Browns vs. Ravens Preview | Will Jacoby Brissett Rebound Against The Ravens? Oct 20, 2022
    Show notes

Garrett Bush of The Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and Locked On Browns Podcast joins Kevin Oestreicher of The Locked On Ravens to Preview The NFL Week 7 Matchup between the Browns vs. Ravens. Will Jacoby Brissett Rebound Against The Ravens?

The Cleveland Browns visit the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7 of the 2022 NFL Season. The Cleveland Browns just lost to the New England Patriots in a game that was closer than the final score indicated. The Ravens just lost another game when they lead in the fourth quarter with the Giants coming back to win. This should be an interesting game with both teams needing to rebound. Let’s take a look at the odds and make some picks and predictions for this game! In this video, we preview the Browns vs. Ravens game and ask the question: will Jacoby Brissett rebound against the Ravens?

On today's Locked On Browns podcast, we discuss the Browns vs. Ravens game and ask the question: will Jacoby Brissett rebound against the Ravens? Many Browns fans are wondering if Brissett can succeed against a Ravens defense that has traditionally been very stingy against the Browns. Tune in to find out!

The Baltimore Ravens are 6.5-point home favorites and are also at -280 on the money line. The over/under is also at 46.5. Baltimore being the favorites here and by that much makes a lot of sense because they have all the talent of a very good team, but just haven’t been able to close out the games that they’ve lost. The over/under also makes sense because the Ravens have a very good offense and Cleveland can score as well, but they’re just inconsistent. This spread could move, but it seems like it’ll stay around this number.

Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens Prediction

    The pick: Baltimore -6.5

The Cleveland Browns seem like they might be reeling and on a downward spiral. Baltimore has proven to collapse in the second half of games, but it seems like the Browns might be struggling way more. The Browns have one of the best running games in the league, with them averaging 172 yards on the ground, but for whatever reason they have gone away from that dominant running attack in recent weeks. The biggest example of this was last week when the Browns just had 70 yards on the ground. The tandem of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt is one of the best in the whole league and for the Browns to have any chance in this game they need to establish the run and not rely on Jacoby Brissett as the bulk of their offense.

The Baltimore Ravens have been a team that’s had a roller coaster of a season up to this point. The games they’ve lost were lost in the second half after each team came back in the fourth quarter. The key for the Ravens in this game is what their defense can do because they have not been great this year, especially against the pass. The biggest difference here might be the fact that the Ravens have Lamar Jackson and the Browns don’t. That’s reason enough to like this bet too.

Fans React To Cleveland Browns Safety John Johnson's Eye Opening Comments Oct 19, 2022
    Show notes

'It's a commitment thing': John Johnson III believes Browns defense needs full dedication

BEREA − It's a motto that is linked to a completely different NFL franchise. However, Browns safety John Johnson III believes there's something to be said about the Raiders' "Commitment to excellence" mantra. Specifically, Johnson believes there's something the Browns defense can take from the first word of that motto to change the trajectory of what has been one of the league's worst defenses statistically. "Yeah, it's a commitment thing," Johnson said Wednesday. "When practice is over and our day is done, you can't just run out of the building and forget about your job. I think we need everyone in this building to really be a 100% in on the task at hand. Right now I think we're at a place where that's not the case. So whatever we gotta do to get as many guys, if not everyone in on the same page I think that's what it is. Because that's the only way things are going to change."

The Browns defense is currently tied for 23rd in the league, allowing 361.3 yards a game, entering Sunday's game at Baltimore. They're tied for 30th in points allowed at 27.2 points a game. The pass defense, which had been better against Pittsburgh and Atlanta, even the Los Angeles Chargers, allowed Patriots rookie Bailey Zappe to throw for 309 yards in just his second start. The Browns are 19th in pass defense with 229.8 yards a game. The run defense, which was better against New England after being gashed by the Falcons and Chargers, is 24th at 131.5 yards per game. That's where the talk about commitment comes into play. Specifically, it's where the talk about a commitment to accountability to finally change those statistics. Johnson isn't the first one to speak on the commitment subject since the Browns dropped their third consecutive game last Sunday to the New England Patriots. He's just the most established player on the defense, at least in terms of years in the league, to bring it up.

