Top Gun: Mandrick Jun 20, 2022

Show notes

Mandy thinks Top Gun: Maverick is terrible. Mandy disagrees and writes some Tom Cruise fan fiction in response. OK, so what it’s a remake of the first one? Mandy has read AIRPLANE MANUALS, y’all. This movie is ripe with conflict and sweat in this movie that is all about fighting and flying and the Naval aviators that are on our lists.

The Mandy Project Jun 06, 2022

Show notes

Being a celebrity mom is trying, but it’s certainly made better when your kids are just so damned hairy... wait, that’s talented. That's why it's time to settle in and watch a whole lot of charismatic action heroism and timey-wimey hand-waving in the Ryan Reynolds scifi flick, The Adam Project.

Waiting for Guffmandy May 30, 2022

Show notes

Let’s get this out of the way: Waiting for Guffman is not a risky pick for Mandy. It’s a classic in the Christopher Guest-and-crew improvisational film oeuvre. The only contentious part of the show? When should Mandy sing?

Under the Mandy of Heaven May 23, 2022

A Very Punchable Mandy May 09, 2022

Show notes

If you're listening to this show, you're probably a human that would get some enjoyment out of Colin Jost's book, A Very Punchable Face. But if you're a fan of his punchable face on Saturday Night Live, you should make sure you get the audiobook version so you can hear him read it. Then your hands are free to punch images of him as you listen. It's a real multimedia experience.

So, cat's out of the bag, the Mandy's actually agree on this. It's a funny book. So you're not here for the fights this week. What you are here for may or may not include a digression on vegan cooking and the scatological perils of being an adult. You have been warned.

The Mandy Before May 02, 2022

Show notes

The Mandys are as split as the emotional haunting that comes from the vast sucking blackness of grief over HBOMax adaptation of The Girl Before. It’s based on the 2016 book of the same name by J.P. Delaney. But don’t worry, you don’t have to have read it to get it.
