But I Like This More Feb 04, 2023
    Show notes

When we say “I like THIS - but I like THAT more,” we simultaneously acknowledge that we do like engaging in habits or actions that don’t serve us long term AND we prefer to do something even better.

    • “I really like eating sugar and flour AND I like how I feel without it MORE.”
    • “I really like drinking wine AND I like sleeping well and waking up refreshed MORE.”

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • What do you “really like” AND you’d like to do less of it, take a break from it, or stop doing it?
    • What might you like more than your current habit?
    • What do you really love doing that you want to stop or take a break from?

It’s Not OK To Treat Others Like Sh*t Feb 03, 2023
    Show notes

You must know what’s OK and what’s NOT OK in the relationships you have to OTHERS.

    It’s NOT OK to:

    • shame or guilt another person
    • blame them for your feelings
    • lash out at others when you’re angry or triggered
    • expect another person to be 100% compatible with you
    • expect others to anticipate or assume what you need
    • self-sacrifice to meet the needs of others
    • push yourself past your capacity
    • act like a “Debbie Downer” and complain all the time
    • act like an “Energy Vampire” and suck the energy from others

    It’s OK to:

    • feel guilty when, according only to you, you’ve behaved in a manner you’re not proud of
    • share what you’ve felt AFTER you feel it and learn from it
    • buy yourself the time to take care of your body when triggered:
      • “I’m a little off right and I need to process this. I’ll circle back and let you know when I’m ready to talk about it.”
    • not feel like you have to love or do what the other person loves or does
    • communicate your needs or wants to others
    • say NO when you aren’t willing or able to meet the expectations of others
    • share your feelings and experiences vulnerably with others
    • intentionally decide not to spend time with “Debbie Downers” or “Energy Vampires”

    When do you notice:

    • feeling ashamed or guilty for the emotions of others?
    • using the phrase: “You made me feel… “?
    • your body going into A.L.A.R.M.?
      • A = abuse
      • L = loss
      • A = abandonment
      • R = rejection
      • M = forced maturity
    • criticizing others when they’re incompatible with you?
    • reacting to anger and lashing out?
    • expecting others to be just like you?
    • expecting others to anticipate your needs and wants?
    • sacrificing your health and well-being to meet the needs of others?
    • pushing yourself past your capacity?
    • being the “audience” for a complainer?
    • complaining for attention?
    • allowing someone to “drain” your energy?
    • depending on others to be your joy?

When do you notice being willing to:

    • allow others to take responsibility for the part they played?
    • decide, according only to your own values, when you are willing to learn from guilt?
    • feel discomfort when someone is hurt or disappointed with you?
    • meet your own compatibility wants and needs?
    • prioritize taking care of yourself?
    • create your own joy?
    • commit to solving your problems - not advertising them?
    • create your own happiness and joy?

It’s Not OK To Treat Yourself Like Sh*t Feb 02, 2023
    Show notes

You must know what’s OK and what’s NOT OK in the relationship you have to YOURSELF.

    It’s NOT OK:

    • to blame yourself or feel at “fault” for having:
      • a neurodivergent brain
      • experiencing anxiety or depression
      • having ADD or ADHD
      • feeling what you feel
    • to avoid taking responsibility for your brain, mental health, or emotions
    • label yourself:
      • “I’m a procrastinator, a flake, stupid, bad… “
    • to SHOULD yourself:
      • “I should be/do/feel… “
    • to use “black and white thinking words” like:
      • good/bad
      • right/wrong
      • selfish
    • to allow stress to go unaddressed and unmanaged
    • to ignore your anger
    • to lie to yourself

Here’s what’s OK in the relationship to yourself:

    • taking responsibility for your circumstances, mental health, and emotions
    • creating new identities for yourself
    • intentionally choosing new vocabulary to empower yourself
    • feeling stressed, getting triggered, having stress cycles, and closing the cycles daily
    • feeling anger all the way through
    • telling yourself the truth AND giving yourself the permission to assume a holding pattern until you have clarity

    When do you notice:

    • blaming yourself?
    • telling yourself it’s all your “fault”?
    • labeling yourself?
    • using words like “good” or “bad”?
    • ignoring or avoiding your stress?
    • reacting to anger and lashing out at yourself or others?
    • lying to yourself?