Linebacker Sione Takitaki spoke along a similar vein on Monday, a day after the Patriots loss. The message was one formulated by the leadership group among the Browns players shortly after the game. Both Johnson and Takitaki are among the handful of Browns defenders who have at least four years in the league. The former is in his fifth season in the NFL, and second in Cleveland, and the latter is in his fourth season after being drafted in the third round in 2019 by the Browns.

Outside of nine-year pro Jadeveon Clowney and seventh-year pro Myles Garrett, there's few more experienced that those two on the defense. Now, it's about that message getting through across the defense in time for Sunday's game. That change starts with the preparation each player puts in during a given week. The Browns' work day generally starts before 8 a.m. and last until at least 5 p.m., between on-field and off-the-field work. What players like Johnson believe is that's not enough time dedicated to the work. As with anything someone may want to master, there's work away from the organized training that is necessary. Among the ideas has been film study away from the facility, extra time dedicated to looking not just at the opponent, but at themselves. It's all about figuring out ways to show up on Sunday, specifically this Sunday against the Ravens, ready to play at their highest level.

Is The Cleveland Browns Coaching Staff On The Hot Seat? Oct 17, 2022
    Show notes

Are the Cleveland Browns coaching staff on the hot seat? It sure looks that way after another loss, this time to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In this episode of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, host Garrett Bush takes a look at the latest news and rumors surrounding the Cleveland Browns coaching staff.

The Cleveland Browns were the latest team to get “Zapped” by the New England Patriots and rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe, who now owns a 2-0 record as a starter to begin his NFL career. The Patriots beat the Browns 38-15 in Cleveland due to a highly efficient performance from Zappe and a dominant effort from New England’s defense. Offensive spotlight: Zappe went 24-of-34 for 309 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Based on PFF's first review, he got rid of the ball at an average 2.61-second clip. He didn’t make any big-time throws but also wasn’t marked with any turnover-worthy plays. The Patriots made effective use of play action, as Zappe went 6-of-7 for 144 yards and a touchdown with a play fake. Zappe was also penalized for delay of game and intentional grounding, so it wasn’t all positives from the rookie, but it was still an impressive display in just his second career start.

Defensive spotlight: Browns edge defender Myles Garrett was battling through injuries during the game but finished with two sacks, including a strip sack, and three hurries. He finished the game with a game-high 24-percent pass-rush win rate.

Rookie spotlight: Patriots rookie wide receiver Tyquan Thornton saw extended playing time with Nelson Agholor (hamstring) inactive and Kendrick Bourne (toe) banged up. He caught four passes for 37 yards with his first career receiving touchdown and also carried the ball twice for 17 yards with his first rushing touchdown. He forced one missed tackle as a receiver. New England has been impressed with Thornton in practice, and his development is showing on the game field.

Offensive line spotlight: Patriots right tackle Isaiah Wynn is having a rough go in a contract year. He moved from left to right tackle this offseason and was spelled by Marcus Cannon for a stretch in the third consecutive game after allowing a sack and hurry in addition to being charged with a false start. There weren’t many positives for Cleveland in this game, but its offensive line only allowed 10 total pressures on first review. Browns right guard Wyatt Teller left the game with a calf injury and didn’t return, so that’s a situation to monitor.

Cleveland fans have gone through a rollercoaster of emotions in the span of 16 hours coming off of the Guardians stunning victory and the Browns frustrating loss. If you stayed up late last night to celebrate the Cleveland Guardians thrilling come from behind, walk-off win at Progressive Field, you would have seen Cleveland sports fans jubilantly celebrating throughout the streets of downtown Cleveland.Unfortunately, the Cleveland Browns provided their fans with the exact opposite set of emotions while getting pummeled by Bill Belichick and a 3rd string quarterback.

RELATED: Ouch! Listless Cleveland Browns embarrassed by New England Patriots 38-15The only silver lining, and I mean only, was Myles Garrett breaking the official Browns career sack record in the first quarter of Sunday's game.

RELATED: Myles Garrett becomes Cleveland Browns' career leader in sacks Understandably so, Browns fans took to social media to vent after they saw the team once again look lost on defense allowing 3rd string QB Bailey Zappe to complete 24/34 passes for 309 yards and 2 touchdowns.Garrett Bush of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and Jeff Lloyd of the Locked on Browns Podcast bring you your daily Cleveland Browns Podcast.

