Being Right At Your Own Expense Feb 24, 2023
    Show notes

When we push ourselves to get results that feel “too much” or we’re forcing outcomes “too fast” or “too soon”, we may wind up with a dysregulated nervous system.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you notice pushing or forcing because you’re “right” and ending up dysregulated and stressed?
    • How does your body tell you that you’re nearing or have surpassed your capacity?
    • How committed to closing stress cycles are you willing to be?

Why I’m Not Renewing My Certification Feb 23, 2023
    Show notes

This week, I made the decision to not renew my I.C.F. coaching certification and I really like my reasons for not doing so.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When have you looked outside yourself for external approval or permission?
    • What were you believing about yourself when you did so?
    • Who do you allow to “qualify” your gifts and talents?
    • If you didn’t need validation or approval going forward, what might you do?
    • How willing are you to trust yourself to make continuous progress without external accountability?

Anger Fuels Action Feb 22, 2023
    Show notes

Anger is not a problem - it is a helpful, useful emotion that can instigate positive action. Anger only becomes problematic when we react to our anger or direct it at others.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • How willing are you to feel your anger?
    • How often do you react to anger and direct it toward others?
    • When do you notice becoming immobilized or shut down in anger?
    • What can anger teach you about WHAT’S OK and WHAT’S NOT OK?
    • What is the one next anger might lead you to take?
    • What flavor of anger is most uncomfortable for you:
      • impatience?
      • frustration?
      • annoyance?
      • irritation?
      • something else
    • How does anger show up as physical sensations in your body?

When We Juxtapose Ourselves Feb 21, 2023
    Show notes

Is it really true that we can only really know who we are in juxtaposition to others?

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When does it serve you to compare yourself to others?
    • When doesn’t it?
    • When does it serve you to compete with others?
    • When doesn’t it?
    • When do you compare your gifts and talents to the strengths of others?
    • When do you compare your passionate talents to the interests of others?

One Size Never Fits All Feb 20, 2023
    Show notes

When we believe that “one size SHOULD fit all”, we unconsciously believe that there’s no room for being or doing things “differently”.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you expect yourself to think or feel the way others do?
    • When do you expect others to think or feel the way that you do?
    • When are you resistant to ask for what you really need?
    • When do you feel like you don’t have agency or have a choice?
    • What were you taught about settling for the “same”?

Stop Tattling and Canceling Feb 19, 2023
    Show notes

Tattling is not the same thing as “informing”. In fact, “cancel culture” is just another type of “tattling”.

When we inform, our intention is to provide someone with information in order to EMPOWER them or someone else.

When we tattle (cancel), our intention is to BLAME them or someone else, thereby ensuring that someone is:

    • punished
    • publicly shamed
    • overpowered
    • humiliated
    • inferior

When we tattle, we are stuck in The Drama Triangle playing the role of:

    • Victim
    • Rescuer
    • Persecutor

Every role is motivated by BLAME.

When we inform, we are intentionally trying to EMPOWER. In The Empowerment Dynamic,

we can intentionally play the roles of:

    • Creator
    • Coach
    • Challenger

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When are you tempted to tattle?
    • When you tattle, what’s your intention for doing so:
      • to get attention?
      • to blame or shame?
      • to be rescued?
    • How can you have your own back when someone tattles “on” you or to you?
    • How willing are you to educate yourself regarding the difference between “blaming” and “empowering”?

Start Where You Are Feb 18, 2023
    Show notes

“Starting where we are” means to allow the present moment to be your baseline - the starting point from which you can measure your continuous progress.

I invite you to consider these questions:

What’s your “baseline” starting point in regard to your:

    • health?
    • life satisfaction and enjoyment?
    • energy level?
    • passion or excitement?

    Celebrating Progress Feb 17, 2023
    Show notes

We must be willing to celebrate our progress. We tend to look at how much we still have to do, yet we must equally measure our progress and celebrate it fully.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • What progress have you made:
      • today?
      • this week?
      • this month?
      • this year?
    • What prevents you from celebrating your progress?

Introverted or Socially Anxious? Feb 16, 2023
    Show notes

There’s a difference between being introverted and being socially anxious.

    Introverted people tend to:

    • recharge from within
    • enjoy solitary pursuits
    • relax and unwind alone

A person who struggles with social anxiety may experience:

    • worry about doing something embarrassing in public
    • avoid interacting with people
    • get fixated on potential “screw-ups” in social settings
    • feel frustrated and lonely because they struggle to connect with others

(Based on the Healthline article: “Yes, Introversion and Social Anxiety Are Two Different Things” by Crystal Raypole.)

    Social Anxiety Vs. Introversion

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • Do you notice an “alarm” going off in your body when you’re in social settings?
    • What types of social situations are most triggering?
    • What do you tend to be thinking in triggering social situations about you or about others?
    • When do you resist your need to recharge as an introvert?
    • As an introvert, what types of social engagements do you prioritize?

When You’re Triggered In Social Settings Feb 15, 2023
    Show notes

Because we’re human beings with human brains and bodies, we are going to get triggered at times when we’re in a social setting or scrolling on social media.

We tend to get triggered when we compare ourselves to others in regard to:

    • appearance/attractiveness/clothing
    • wealth/income
    • education/intelligence
    • gifts/talents/strengths
    • social status/relationship status
    • success/achievements
    • career/job
    • children’s accomplishments
    • your zip code

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When have you noticed feeling inferior in regard to your:
      • appearance?
      • income or financial status?
      • level of education or type of intelligence?
      • your children or lack thereof?
      • residence or neighborhood?
