I can’t pretend to know the exact strategy your business needs (you can book a one-on-one call with me to figure that out), but for the most part, if it ain’t broke, you don’t gotta fix it. What comes next is just a part of the online business process.

    MOTM #664: What’s Your Thing? May 12, 2025
    Show notes

In your business, in your activism, and in your life, you can’t do it all. As a business coach, I’m always telling people to niche down and to focus on one thing at a time, and I know how impossible that feels. When you do a lot of things and you care about a lot of things, focusing on just one thing at a time feels limiting. But when we spread ourselves too thin, nothing gets done. So, whats your thing?

    Let’s chat.

Welcome to Maestro on the Mic, a podcast that helps online business owners find their passion, generate more profit, and build a life that they love. I'm your host, Dr. Shanté Cofield, aka The Movement Maestro, and I’m stoked to have you here. I hope this podcast inspires you to make moves and do the thing. Action is the answer.

    In This Episode You'll Hear:

    • We can’t care about every little thing
    • Picking just one thing isn’t easy
    • Take some time to sit and think
    • Embrace the seasonality of your life
    • You don’t have to stay the same

MOTM #663: Do We Actually Need More Podcasts? May 05, 2025
    Show notes

The world doesn’t need another Joe Rogan. But that doesn’t mean podcasts are dead, and it doesn’t mean what you have to say is unimportant, either. There are plenty of podcasts out there, but only a small portion of those are actually GOOD, and an even smaller portion of those ever make it past 100 episodes. The world doesn’t need just another podcast, it needs more podcasts that are actually helpful, interesting, and important. If that’s you, then by all means, podcast away.

    Let’s chat.

    MOTM #662: The Funnel-Industrial Complex Apr 28, 2025
    Show notes

You might have heard of the military or the prison industrial complexes, but they aren’t the only of their kind. I used to think an industrial complex was just a fancy way of saying a large or pervasive system, but what it really is is a self-justifying, self-reinforcing system. These systems purposely create problems just so they can solve those problems and then—you guessed it—profit off of the demand they created. Gross. Internet marketers aren’t innocent of this. Y’all know I’m all for strategy, but not every little interaction in your business needs to be finding ways to eek more profit out of your audience. We’re better than that.

    Let’s chat.

MOTM #661: Should You Start a Substack? Apr 21, 2025
    Show notes

I see a lot of people thinking that starting a Substack is somehow the secret to finding new clients and making good money in your online business, but y’all should know by now that it’s never that easy. Yes, there are people making good money with that platform, but they typically already have an audience they’ve built some other way—not to mention the fact that they don’t own their shit, Substack does! If you want to monetize your emails and blogs, you absolutely can (and should!), but there are far better ways to do it.

    Let’s chat.

    • Own all of your shit as soon you can

MOTM #660: Should You Always Display Your Prices? Apr 14, 2025
    Show notes

Do I really even need to answer the question this title is asking? If you know me at all, you know I’m a big believer in the idea that our businesses are opportunities for us to build a better world—one where our choices are dictated by our values and not by the whims of someone who cares more about their wallet than your life. Me? I value transparency, I value agency. So yeah, I’m gonna display my fucking prices.

MOTM #659: How Important Are Email Subject Lines? Apr 07, 2025
    Show notes

There’s this idea out there that a good subject line is the difference between getting your email opened and getting your email deleted, but is that true? I could have titled this episode something like, “How to write better email subject lines” but that would be making the assumption that subject lines are all that important, and I just don’t think they are. When someone opens an email, it’s because they care about the person or business sending the email—they care about YOU. And while there are some tactics you can use to increase your open rates, the most important by far is building trust with your audience.

    Let’s chat.

    In This Episode You'll Hear:

    • Are subject lines even important?
    • The reason is you
    • Use your own behavior as a guide
    • What builds trust
    • Email list tactics
    • Everything is transactional (and no one wants that)

MOTM #658: Is Success Still Possible in the Online Space? Mar 31, 2025
    Show notes

Looking around at the general state of the world might have you wondering if it’s still possible to be successful in your online business. Sure, political and economic uncertainty might have people clutching their wallets a little tighter, but there will always be a market for people looking to buy solutions. I can’t guarantee how long it will take, and the kind of product you sell may matter more, but success is always possible—as long as you’re clear what “success” looks like to you, and you’re able to manage your expectations on the way there.

    • Your niche matters
    • Is online business an MLM?

MOTM #657: Something You Can Do Right Now Mar 24, 2025

When your life, or your business, or the world is falling apart, panic is a common reaction. But panic doesn’t get anyone anywhere, and it certainly doesn’t fix the problem. Even when things are falling apart, we always have a say and there is always something we can do. You can’t save the world, but you can start somewhere, and you can start now.

MOTM #656: The Consequences of Outsourcing Mar 17, 2025
    Show notes

Outsourcing has it’s place in business and life, but outsourcing everything can be a slippery slope. There’s a massive difference between outsourcing your food vs. outsourcing your taxes vs. outsourcing your thinking. Us human beings work better in teams, but before you go outsourcing every uncomfortable or inconvenient task in your life, maybe stop and asking yourself why you’re outsourcing at all.