Browns lose again as the questionable play persists Oct 17, 2022
    Show notes

The Cleveland Browns lost their week match-up to the New England Patriots by a score of 34-16. In this video, we take a look at all 3 phases of the game and how they stunk. From the first quarter to the fourth, the Browns offense was nonexistent, and the defense gave up 34 points. The running game was nonexistent, and the Browns were forced to pass the ball almost every time. The special teams were also horrible, allowing two returns for touchdowns.

It's the ultimate Cleveland sports show as we give our immediate reaction to the NFL Browns vs. Patriots game! We talk about all the key match-ups and give our predictions for the game. Let's hope we're right and the Browns can pull out the win!

Garrett Bush of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and the Locked on Browns Podcast gives his reaction the Browns vs. Patriots Game. G.Bush believes that Browns Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods needs to relinquished of his duties. The offense was trash as well against the Patriots. Jacoby Brissett throws 2 INTs and loses fumble, defense horrible as Browns lose 38-15 to Patriots and fall to 2-4.

Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett headed into the Patriots game Sunday vowing to be better after throwing late interceptions in back-to-back losses to the Falcons and Chargers.

Instead, he threw two interceptions — including one on the second play of the game — and lost a fumble when the ball slipped out of his hand late in the game en route to a 38-15 loss to the Patriots (3-3) at FirstEnergy Stadium. When Brissett wasn’t busy turning the ball over, the defense was blowing coverages against Bailey Zappe, a third-string, fourth-round quarterback starting his second NFL game.

Browns vs. Patriots Preview | Why This Is A Must Win For The Browns! Oct 14, 2022
    Show notes

Garrett Bush of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and Jeff Lloyd of the Locked On Browns Podcast was joined Locked On Patriots Podcast to preview the Week 6 Matchup between the Browns vs. Patriots The New England Patriots shut out the NFL's No. 1 scoring offense in Week 5 with a 29-0 win over the Detroit Lions. Will they carry that momentum into Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Browns in Cleveland?

History is in the Patriots' favor.

They have won four consecutive games and eight of the last nine versus the Browns. Cleveland's only win during that span was a 2010 matchup highlighted by running back Peyton Hillis racking up 184 yards and two touchdowns. Despite the Browns' lack of recent success against the Patriots, oddsmakers have made Cleveland a slight favorite to win Sunday.

Here are the opening betting lines for this game, via DraftKings Sportsbook:

    Spread: Patriots +3 (-115), Browns -3 (-105)

    Moneyline: Patriots +130, Lions -150

    Over/Under: Over 42.5 points (-110), Under 42.5 points (-110)

The Patriots are 7-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last nine games versus the Browns, and they are 17-3 straight up in their last 20 matchups with AFC North opponents. The Browns also are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games.

Sunday's game could come down to Cleveland's ability to stop the run. The Browns are giving up 5.3 yards per carry, which is the third-most in the league. The Patriots likely will give running back Rhamondre Stevenson plenty of carries against this Browns defense, especially after he ran for a career-high 161 yards against the Lions last week. The Patriots also should be plenty familiar with Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett's strengths and weaknesses. New England drafted Brissett in 2016 and he played in three games for them that season.

New England isn't a lock to win Sunday by any means. But with a strong run game and a veteran defense, the Patriots should at least be favorites in this game.

Browns Legend D'Qwell Jackson Loves The Addition of LB Deion Jones Oct 13, 2022
    Show notes

Garrett Bush of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and Jeff Lloyd of the Locked On Browns Podcast was joined by Browns Legend D'Qwell Jackson to talk about the impact of newly acquired Deion Jones. D'Qwell also previews NFL Week 6 matchup between the Cleveland Browns vs. New England Patriots.

The Browns had a changing of the guard of sorts at middle linebacker on Wednesday, with newcomer Deion Jones practicing with the team for the first time, and Anthony Walker Jr. returning to the building and watching for awhile from the sidelines on crutches and in a full left-leg brace.

The Browns have sorely missed Walker, who suffered a season-ending torn quad tendon against the Steelers in Week 3 and recently underwent surgery. They’re hoping that Jones, the 2017 Pro Bowler acquired in a trade with the Falcons immediately after the Browns surrendered 238 yards rushing in their 30-28 loss to the Chargers, will ease the loss, both from an on- and off-the-field standpoint.

Jones is even up for wearing the green sticker and calling defensive plays on the field right away if called upon.

“I’ve done it, so yeah, I could do it,” he said. “It’s just a matter of applying yourself, studying, making sure you know everything.”

Coach Kevin Stefanski acknowledged there’s some carryover with what Jones did in Atlanta, but the Browns need to see how quickly he picks things up.

