard to make the case that the Peter Jackson's documentary of The Beatles is made for everyone. It's long, and much of its largess comes in the form of background guitar noodling. But if you love the band, you're in for a treat as you hear songs like "Let It Be" before it had lyrics.

Staying on brand, the Mandys are split on The Beatles: Get Back. How so? You'll have to listen in to find out!

The Mandys Laffigan at Gaffigan Dec 06, 2021

Show notes

Mandy went to New York City (New York CITY?) and managed to see every show on Broadway. She bought SWAG and pronounced it right. Mandy’s mom is a hoarder, but don’t worry, she doesn’t listen to this show. The real high point is a review of Jim Gaffigan’s book, Dad is Fat, mostly because they agree. Hard. But how? You’ll have to listen to find out.

The Mandys in White and White Nov 22, 2021

Show notes

Mandy brings The Midnight Library but Mandy couldn’t finish it. Thankfully, they agree that Taylor Swifts new short film makes them feel small as professionals. Check out “All Too Well” here, and remember Taylor directed it while you’re watching it.

The main event is a discussion of “Colin in Black and White”, the Netflix limited series in which Colin Kaepernick recounts “his formative years navigating race, class and culture while aspiring for greatness.”

The Mandys Debate $&!# Chappelle Nov 08, 2021

Show notes

It’s the most divisive cultural comedy experience of the last two weeks so the Mandys have naturally put it center stage on the show this week. Dave Chappelle’s latest Netflix exploration might be an exercise in free speech, but is it funny? Let’s all have some fun figuring that out this week as we peel apart The Closer.

Our headliner this week is the Real Housewives as the Mandys take on the first episode of the season eleven reunion episode. It’s catty, there’s a ton of makeup left on the mat, but they do manage to sort out the secret behind Erika’s music.

The Mandys Need (a) Vacation Oct 11, 2021

Show notes

There are certain words Mandy hates, but she's not telling what they are. Instead, you, dear listener, have to find them, and then share the show across socials using JUST THOSE WORDS. It'll be great. You won't incur the wrath of the Mandy at all. We promise.

The truly unprecedented portion of this show revolves around the remake of National Lampoon's Vacation in which Ed Helms and Christina Applegate take the kids on a cross-country road trip and no it's not a remake thank you very much. What's so unprecedented about it? Why would we every tell you that in the show notes? That ruins all the fun.