When do you notice being willing to:

    • take responsibility for your life and circumstances?
    • create new identities?
    • stop using “triggering” words and replace them with empowering words?
    • notice your stress triggers, stress cycles, and actively close the stress cycles daily?
    • feel your anger all the way through until the URGENCY dissipates?
    • “buy yourself the time” to calm your body and get curious about the cause of your anger, hurt, or fear?
    • telling yourself the truth without forcing yourself to do anything about it yet?

When To Accept Your Fate Feb 01, 2023
    Show notes

Amor Fati is a latin phrase that means to “love one’s fate”. If we “love” our fate or circumstances, it means that we resist arguing with “what is” and we accept them as they are.

However, before we are ready to champion “loving our fate”, we must first feel and heal “what ails us”.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When you revisit difficult or challenging circumstances from your past, have you felt them and grieved them all the way through?
    • When you get triggered now, are you willing to ask yourself and your body: “What do I need now?” “How can I have my own back?”
    • What blessings or lessons have you gained from difficult circumstances?

    Insufficient Success Jan 31, 2023
    Show notes

Thank you for listening to this podcast - because of YOU, we have achieved almost 15,000 downloads! I’m so incredibly grateful for you!

When we judge our “success” as inadequate, insufficient, or “not enough”, we are in lack and blocking additional progress and abundance.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you notice achieving results and still feeling like a “failure”?
    • When do you notice comparing your “beginning” to someone’s else’s “middle” or “end”?
    • When do you notice getting stuck in comparisonitis because your results feel inferior?
    • When do you notice judging a “successful” person in order to compete with them by feeling superior?
    • When do you notice looking at your “success” as “losing”?
    • How willing are you to celebrate your “continuous progress”?

You Need To Assess Your Progress Jan 30, 2023
    Show notes

There are five elements or components of differentiation:

    • content (what you to need to learn)
    • process (how you learn it and how you apply it)
    • product (what you create and who you create it for)
    • environment (the circumstances you require in which to change)
    • assessment (how you’ll measure your progress)

Teaching Gifted Kids in the Regular Classroom by Susan Winebrenner.

If you want to make your life different, you must ASSESS your growth in order to make sure that you’re satisfied with your continuous progress. I invite you to consider:

    • being clear about where you’re starting. Are you:
      • frustrated or impatient in your life?
      • angry or resentful?
      • disappointed?
      • bored?
      • exhausted, depleted, or in burnout?
      • stressed?
      • anxious or depressed?
      • flat or lethargic?

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • Are you excited to:
      • get up in the morning to face the day?
      • go to work?
      • spend time with the people in your life?
      • be home?
      • be away from home?
    • Am I intentionally:
      • nourishing my body with energizing foods and water?
      • “buying back time” to do what you really want to do?
      • getting the sleep and rest I need?
      • saying NO to anything that’s not a HELL YES?

Teaching Gifted Kids in the Regular Classroom by Susan Winebrenner.

If you want to make your life different, you may need to change your ENVIRONMENT. Your ENVIRONMENT can be:

    • the circumstances of your life:
      • your relationships
      • your job, career, calling

    • Which relationships need to shift or end?
    • Is your job or career keeping you stuck in underachievement?
    • Do you have enough time:

If you want to make your life different, you must start creating PRODUCTS for an AUDIENCE. A PRODUCT is anything you create using your gifts and talents with the intention to share it with an AUDIENCE. An AUDIENCE is one other person with whom you can share your creation.

    • helping someone
    • baking or cooking something
    • writing a letter, post, email or text to support someone
    • creating a beautiful home for your family
    • a genuine compliment for a complete stranger