“Deion is a very smart football player, very intelligent,” he said. “Has been in a similar system so we’ll see how much he can catch up. We just really got to meeting with him (Tuesday) so it is crash course when you acquire a player midseason. We will see what he can handle.”

The change of scenery was welcome for Jones, who had his $8.55 million contract restructured in the offseason to lower his cap hit to about $1.3 million. The Browns owe him $760,000 in base salary with bonuses that max out at $1.6 million this year.

“Everyone likes a fresh start, real clean slate, no expectations, just come in and learn and play stress-free,” he said.

Despite the Browns’ loss in Atlanta, Jones has liked what he’s seen from this defense.

“It’s a tough team that plays hard,” he said. “Just one or two plays away from a win sometimes and that’s just this league, you know? One or two plays away, a total of six points (for the three losses).”

His first game back will be against the Patriots, whom he lost to as a rookie in the Super Bowl, 34-28. The Patriots are coming off a 29-0 rout of the Lions in which they rushed for 176 yards, 161 by Rhamondre Stevenson.

“We know the run game, just basically everything,” Jones said. “Just being locked in and moving forward. You can’t make a lot of mistakes with the Patriots.”

Jones is even up for wearing the green sticker and calling defensive plays on the field right away if called upon.

Is It Already A Must Win For The Browns Against The Patriots? Oct 13, 2022

With Reinforcements on the way can the Cleveland Browns right the ship against the Patriots Oct 12, 2022
    Show notes

Host Jeff Lloyd is joined by Sports Illustrated's Pete Smith to discuss the Browns issues versus the run, the surprises of the offense and how this game against New England is bigger than most realize. Deion Jones and Tyeler Davison are here, can the help this miserable run defense get back on track against a team that will come in looking to run. The Cleveland offense has done some really good things thus far but if Jacpby Brissett can get others involved there is another step this offense can take. The 2021 season really went off the rails against the Patriots can the team focus on that and get a much needed win Sunday at home. #Browns #NickChubb #MylesGarrett

Who IS TO BLAME for the Browns loss against the Chargers? Oct 10, 2022
    Show notes

Garrett Bush of The Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and Jeff Lloyd of The Locked On Browns Podcast discuss Who IS TO BLAME for the Browns loss against the Chargers? The also discuss the Browns trading a late round pick in 2022 & 2023 to the Atlanta Falcons for LB Deion Jones.

A late pick by Jacoby Brissett and 2 Cade York missed field goals result in Browns’ 30-28 to Chargers as they fall to 2-3. Cade York wasn’t able to come through with the miracle, game-saving field goal this time like he did in Carolina. York pushed a 54-yard field goal wide right with 11 seconds left to seal the Chargers’ 30-28 victory over the Browns on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium. Earlier, York pushed a 45-yarder wide right, also at the closed end of the stadium. He made a 58-yarder in Carolina to win the opener. Fans booed as the Browns left the field. It dropped the Browns to 2-3 and marked their second straight loss. The Chargers are 3-2.

Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett played a hard-fought, valiant game, but was picked off in the end zone with 2:44 remaining and the Browns trailing 30-28. On third and 7 from the 9, Brissett rolled right and fired for Amari Cooper in the back of the end zone. Instead, he was picked off by safety Alohi Gilman, who returned the ball to the Chargers 17. Justin Herbert completed a 19-yard pass to Mike Williams to the Chargers’ 37.

But the defense forced the Chargers to give the ball up on downs at their 45 when M.J. Emerson broke up a pass on fourth and 1 to Mike Williams. It was an enormous play for Emerson and a curious call by Chargers coach Brandon Staley to give the Browns field position and a shot to win with 1:14 to play and no timeouts left.

The game marked the return of Browns defensive end Myles Garrett after he missed last week’s 23-20 loss to the Falcons after his car accident. Garrett, needing one sack to break Clay Matthews’ official club record of 62, was shut out on sacks but pressured Chargers quarterback Justin Gilbert all afternoon. It also marked the return of Jadeveon Clowney, who missed the past two games with an ankle injury.

The Chargers came into the game last in the NFL in yards per carry at 2.7. But against the Browns, they ran 34 times for 238 yards and two touchdowns, an average of 7.0 per carry. The total included a 71-yarder in the first quarter by Austin Ekeler, who finished with 16 carries for 173 yards.
